Free organic solvent ink containing graphite, carboxymethyl cellulose and microfibrillated cellulose as active material, dispersing and binder, respectively, has been formulated to produce flexible and eco- sustainable electrodes for lithium ion batteries. Content ratio of components and dispersion protocol were tailored in order to have theological properties suitable for a large and cheap manufacturing process as well as screen printing. The bio-sourced printed electrodes exhibit a high porosity value of 70% that limits the electrochemical performances. However, the calendering process enhances electrode performances by increasing the reversible capacity from 85 until 315 mAh/g and reducing porosity to an optimal value of 34%. Moreover the introduction of 2% w/w of monofluoro-ethylene carbonate in the electrolyte reduced their reversible capacity loss of 11% in the printed electrode.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD) is a common gastrointestinal disorder in cystic fibrosis(CF), and based on various studies, its prevalence is elevated since childhood. There are several pathogenetic mechanisms on the basis of association between CF and GERD. However, there are no specific guidelines for GERD in CF patients, so diagnosis is based on guidelines performed on patients not affected by CF. The aim of this review is to provide the pathophysiology, diagnostic and therapeutic options, complications, and future directions in the management of GERD patients with CF.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE While adhesive capsulitis has been described as a self-limiting condition, long-term studies suggest that residual pain may occur in up to 50% of patients. As intra-articular steroid injections have been shown to provide significant short-term benefits for pain relief and increased range of motion, this study assessed the effect of a single intra-articular corticosteroid injection, performed without image guidance, when applied before physical *** This blinded, randomized, controlled trial was performed at a single Argentinian center between June of 2012 and June of 2013. Subjects were adult patients with stage II adhesive capsulitis according to the classification of Hannafin and Chiaia. Eighty-seven consecutive patients with frozen shoulder were randomized to receive either a single corticosteroid injection into the glenohumeral joint or oral diclofenac, 75 mg twice a day. All subjects then engaged in a progressive rehabilitation protocol. Clinical and functional parameters were determined at baseline and at two, four, eight and 12 *** The corticosteroid group had faster pain relief and shoulder function improvement during the first eight weeks (P<0.001). At 12 weeks, no significant difference was seen between the groups. Forward flexion, abduction and internal rotation were significantly improved in the steroid group as compared to the control group at all time points (P<0.001).CONCLUSION This study of adults with adhesive capsulitis found that pain and functional improvement, through physical therapy, could be better accelerated with a blind intraarticular steroid, than with oral NSAIDs.

We demonstrate,both analytically and experimentally,free-space pin-like optical vortex beams (POVBs). Such angular-momentum-carrying beams feature tunable peak intensity and undergo robust antidiffracting propagation,realized by judiciously modulating both the amplitude and the phase profile of a standard laser ***,they are generated by superimposing a radially symmetric power-law phase on a helical phase structure,which allows the inclusion of an orbital angular momentum term to the POVBs. During propagation in free space,these POVBs initially exhibit autofocusing dynamics,and subsequently their amplitude patterns morph into a high-order Bessel-like profile characterized by a hollow core and an annular main lobe with a constant or tunable width during propagation. In contrast with numerous previous endeavors on Bessel beams,our work represents the first demonstration of long-distance free-space generation of optical vortex "pins" with their peak intensity evolution controlled by the impressed amplitude structure. Both the Poynting vectors and the optical radiation forces associated with these beams are also numerically analyzed,revealing novel properties that may be useful for a wide range of applications.

The orbital degrees of freedom play a pivotal role in understanding fundamental phenomena in solid-state materials as well as exotic quantum states of matter including orbital superfluidity and topological *** tremendous efforts in engineering synthetic cold-atom,as well as electronic and photonic lattices to explore orbital physics,thus far high orbitals in an important class of materials,namely,higher-order topological insulators(HOTIs),have not been ***,we demonstrate p-orbital corner states in a photonic HOTI,unveiling their underlying topological invariant,symmetry protection,and nonlinearity-induced dynamical *** a Kagome-type HOTI,we find that the topological protection of p-orbital corner states demands an orbital-hopping symmetry in addition to generalized chiral *** to orbital hybridization,nontrivial topology of the p-orbital HOTI is“hidden”if bulk polarization is used as the topological invariant,but well manifested by the generalized winding *** work opens a pathway for the exploration of intriguing orbital phenomena mediated by higher-band topology applicable to a broad spectrum of systems.
