Sucrose transporter2 contributes to maize growth,development,and crop yield

During daylight, plants produce excess photo- synthates, including sucrose, which is temporarily stored in the vacuole. At night, plants remobilize sucrose to sustain metabolism and growth. based on homology to other sucrose transporter （SUT） proteins, we hypothesized the maize （Zea mays） SUCROSE TRANSpORTER2 （ZmSUT2） protein functions as a sucrose/H^＋ symporter on the vacuolar membrane to export transiently stored sucrose. To understand the biological role of ZmSut2, we examined its spatial and temporal gene expression, determined the protein subcellular localization, and characterized loss-of- function mutations. ZmSut2 mRNA was ubiquitously expressed and exhibited diurnal cycling in transcript abundance. Expressing a translational fusion of ZmSUT2 fused to a red fluorescent protein in maize mesophyll cell protoplasts revealed that the protein localized to the tonoplast. Under field conditions, zmsut2 mutant plants grew slower, possessed smaller tassels and ears, and produced fewer kernels when compared to wild-type siblings, zmsut2 mutants also accumulated two-fold more sucrose, glucose, and fructose as well as starch in source leaves compared to wild type. These findings suggest （i） ZmSUT2 functions to remobilize sucrose out of the vacuole for subsequent use in growing tissues; and （ii） its function provides an important contribution to maize development and agronomic yield.

background:In recent years,the development of digital imaging technology has had a significant influence in liver *** ability to obtain a 3-dimensional(3D)visualization of the liver anatomy has provided surgery with virtual reality of simulation 3D computer models,3D printing models and more recently holograms and augmented reality(when virtual reality knowledge is superimposed onto reality).In addition,the utilization of real-time fluorescent imaging techniques based on indocyanine green(ICG)uptake allows clinicians to precisely delineate the liver anatomy and/or tumors within the parenchyma,applying the knowledge obtained preoperatively through digital *** combination of both has transformed the abstract thinking until now based on 2D imaging into a 3D preoperative conception(virtual reality),enhanced with real-time visualization of the fluorescent liver structures,effectively facilitating intraoperative navigated liver surgery(augmented reality).Data sources:A literature search was performed from inception until January 2021 in MEDLINE(pub Med),Embase,Cochrane library and database for systematic reviews(CDSR),Google Scholar,and National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence(NICE)***:Fifty-one pertinent articles were retrieved and *** different types of digital imaging technologies and the real-time navigated liver surgery were estimated and ***:ICG fluorescent imaging techniques can contribute essentially to the real-time definition of liver segments;as a result,precise hepatic resection can be guided by the presence of ***,3D models can help essentially to further advancing of precision in hepatic surgery by permitting estimation of liver volume and functional liver remnant,delineation of resection lines along the liver segments and evaluation of tumor *** liver transplantation and especially in living donor liver transplantation(LDLT),3D printed models of the donor’s live

background:pre-operative risk factors for post-operative ventilation and their influence on survival after pancreaticoduodenectomy for malignancy are ***:Totally 391 patients operated in Hannover,Germany were investigated with multivariable logistic regression and Cox regression modeling to identify independent risk factors for post-operative ventilation≥6 h,patient survival and 90-day *** 84 patients operated in birmingham,United Kingdom were analyzed to assess the external relevance of ***:Longer operations,history of thrombosis,intra-operative blood transfusion,lower estimated glomerular filtration rates(eGFR)and higher values of the age at operation divided by the Horovitz Quotient independently increased the risk of post-operative ventilation≥6 h in German patients(n=108;27.6%)(pblood transfusion and lower pre-operative eGFR levels increased the risk of early death in German patients significantly and independently of established prognostic factors.A history of thrombosis and lower eGFR levels were also independent significant risk factors for 90-day mortality in German patients but not in English *** of the English patients received post-operative *** more German patients were>75 years,had a history of thrombosis,received blood transfusions,and had significantly worse lung function ***4 tumors were detected in 18 German patients(4.6%),but not in the English ***:Identified risk factors for post-operative ventilation are clinically relevant in Germany but not in England and may be used to lower mortality *** German and the English cohorts displayed significant differences in the approach to patient selection and early post-operative extubation.

