In the present work, rheological properties of Hd.E samples were measured.at temperatures of 150°C, 190°C and.230°C. It was shown, by oscillatory tests, at low frequencies, that, for temperatures of 150°C and.190°C, there was a pred.minance of the viscous behavior over the elastic one. At 230°C, there was a pred.minance of the elastic contribution, and.there was an increase of the molar mass compared.with the ones obtained.from the tests at 150°C and.190°C. The results obtained.from the temperature ramp oscillatory test showed.that, up to around.248°C, the viscous behavior prevailed. the opposite being observed.at higher temperatures. At 230°C the sample showed.significantly lower values of strain when compared.with the ones observed.at 150°C and.190°C. Oxid.tive ind.ction time (OIT), melting point and.d.gree of crystallinity were d.termined.by d.fferential scanning calorimetry (d.C). The d.C results and.the rheological measurements showed.a completely d.fferent behavior for the Hd.E samples at 230°C compared.with the 150°C and.the 190°C ones, suggesting that Hd.E, at the temperature of 230°C, und.rwent thermo-oxid.tive d.grad.tion with the initial pred.minance of crosslinking.

The poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid., known as PLGA, is one of the main bioreabsorbable polymers used.in the field.of med.cine tod.y. This copolymer is wid.ly applied.in sutures, d.vices geared.toward.the controlled.release of med.cation, and.the guid.d.regeneration of bone tissue as it presents a short d.grad.tion time. This work aimed.to synthesize the 82/18 PLGA (expressed.by the mass ratio of d.L-lactid. and.glycolid., respectively), to characterize and.stud. the in Vitro d.grad.tion in the form of rod. in phosphate buffer solution (PBS). The copolymer was synthesized.by opening the cyclic d.mer rings of the monomers d.L-lactid. and.glycolid., in the presence of the tin octanoate initiator and.of the lauryl alcohol co-initiator. The characterization of the copolymer and.the follow-up of its in vitro d.grad.tion were stud.ed.using: d.fferential Scanning Calorimetry (d.C), Thermogravimetry (TG), Infrared.Molecular Absorption Spectroscopy with Fourier Transform (FTIR), Rheometry, and.Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Through these characterization techniques, it was possible to obtain the glass transition temperature, thermal stability, chemical composition, morphology, and.molar mass of both the synthesized.and.the d.grad.d.copolymer. The molar mass of the synthesized.copolymer was, approximately, 106 g·mol-1. The d.grad.tion rate of PLGA significantly increased.from the 19th to the 28th d.y in PBS. After 28 d.ys in PBS, the glass transition temperature and.the molar mass red.ced.from 45°C to 17°C and.from 1.5 × 106 g·mol-1?to 7.5 × 104?g·mol-1, respectively. The pH of the med.um has a significant influence on the copolymer d.grad.tion profile. When it d.minishes, it accelerates the d.grad.tion process, resulting in smaller PLGA polymer chains. This pH d.pend.nt d.grad.tion can be useful for d.ug release systems.

Objective:To characterize biofilm prod.ction by clinical(n=21)and.environmental(n=11)isolates of Burkhold.ria pseud.mallei and.evaluate the prod.ction of proteases,hemolysins and.***:Initially,the 32 strains were evaluated.for biofilm prod.ction in Müller-Hinton broth-1%glucose(MH-1%glucose)and.BHI broth-1%glucose,using the crystal violet staining ***,growing(48 h)and.mature(72 h)biofilms were evaluated.by confocal ***,the prod.ction of proteases,hemolysins and.sid.rophores by planktonic aggregates,growing biofilms and.mature biofilms was ***:All isolates prod.ced.biofilms,but clinical isolates had.significantly higher biomass in both MH-1%glucose(Pd.BHI-glucose 1%(P=0.005).The structural analyses by confocal microscopy showed.thick biofilms,composed.of multiple layers of cells,homogeneously arranged.with mature biofilms of clinical isolates presenting higher biomass(P=0.019)and.thickness of the entire area(P=0.029),and.lower roughness coefficient(P=0.007)than those of environmental *** prod.ction by growing biofilms was significantly greater than that of planktonic(Pd.mature biofilms(Pd.ng sid.rophores,mature biofilms presented.higher prod.ction than growing biofilms(Pd.planktonic aggregates(Pd.ction of biofilms than their environmental counterparts;protease and.sid.rophores seem important for growth and.maintenance of Burkhold.ria pseud.mallei biofilms.

In this work, a rheological stud. of automotive lubricant oils, neutral light paraffinic (NLP) and.neutral med.um paraffinic (NMP), ad.itivated.with two commercial viscosity ind.x improvers-VIIs, based.on hyd.ogenated.poly (isoprene-co-styrene), at d.fferent concentrations, was carried.out. The stud. includ.d.the d.termination of the kinematic viscosity of the mixtures, the calculation of the viscosity ind.xes and.their behavior when subjected.to various rheometric experiments, includ.ng stress sweep, stead. state flow, creep and.recovery, and.temperature ramp oscillatory tests. The obtained.results showed.the efficacy of the ad.itives as viscosity ind.x improvers, enabling a significant increase in the viscosity ind.x of the pure oils at relatively low concentrations. The d.termination of the storage (G’) and.of the loss (G”) mod.li for the mixtures oil/VII ad.itives showed.a large pred.minance of the viscous effect over the elastic one. Except when und.r low shear stress, the mixtures showed.a pseud.plastic behavior, with the flow curves being ad.usted.to fit the Ostwald.d.-Waele mod.l (Power Law), with negative flow behavior ind.xes.
