Developm.nt of a rarefaction wave at discharge initiation in a storage silo--DEm.sim.lations

The generation of a rarefaction wave at the initiation of discharge from.a storage silo is a phenom.non of scientific and practical interest. The effect, som.tim.s term.d the dynam.c pressure switch, m.y create dangerous pulsations of the storage structure. Owing to the nonlinearity, discontinuity, and heterogeneity of granular system., the m.chanism.of generation and propagation of stress waves is com.lex and not yet com.letely understood. The present study conducted discrete elem.nt sim.lations to m.del the form.tion and propagation of a rarefaction wave in a granular m.terial contained in a silo. m.deling was perform.d for a flat-bottom.cylindrical container with diam.ter of 0.1 or 0.12 m.and height of 0.5 m. The effects of the orifice size and the shape of the initial discharging im.ulse on the shape and extent of the rarefaction wave were exam.ned. Positions, velocities, and forces of particles were recorded every 10-5 s and used to infer the location of the front of the rarefaction wave and loads on construction m.m.ers. Discharge through the entire bottom.of the bin generates a plane rarefaction wave that m.y be followed by a com.action wave, depending on the discharge rate. Discharge through the orifice generates a spherical rarefaction wave that, after reflection from.the silo wall, travels up the silo as a sequence of rarefaction-com.action cycles with constant wavelength equal to the silo diam.ter, During the travel of the wave along the bin height, the wave am.litude increases with the distance traveled. Sim.lations confirm.d earlier findings of laboratory and num.rical （finite elem.nt m.thod） experim.nts and a theoretical approach, estim.ting the speed of the front of the rarefaction wave to range from.70 to 80 m.s and the speed of the tail to range from.20 to 60 m.s.

Healthcare is indeed a com.lex service system. one requiring the technobiology approach of system. engineering to underpin its developm.nt as an integrated and adaptive system. In general, healthcare services are carried out with knowledge-intensive agents or com.onents which work together as providers and consum.rs to create or co-produce value. Indeed, the engineering design of a healthcare system.m.st recognize the fact that it is actually a com.lex integration of hum.n-centered activities that is increasingly dependent on inform.tion technology and knowledge. Like any service system. healthcare can be considered to be a com.ination or recom.ination of three essential com.onents - people （characterized by behaviors, values, knowledge, etc.）, processes （characterized by collaboration, custom.zation, etc.） and products （characterized by software, hardware, infrastructures, etc.）. Thus, a healthcare system.is an integrated and adaptive set of people, processes and products. It is, in essence, a system.of system. which obj.ctives are to enhance its efficiency （leading to greater interdependency） and effectiveness （leading to im.roved health）. Integration occurs over the physical, tem.oral, organizational and functional dim.nsions, while adaptation occurs over the m.nitoring, feedback, cybernetic and learning dim.nsions. In sum. such service system. as healthcare are indeed com.lex, especially due to the uncertainties associated with the hum.n-centered aspects of these system.. m.reover, the system.com.lexities can only be dealt with m.thods that enhance system.integration and adaptation.

Plasm. of argon stabilized arc colum., in a current range 3-11 A, is investigated using em.ssion spectrom.tric diagnostic techniques. Tem.eratures are evaluated using several m.thods： argon line to adj.cent recom.inational continuum.intensity ratio, absolute em.ssivity of argon line, m.asurem.nt of electron num.er density, and power interruption. Electron num.er density is evaluated from.absolute em.ssivity of recom.inational continuum. The difference between electron Te and heavy particle Th tem.erature ranged from.4500 K for 3 A to 2300 K for 11A arc current. By com.aring the present with the previously obtained results, using the sam. arc device but with the introduction of water aerosol, it is concluded that water aerosol reduces the difference Te - Th and brings plasm. closer to the partial therm.dynam.c equilibrium.state.

Quantum.correlations relativity for continuous variable system.

It is shown that a choice of degrees of freedom.of a bipartite continuous variable system.determ.nes the am.unt of non-classical correlations (quantified by discord) in the system.s state. Non-classical correlations (that include entanglem.nt as a special kind of correlations) are ubiquitous for such system.. For a quantum.state, if there are not non-classical correlations (quantum.discord is zero) for one, there are in general non-classical correlations (quantum.discord is non-zero) for another set of the com.osite system.s degrees of freedom. The physical relevance of this "quantum.correlations relativity" is em.hasized also in the m.re general context.

Distribution and characterization of C_(31) sterane from.cretaceous sedim.nts and oils,Songliao Basin,China

Relatively high abundance of C31 steranes has been identified from.cretaceous source rocks and crude oils in the Songliao Basin, China. C31 steranes which occur as ten isom.rs were tentatively identified as 4, 22, 23, 24-tetram.tyhlcholestane based on their retention tim. and m.ss *** bear a lower therm.l stability and occur as im.ortant com.onents in the im.ature oils of Chaochang region because they have three-m.thyl groups in their side chain. The relatively high abundance of C31 steranes in the sam.les can indicate the source input of som. special algae in the brackish and saline environm.nt. Therefore they can be used as very useful biom.rkers for organic facies analysis and oil correlation. Their biological source perhaps related to the dinoflagellate such as G. foliaceum.and P. foliaceum. The gorgostanol are considered as possible precursors for the putative C314m.thyl sterane which form.d in the stage of diagenesis.

The identification of j.ts originating from.quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an im.ortant role in various analyses perform.d at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard m.del m.asurem.nts and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the m.asurem.nt of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated lum.nosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high perform.nces in rej.cting j.ts from.gluon over j.ts from.quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirem.nts on the num.er of inner-detector tracks associated with the j.t,and the other com.ines several j.t substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A m.thod is established to determ.ne the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsam.les defined by the j.t *** in tagging efficiency between data and sim.lation are provided for j.ts with transverse m.m.ntum.between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for m.ltiple tagger working points.

Studying the m.m.rane physiology of filam.ntous fungi is key to understanding their interactions with the environm.nt and crucial for developing new therapeutic strategies for disease-causing ***,their plasm. m.m.rane has been inaccessible for a m.cron-sized patch-clam. pipette for pA current recordings due to the rigid chitinous cell ***,we report the first fem.osecond IR laser nanosurgery of the cell wall of the filam.ntous fungi,which enabled patch-clam. m.asurem.nts on protoplasts released from.hyphae.A reproducible and highly precise(diffraction-lim.ted,subm.cron resolution)m.thod for obtaining viable released protoplasts was *** release from.the nanosurgery-generated incisions in the cell wall was achieved from.different regions of the *** plasm. m.m.rane of the obtained protoplasts form.d tight and high-resistance(GΩ)contacts with the recording *** entire nanosurgical procedure followed by the patch-clam. technique could be com.leted in less than 1 *** to previous studies using heterologously expressed channels,this technique provides the opportunity to identify new ionic currents and to study the properties of the ion channels in the protoplasts of filam.ntous fungi in their native environm.nt.
