El-Burullus Lake is one of the four Egyptian Ramsar sites that constitute internationally important wetlands as they contain a rich biodiversity and have a large number of water bird *** the valuable resources in El-Burullus Lake and its surrounding area have faced various threats to wetlands over recent *** study was carried out to evaluate the dynamics of land cover change using three change scenes of recent and past satellite data from 1990 to *** study utilized ArcGIS10.7,ERDAS Imagine 14,Landsat TM(1990,1999,and 2010),Landsat OLI-TIRS(2019)to analyze the land-use/land-cover(LULC)of El-Burullus *** Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI)and Normal-ized Difference Water Index(NDWI)were employed to assess the change scenario of the *** indicated that vegetated land has increased significantly with a concomitant shrinkage in the water body and open soil during the study *** 53 km^2(7.0%)of water body and 8.7 km^2(1.3%)of open soil were lost,while vegetation areas expanded to approximately 29.9 km^2(7.4%).Factors that underpin the observed changes in the area are;reclamation projects and fish-farms which are creating the danger of drying up of the southern coastal parts of the lake,as well as spreading of reed beds(mainly:Phragmites australis)that covers about 20%of El-Burullus lake which led to dry up the lake ***,the study suggests the need for urgent attention on conservation of remaining wetland resources for sustainable utilization for the next generation.

Background: Serum ferritin(SF) and consequently hepatic iron have long been considered important in liver fibrosis progression. They have been studied in different liver diseases with no previous reports in neonatal cholestasis(NC). This study aimed to measure SF in different etiologies of NC and investigate its relation to hepatic iron and fibrosis. Methods: SF was measured in 75 infants, including 50 with NC and 25 with sepsis. SF was compared between these two groups. Biochemical parameters, hepatic iron grades, and liver fibrosis and other histopathological characteristics and correlated with SF were assessed in NC group. Finally, a comparison between intrahepatic cholestasis and obstructive etiology was performed. Results: SF was elevated in NC(1598 ± 2405 ng/mL) with no significant difference from those with sepsis( P = 0.445). NC and sepsis constituted augmenting factors leading to more elevation of SF(2589 ± 3511 ng/mL). SF was significantly correlated with hepatic iron grades( r = 0.536, P < 0.0 0 01) and a cut-off value of 803.5 ng/mL can predict higher grades( ≥ grade 3) of iron deposition with sensitivity of 100%, specificity of 70% and accuracy of 85%. Moreover, SF was significantly higher( P < 0.0 0 01) in those with intrahepatic cholestasis(2602 ± 3154 ng/mL) and their prevalent pathological findings of giant cell transformation( P = 0.009) and hepatocyte swelling( P = 0.023) than those with obstructive etiology(672 ± 566 ng/mL) and their prevalent pathological findings of ductular proliferation( P = 0.003) and bile plugs( P = 0.002). SF was unrelated to the grade of liver fibrosis( P = 0.058). Conclusions: SF is non-specifically elevated in NC, with positive correlation to hepatic iron grades. SF ≥ 803.5 ng/mL can predict higher grades( ≥ grade 3) of hepatic iron. However, an active role of increased SF and hepatic iron in disease progression remains questionable.

Purpose:To compare cartilage tympanoplasty(CT)combined with eustachian tube balloon dilatation(ETBD)and cartilage tympanoplasty alone as a surgical treatment modality for adhesive otitis media(AdOM)in terms of graft healing,audiological outcomes,and impact on life style,using Chronic Otitis Media Outcome Test 15(COMOT-15).Methods:50 patients with AdOM were randomly classified into 2 groups:25 patients for cartilage tympanoplasty only(CT group)and 25 patients for cartilage tympanoplasty combined with eustachian tube balloon dilatation(CT t ETBD group).Clinical outcomes in both groups were compared at 3 and 6 months of follow ***:There was no significant difference in graft healing between the two *** COMOT-15 scores significantly decreased in both groups with a significant difference between the groups with regard to the decrease in COMOT-15 scores at 3 and 6 months of follow-up(P<0.05).Hearing improvement was achieved,as the mean preoperative ABG was 26.5±5.4 and 27.1±4.6 dB,and the mean postoperative ABG at 6 months was 19.4±4.4 and 14.6±3.9 dB in the CT and the CT t ETBD groups,*** difference in the magnitude of ABG reduction in the two groups was significant at 3 and 6 months of postoperative follow-up(P<0.05)in favour of the CT t ETBD ***:ETBD can increase the success rate of cartilage tympanoplasty in patients with AdOM by enhancing the audiological outcome and quality of life.

