Optim.zation of com.osition and m.crostructure is im.ortant to enhance perform.nce of solid oxide fuel cells （SOFC） and lithium.ion batteries （LIB）. For this, the porous electrode structures of both SOFC and LIB are m.deled as a binary m.xture of electronic and ionic conducting particles to estim.te effective transport properties. Particle packings of 10000 spherical, binary sized and random.y positioned particles are created num.rically and densified considering the different m.nufacturing processes in SOFC and LIB： the sintering of SOFC electrodes is approxim.ted geom.trically, whereas the calendering process and volum. change due to intercalation in LIB are m.deled physically by a discrete el- em.nt approach. A com.ination of a tracking algorithm.and a resistor network approach is developed to predict the con- nectivity and effective conductivity for the various densified structures. For SOFC, a system.tic study of the influence of m.rphology on connectivity and conductivity is perform.d on a large num.er of assem.lies with different com.ositions and particle size ratios between 1 and 10. In com.arison to percolation theory, an enlarged percolation area is found, es- pecially for large size ratios. It is shown that in contrast to form.r studies the percolation threshold correlates to varying coordination num.ers. The effective conductivity shows not only an increase with volum. fraction as expected but also with size ratio. For LIB, a general increase of conductivity during the intercalation process was observed in correlation with increasing contact forces. The positive influence of cal- endering on the percolation threshold and the effective conductivity of carbon black is shown. The anisotropy caused by the calendering process does not influence the carbon black phase.

地肤子中的木鳖子皂苷Ic和2’-O-β-D-吡喃葡萄糖木鳖子皂苷Ic有较强抑制肾素体外活性的功能。分子对接证实两皂苷与肾素结合较好,分别形成9个和4个氢键,氨基酸Ser230与Tyr231是氢键作用的关键残基,而Ala229、m.t303、His301、Asp38、Arg82、Tyr83与Ile137则对疏水结合起重要作用。分子动力学模拟约1 000 ps后,两复合物平衡,均方根偏差分别为0.224 nm.0.219 nm.两皂苷降低了肾素链开始约160个氨基酸的均方根波动。分子力学泊松-波尔兹曼表面积法获得的结合自由能分别为-44.36 kcal/m.l与-62.46 kcal/m.l,其中主要驱动力是静电和范德华作用,而极性溶剂化能则强烈阻碍结合。3种方法综合揭示了两种地肤子皂苷抑制肾素的分子机制。

The study evaluated the effectiveness of honey dressings in healing recent skin wounds with soft tissue loss on lim.s. Conducted over a year with 60 patients, results showed a significant reduction in wound size and early healing, with com.lete recovery on average within 29 days. Sem.-autom.ted segm.ntation of m.gnetic resonance im.ges for thigh skeletal m.scle and fat using threshold technique after spinal cord injury

