Misdiagnosis of tuberculosis and the clinical relevance of nontuberculous mycobacteria in Zambia

objective:To determine the accuracy of TB diagnosis of TB in Zambia in the era of increasing HIV ***:sputum of the clinically diagnosed TB cases was additionally subjected to liquid culture and molecular *** study distinguished between TB cases confirmed by positive Mycobacterium tuberculosis(***) cultures and mycobacterial disease caused by non-tuberculous mycobacteria(NTM).Results:only 49% of the 173 presumptively diagnosed TB cases was *** cultured,while in 13% (22) cases,a combination of *** and NTM was *** 18% of the patients only NTM were *** 28% ,no mycobacteria was *** positive status was correlated with the isolation of NTM(Ponclusions:The diagnosis of tuberculosis based on symptoms, sputum smear and/or chest X-ray leads to significant numbers of false-positive TB cases in Zambia,most likely due to the increased prevalence of *** role of NTM in tuberculosislike disease also seems relevant to the false diagnosis of TB in Zambia.

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAs Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAs *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

The fabrication of electrocatalysts with high activity and acid stability for acidic oxygen evolution reaction(oER)is an urgent need,yet extremely ***,we report the design and successful fabrication of a high performance self-supported cogwheel arrays-like nanoporous Ir_(x)Ru_(1−x)o_(2) catalyst with abundant atomic steps for acidic oER using a facile alloy-spinningelectrochemical activation method that allows large-scale *** obtained Ir_(x)Ru_(1−x)o_(2) catalysts merely need overpotentials of 211 and 295 mV to deliver catalytic current densities of 10 and 300 mA·cm^(−2) in 0.5 M H_(2)so_(4),respectively,and can sustain constant oER electrolysis for at least 140 h at a high current density of 300 mA·cm^(−2).Further density functional theory(dFT)calculations uncover that such high intrinsic activities mainly originate from the largely exposed high-index atomic step planes,which markedly lower the limiting potential of the rate-determining step(Rds)of *** findings provide an insight into the exploration of high performance electrocatalysts,and open up an avenue for further developing the state-of-theart Ir and/or Ru-based catalysts for large-scale practical applications.

Fungi are highly important biotic components of terrestrial ecosystems,but we still have a very limited understanding about their diversity and *** data article releases a global soil fungal dataset of the Global soil Mycobiome consortium(GsMc)to boost further research in fungal diversity,biogeography and *** dataset comprises 722,682 fungal operational taxonomic units(oTUs)derived from PacBio sequencing of full-length ITs and 18s-V9 variable regions from 3200 plots in 108 countries on all *** plots are supplied with geographical and edaphic *** oTUs are taxonomically and functionally assigned to guilds and other functional *** entire dataset has been corrected by excluding chimeras,index-switch artefacts and potential *** dataset is more inclusive in terms of geographical breadth and phylogenetic diversity of fungi than previously published *** GsMc dataset is available over the PlutoF repository.
