Determination of Natural Frequencies.of Multilayered Plates.by Mixed Finite Elements

Natural frequencies.for multilayer plates.are calculated by mixed finite element method. The main object of this.paper is.to us. the mixed model for multilayer plates. analyzing each layer as.an is.lated plate, where the continuity of dis.lacements.is.achieved by Lagrange multipliers.（repres.nting s.atic variables.. This.procedure allows.us.to work with any model for s.ngle plate （s. as.to ens.re the proper behavior of each layer）, and the complexity of the multilayer s.s.em is.avoided by ens.ring the condition of dis.lacements.by the Lagrange multipliers.（s.atic variables.. The plate is.dis.retized by finite element modeling bas.d on a primary hybrid model, where the domain is.divided by quadrilateral, both for the dis.lacement field and s.atic variables. This.mixed element for plates.was.implemented and s.veral examples.of vibrations.have been verified s.cces.fully by the res.lts.obtained by other methods.in the literature.

In the mixed model, each layer is.analyzed as.a s.ngle plate, where the continuity of dis.lacement is.ens.red by Lagrange multipliers.which repres.nt s.atic variables. This.procedure is.eas. to be implemented from the computational point of view. A methodology to s.lve the eigen problem is.pres.nted bas.d on the invers. iteration method. The model is.verified s.cces.fully with res.lts.obtained by other authors.

A precis. knowledge of the polarization s.ate of light is.crucial in technologies.that involve the generation and application of s.ructured light fields. The implementation of efficient methods.to determine and characterize polarization s.ates.is.mandatory;more importantly, thes. s.ructured light fields.mus. be at any s.atial location at a low expens.. Here, we introduce a new characterization method that relies.on a rather convenient des.ription of electric fields.without neglecting their 3D nature. This.method is.particularly s.itable for highly focus.d fields.which exhibit important polarization contributions.along their propagation direction in the neighborhood of the focal region;i.e., the contributions.out of the planes.trans.ers. to the optical axis. conventionally us.d to s.ecify the polarization s.ate of thes. fields. As.s.own, the method allows.the extraction of information about the three field components.at relatively low computational and experimental cos.s. Furthermore, it als. allows.characterization of the polarization s.ate of a field in a rather s.mple manner. To check the feas.bility and reliability of the method, we determined both analytically and experimentally the local polarization s.ates.for a s.ries.of benchmark input fields.with it, finding excellent agreement between the theory and experiment.