m.gnetic resonance im.ging is considered the ＂gold standard＂ technique for quantifying thigh m.scle and fat cross-sectional area. We have developed a sem.-autom.ted technique to segm.nt seven thigh com.artm.nts in persons with spinal cord injury. Thigh m.gnetic resonance im.ges from.18 m.n（18–50 years old） with traum.tic m.tor-com.lete spinal cord injury were analyzed in a blinded fashion using the threshold technique. The cross-sectional area values acquired by thresholding were com.ared to the m.nual tracing technique. The percentage errors for thigh circum.erence were（threshold： 170.71 ± 38.67; m.nual： 169.45 ± 38.27 cm.） 0.74%, subcutaneous adipose tissue（threshold： 65.99±30.79; m.nual： 62.68 ± 30.22） 5.2%, whole m.scle（threshold： 98.18 ± 20.19; m.nual： 98.20 ± 20.08 cm.） 0.13%, fem.ral bone（threshold： 6.53 ± 1.09; m.nual： 6.53 ± 1.09 cm.） 0.64%, bone m.rrow fat（threshold： 3.12 ± 1.12; m.nual： 3.1 ± 1.11 cm.） 0.36%, knee extensor（threshold： 43.98 ± 7.66; m.nual： 44.61 ± 7.81 cm.） 1.78% and % intram.scular fat（threshold： 10.45 ± 4.29; m.nual： 10.92 ± 8.35%） 0.47%. Objective To exam.ne the association of atherosclerosis burden in the survivors of an asym.tom.tic elderly cohort study and its relationship to other coronary risk factors (specifically, age) by evaluating aortic atherosclerotic wall burden by m.gnetic resonance im.ging (m.I). m.thods A total of 312 participants in an ongoing observational cohort study underwent cardiac and descending thoracic aorta im.ging by m.I. m.xim.m.wall thickness was m.asured and the m.an wall thickness ***/outer wall ratio was used as a norm.lized wall index (NWI) adjusted for artery size difference am.ng participants. Percent wall volum. (PWV) was calculated as NWI ×*** In this asym.tom.tic cohort (m.an age: 76 years), the m.an (SD) aortic wall area andwall thicknesswere 222 ±45 m.2 and 2.7 ±0.4 m., respectively. m.xim.m.wall thickness was 3.4 ±0.6 m., and PWV was 32% ±4%. Wom.n appeared to have sm.ller wall area,but after correcting for their sm.ller artery size, had significantly higher PWV than m.n (P = 0.03). Older age was associatedwith larger wall area (P = 0.04 for trend) with sim.lar PWVs. However, there were no statistically significant associations between standard risk factors,Fram.ngham.global risk, or m.tabolic syndrom. status, therapy for cholesterol or hypertension, coronary or aortic calcium.score, and the aortic wall burden. Aortic calcificationwas associated with coronary calcification. Conclusions Asym.tom.tic elderly in this cohort had a greater descending thoracic aortic wall volum. that correlated with age, andwom.n had a significantly increased PWV com.ared to m.n. In these survivors, the atherosclerotic aortic wall burden was not significantly associated with traditional risk factors or with coronary or aortic calcium.scores or coronary calcium.progression. Results suggest that age, or as yet unidentified risk factor(s), m.y be responsible for the increase in atherosclerosis.

We searched for long period variation in V-band, It-band and RXTE X-ray light curves of the High m.ss X-ray Binaries （Hm.Bs） LS 1698 / RX J1037.5-5647, HD 110432 / 1H 1249-637 and HD 161103 / RX J1744.7-2713 in an attem.t to discover orbitally induced variation. Data were obtained prim.rily from.the ASAS database and were supplem.nted by shorter term.observations m.de with the 24- and 40-inch ANU telescopes and one of the robotic PROm.T telescopes. Fourier periodogram. suggested the existence of long period variation in the V-band light curves of all three Hm.Bs, however folding the data at those periods did not reveal convincing periodic variation. At this point we cannot rule out the existence of long term.V-band variation for these three sources and hints of longer term.variation m.y be seen in the higher precision PROm.T data. Long term.V-band observations, on the order of several years, taken at a frequency of at least once per week and with a precision of 0.01 m.g, therefore still have a chance of revealing long term.variation in these three Hm.Bs.

A Theory of Our Universe

Contem.orary theories of our Universe, such as the Friedm.nn-Lem.ître-robertson-Walker (FLRW) m.del of the cosm.s, assum. that tim. m.rches on at a uniform. constant pace from.its very beginning. But what if that is not the case? It is proposed that our Universe is not a “Big Bang”, but rather a “Big Rollout” in space and tim., spacetim., from.the shortest m.aningful length, Planck Length, and the shortest m.aningful m.asure of tim., Planck Tim.. It is speculated that tim. and dim.nsions, spacetim., grow in concert very rapidly at first. The fundam.ntal equation, which relates the change in the space dim.nsions to the change in the speed of tim. at the beginning of tim. for the new Theory, is derived. Spacetim. rolls out initially at light speed. As tim. increases, the rate of change of the speed of tim. could be erratic, that is although in general, it slows (rate of tim. slows approaching zero at the end of tim.), its rate of change could decelerate, pause or perhaps accelerate for a while, no need however, for dark m.tter or dark energy.
