Pulmonary administration of functionalized nanoparticles significantly reduces beta-amyloid in the brain of an Alzheimer＇s disease murine model

Treatment options for Alzheimer＇s disease （AD） are limited because of the inability of drugs to cross the blood-brain barrier （BBB）. A promising strategy to overcome this obstacle is the use of nanoparticles （NPs）. Previously, we showed that intraperitoneal administration of liposomes functionalized with phosphatidic acid and an ApoE-derived peptide （mApoE-PA-LIP） reduces brain beta-amyloid （A） burden and ameliorates impaired memory in AD mice. Here, we investigated lung administration as an alternative, non-invasive NP delivery route for reaching the brain. Our results show that mApoE-PA-LIP were able to cross the pulmonary epithelium （[C]-PA permeability = 6.5 ＋ 2.0 × 10^4 cm/min） in vitro and reach the brain （up to 0.6 μg PA/g brain） following in vivo intratracheal instillations. Lung administration of mApoE-PA-LIP to AD mice significantly decreased total brain Aβ （-60%; p 〈 0.05） compared to untreated mice. These results suggest that pulmonary administration could be exploited for brain delivery of NPs designed for AD therapy.

Inflammatory bowel diseases,namely ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease,are chronic and relapsing conditions that pose a growing burden on healthcare systems *** of their complex and partly unknown etiology and pathogenesis,the management of ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease can prove challenging not only from a clinical point of view but also for resource *** intelligence,an umbrella term that encompasses any cognitive function developed by machines for learning or problem solving,and its subsets machine learning and deep learning are becoming ever more essential tools with a plethora of applications in most medical *** this regard gastroenterology is no exception,and due to the importance of endoscopy and imaging numerous clinical studies have been gradually highlighting the relevant role that artificial intelligence has in inflammatory bowel diseases as *** aim of this review was to summarize the most recent evidence on the use of artificial intelligence in inflammatory bowel diseases in various contexts such as diagnosis,follow-up,treatment,prognosis,cancer surveillance,data collection,and ***,insights into the potential further developments in this field and their effects on future clinical practice were discussed.

Socio-Environmental Responsibility Policy in Financial Institutions

This research intents to analyze the influence of Socio-Environmental Responsibility Policy of Brazilian’s Central Bank on financial institutions economic performance listed at the Brazilian stock *** data was collected from diversified sources(websites,explanatory notes,reference form and Economatica®data base)from 2012 up to *** sample,22 financial institutions were considered for data collection and *** results showed that the growth in shareholder’s equity and contingent liabilities have significant differences from the adoption of the Socio-Environmental Responsibility *** six items of corporate governance and six items of risk management,no investigated institution presented all these mechanisms requested by Brazilian’s Central ***’s financial institutions recognized a greater volume of liabilities and expenses after the implementation of such policy,which reduced their net *** research shed some lights in socio-environmental policies regarding corporate governance and risk management ***:to analyze whether the adoption of a socio-environmental responsibility policy influences the performance indicators and the corporate governance and risk management framework of financial institutions listed on the Brazilian stock ***:Data were collected from the period 2012 to 2017,referring to 22 Brazilian financial institutions,which provided information to operationalize the ***:the results showed that,from the performance indicators investigated,the growth in shareholders'equity and contingent liabilities presented significant differences as of the adoption of the socio-environmental responsibility *** items were analyzed,six of which were corporate governance and six of risk management,noting that no investigated institution presented all the mechanisms provided by the Central Bank of ***:the evidence suggests that Brazilian financial institutio