A renewable energy plant which relies on wind speed or solar insolation is unreliable because of the stochastic nature of weather patterns. It is theorized that by using multiple renewable energy plants in separate areas of a region, the different weather conditions might approach a probabilistically independent relationship. The goal of this paper is to utilize the power system technology to help disseminate wind and solar power systems to get a stable energy. A new approach to get appropriate stable energy is achieved by using the interrupted energy that obtained from wind farm and solar insolation. This is achieved by lifting water to a higher level with appropriate pumps and storing it in the form of potential energy. Then a stable energy is obtained by reliving water to the lower level. In this paper, the efficiency obtained from the renewable energy is compared with that obtained from traditional ones. An experimental model to simulate the process of converting the renewable energy to a stable energy is presented. The obtained results from experimental model explained that the renewable energy can be converted to a stable one with high efficiency.

AIM To evaluate the evolution, trends in surgical approaches a n d r e c o n s t r u c t i o n t e c h n i q u e s, a n d i m p o r t a n t lessons learned from performing 1000 consecutive pancreaticoduodenectomies(PDs) for periampullary *** This is a retrospective review of the data of all patients who underwent PD for periampullary tumor during the period from January 1993 to April 2017. The data were categorized into three periods, including early period(1993-2002), middle period(2003-2012), and late period(2013-2017).RESULTS The frequency showed PD was increasingly performed after the year 2000. With time, elderly, cirrhotic and obese patients, as well as patients with uncinate process carcinoma and borderline tumor were increasingly selected for PD. The median operative time and postoperative hospital stay decreased significantly over the periods. Hospital mortality declined significantly, from 6.6% to 3.1%. Postoperative complications significantly decreased, from 40% to 27.9%. There was significant decrease in postoperative pancreatic fistula in the second 10 years, from 15% to 12.7%. There was a significant improvement in median survival and overall survival among the *** Surgical results of PD significantly improved, with mortality rate nearly reaching 3%. Pancreatic reconstruction following PD is still debatable. The survival rate was also improved but the rate of recurrence is still high, at 36.9%.

Prostate cancer is a common disease with a multifactorial and complex etiology. It is the most common male malignancy and the second leading cause of death in many countries. The widespread use of PSA testing has increased the detection of this cancer at earlier stages, although this diagnostic method has proved to be insufficient to identify the disease. DNA in most cells is regularly damaged by endogenous and exogenous mutagens. At least four main partially overlapping damage repair pathways operate in mammals. Common polymorphisms in DNA repair genes may alter protein function and an individual’s capacity to repair damaged DNA;deficits in repair capacity may lead to genetic instability and carcinogenesis. In the present study, we investigated the genotypic distribution of XRCC1 and XPC polymorphisms and its association with prostate cancer risk, pathological staging and Gleason’s scoring. The present study was conducted in the departments of Clinical Pathology, Pathology, and Urology Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University-Egypt. A total number of 50 patients with pathologically confirmed prostate cancer and 50 age-matched control subjects were enrolled in this study. The diagnosis was made on the basis of histopathological findings, following radical prostatectomy or transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood using QIAamp blood DNA isolation kits. PCR followed by enzymatic digestion of the PCR products for (XRCC1, XPC) was used for the genotyping of these polymorphisms. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS statistics version 20. The genotype frequencies of the studied polymorphisms in all the samples (n = 100), PC patients (n = 50) and healthy controls (n = 50) were consistent with the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium distribution (p-value > 0.05). When analysing the thermal conductivity of magnetic fluids, the traditional Sharma-Tasso-Olver (STO) equation is crucial. The Sharma-Tasso-Olive equation’s approximate solution is the primary goal of this work. The quintic B-spline collocation method is used for solving such nonlinear partial differential equations. The developed plan uses the collocation approach and finite difference method to solve the problem under consideration. The given problem is discretized in both time and space directions. Forward difference formula is used for temporal discretization. Collocation method is used for spatial discretization. Additionally, by using Von Neumann stability analysis, it is demonstrated that the devised scheme is stable and convergent with regard to time. Examining two analytical approaches to show the effectiveness and performance of our approximate solution.

Magnesium (Mg) and its alloys are one of a novel kind of biodegradable metallic implants which attracted much fundamental research to develop its clinical application. Nevertheless, it has more restrictions in biomedical applications because it degrades too fast at the early stage after implantation, thus commonly leading to some problems such as early fast mechanical loss, hydric bubble aggregation, gap formation between the implants and the tissue. This work aims to study the effect of 0.5 wt% Sb addition on the microstructure, mechanical properties and degradation behavior of as cast Mg-4wt% Zn alloy. The evaluation process was conducted using optical and scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, tensile and compression tests, in addition to a corrosion study by immersing in simulated body fluid (SBF). Results showed that Sb refines the grain size of the base alloy and also enhances its mechanical properties and degradation rate as well. These were due to the formation of the secondary phase of Mg3Sb2. To get better degradation rate, the Mg-4wt% Zn and Mg-4wt% Zn-0.5wt% Sb alloys are coated with Ca-P using autocatalytic technique. The results demonstrated that the formed coat layer improves the degradation rate of samples under the condition of this study. The current study shows that Mg-4wt% Zn-0.5wt% Sb alloy has good mechanical properties and when it coated by Ca-P, it gave a better corrosion resistance that makes it ideal for biodegradable medical application.