Effect of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt on pulmonary gas exchange in patients with portal hypertension and hepatopulmonary syndrome

AIM: To assess the impact of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIpS) on pulmonary gas exchange and to evaluate the use of TIpS for the treatment of hepatopulmonary syndrome (HpS).METHODS: Seven patients, three of them with advanced HpS, in whom detailed pulmonary function tests were performed before and after TIpS placementat the University of Alabama Hospital and at the Hospital Clinic, barcelona, were ***: TIpS patency was confirmed by hemodynamic evaluation. No changes in arterial blood gases were observed in the overall subset of patients. Transient arterial oxygenation improvement was observed in only one HpS patient, early after TIpS, but this was not sustained 4 mo ***: TIpS neither improved nor worsened pulmonary gas exchange in patients with portal hypertension. This data does not support the use of TIpS as a specific treatment for HpS. However, it does reinforce the view that TIpS can be safely performed for the treatment of other complications of portal hypertension in patients with HpS.

Slowed driving-reaction time following concussion-symptom resolution

background:Concussed patients have impaired reaction time(RT)and cognition following injury that may linger and impair driving *** research has used direct methods to assess driving-RT *** study compared driving RT during simulated scenarios between concussed and control individuals and examined driving-RT’s relationship with traditional computerized neurocognitive testing(CNT)***:We employed a cross-sectional study among 14 concussed(15.9±9.8 days post-concussion,mean±SD)individuals and 14 healthy controls matched for age,sex,and driving *** completed a driving simulator and CNT(CNS Vital Signs)assessment within 48 h of symptom resolution.A driving-RT composite(ms)was derived from 3 simulated driving scenarios:stoplight(green to yellow),evasion(avoiding approaching vehicle),and pedestrian(person running in front of vehicle).The CNT domains included verbal and visual memory;CNT-RT(simple-,complex-,Stroop-RT individually);simple and complex attention;motor,psychomotor,and processing speed;executive function;and cognitive *** t tests and Hedge d effect sizes assessed driving-RT differences between groups,pearson correlations(r)examined driving RT and CNT domain relationships among cohorts separately,and p values were controlled for false discovery rate via benjamini-Hochberg procedures(a=0.05).Results:Concussed participants demonstrated slower driving-RT composite scores than controls(mean difference=292.86 ms;95%confidence interval(95%CI):70.18515.54;p=0.023;d=0.992).Evasion-RT(p=0.054;d=0.806),pedestrian-RT(p=0.258;d=0.312),and stoplight-RT(p=0.292;d=0.585)outcomes were not statistically significant after false-discovery rate corrections but demonstrated medium to large effect sizes for concussed *** concussed individuals,driving-RT outcomes did not significantly correlate with CNT domains(r-range:0.51 to 0.55;p>0.05).No correlations existed between driving-RT outcomes a

SO(n)-Invariant Special Lagrangian Submanifolds of C^(n+1) with Fixed Loci

Let SO（n） act in the standard way on C^n and extend this action in the usual way to C^n＋l = C＋ C^n. It is shown that a nonsingular special Lagrangian submanifold L→∪ C^n＋l that is invariant under this SO（n）-action intersects the fixed C→∪ C^n＋1 in a nonsingular real-analytic arc A （which may be empty）. If n 〉 2, then A has no compact component. Conversely, an embedded, noncompact nonsingular real-analytic arc A→∪ C lies in an embedded nonsingular special Lagrangian submanifold that is SO（n）-invariant. The same existence result holds for compact A if n =2. nonsingular SO（n）-invariant special Lagrangian nonsingular SO（n）-invariant special Lagrangian extensions in some open neighborhood of A. If A is connected, there exist n distinct extensions of A such that any embedded extension of A agrees with one of these n The method employed is an analysis of a singular nonlinear pDE and ultimately calls on the work of Gerard and Tahara to prove the existence of the extension.

Strong Laws of Large Numbers for Double Sums of banach Space Valued Random Elements

For a double array {V_(m,n), m ≥ 1, n ≥ 1} of independent, mean 0 random elements in a real separable Rademacher type p(1 ≤ p ≤ 2) banach space and an increasing double array {b_(m,n), m ≥1, n ≥ 1} of positive constants, the limit law ■ and in L_p as m∨n→∞ is shown to hold if ■ This strong law of large numbers provides a complete characterization of Rademacher type p banach spaces. Results of this form are also established when 0 p ≤ 1 where no independence or mean 0 conditions are placed on the random elements and without any geometric conditions placed on the underlying banach space.
