An Endogenous Feedback and Entropy Analysis in Machine Learning Model for Stock’s Return Forecast

Stock markets exhibit Brownian movement with random,non-linear,uncertain,evolutionary,non-parametric,nebulous,chaotic characteristics and dynamism with a high degree of *** an algorithm to predict returns for decision-making is a challenging *** addition,the choice of vari-ables that will serve as input to the model represents a non-triviality,since it is possible to observe endogeneity problems between the predictor and the predicted ***,the goal is to analyze the endogenous origin of the stock return prediction model based on technical *** this,we structure a feed-for-ward neural *** evaluate the endogenous feedback between the pre-dicted returns and technical analysis indicators based on the generated *** is possible to predict the *** high accuracy of the model indicates that,during the test period,there is a hit rate close to 76%.Regarding endogeneity,the term of interest and the return are the variables that influence the largest number of *** results will help investors build investment strategies based on this expert system applied to forecasting.

Electroencephalographic Activity Associated to Investment Decisions: Gender Differences

Literature in finance and neurosciences shows that male and female differ in many relevant issues concerning financial decision investment. Here, we studied the EEG activity recorded while volunteers were playing a stock trading game to investigate these gender differences. 20 males and 20 females made 100 trading decisions using a portfolio of 200 shares of 7 different companies. Males and females were equally successful in earning above the market. sLORETA was used to identify sources of EEG recorded 2 seconds before trading decision. Results showed that male and female used different sets of neuron to make equally successful financial decisions.

Understanding the corrosion of Mg alloys in in vitro urinary tract conditions: A step forward towards a biodegradable metallic ureteral stent

Ureteral stents play a fundamental role in modern time urology. However, following the deployment, stent-related symptoms are frequent and affect patient health and quality of life. Using biodegradable metals as ureteral stent materials have emerged as a promising strategy, mainly due to the improved radial force and slower degradation rate expected. Therefore, this study aimed to characterize different biodegradable metals in urinary tract environment to understand their propensity for future utilization as base materials for ureteral stents. The corrosion of 5 Mg alloys - AZ31, Mg-1Zn, Mg-1Y, pure Mg, and Mg-4Ag - under simulated urinary tract conditions was accessed. The corrosion layer of the different alloys presented common elements, such as Mg(OH)_(2), MgO, and phosphate-containing products, but slight variations in their chemical compositions were detected. The corrosion rate of the different metals varied, which was expected given the differences in the corrosion layers. On top of this, the findings of this study highlighted the significant differences in the samples' corrosion and corrosion layers when in stagnant and flowing conditions. With the results of this study, we concluded that Mg-1Zn and Mg-4Ag presented a higher propensity for localized corrosion, probably due to a less protective corrosion layer;Mg-4Ag corroded faster than all the other four alloys,and Mg-1Y stood out due to its distinct corrosion pattern, that showed to be more homogeneous than all the other four samples, making this one more attractive for the future studies on biodegradable metals.

Antidepressant Drugs Modulate Differentially Anti-inflammatory Lithium＇s Property： An in Vitro and in Vivo Study

Li （lithium）, a mood stabilizer has anti-inflammatory effect. However, in clinical practice, Li can be administered together with other antidepressants drugs, such as FLX （fluoxetine）, IMI （imipramine）, NOR （nortriptyline） and ESC （escitalopram）. As interaction between Li and these antidepressant drugs on inflammatory modulation has not been investigated yet, we performed an in vitro protocol using a non-human macrophage cell line. Oxidative and inflammatory markers, as well as cell cycle analysis and cytokine gene expressions were compared among treatments. An IR （inflammatory ratio） was calculated based on the following oxidative-inflammatory variables： nitric oxide, superoxide anion, reactive oxygen molecules, cytokines IL-113, IL-6, TNF-ct and IL-10. The in vitro calculated IR data were validated through an in vivo analysis of 154 human subjects with similar IR. Li and control cells presented similar IR values. FLX, NOR and IMI increased slightly IR values indicating some proinflammatory effect, whereas ESC decreased IR values indicating some anti-inflammatory effect. However, cells exposed to Li ＋ ESC triggered a proinflammatory response on macrophages. Thus, IR comparison results suggest that the Li anti-inflammatory effect is not universal and could be influenced by both basal macrophage-inflammatory state and interaction of other psychiatric drugs. These results could be useful to understand some inconsistencies observed in human studies involving Li and other psychiatric drugs.
