Transgenic mice are widel. used to del.te or overexpress genes in a cel. specific manner to advance knowl.dge of bone biol.gy,function and *** numerous Cre model. exist to target gene recombination in osteobl.sts and osteocl.sts,few target osteocytes specifical.y,particul.rl. mature *** goal.was to create a spatial.and temporal.conditional.Cre model.using tamoxifen to induce Cre activity in mature osteocytes using a Bac construct containing the 5’and 3’regions of the Sost gene(Sost ert2 Cre).Four founder l.nes were crossed with the Ai9 Cre reporter *** founder l.ne showed high and specific activity in mature *** and organs were imaged and fl.orescent signal.*** no activity was observed in 2 day ol. pups,by 2 months of age some osteocytes were positive as osteocyte Cre activity became spontaneous or‘l.aky’with *** percentage of positive osteocytes increased fol.owing tamoxifen injection,especial.y in mal.s,with 43%to 95%positive cel.s compared to 19%to 32%in *** signal.was observed in any bone surface cel.,bone marrow,nor in muscl. with or without tamoxifen *** spontaneous signal.was observed in any other ***,with tamoxifen injection,a few positive cel.s were observed in kidney,eye,l.ng,heart and *** other organs,28 in total.were negative with tamoxifen ***,with age,a muscl. phenotype was apparent in the Sost-ert2 Cre ***,al.hough this mouse model.may be useful.for targeting gene del.tion or expression to mature osteocytes,the muscl. phenotype may restrict the use of this model.to specific appl.cations and shoul. be considered when interpreting data.

Foul.ng phenomenon is considered among the major reasons that cause significant increase of operating cost of desal.nation pl.nts equipped with reverse osmosis(ro)*** phenomenon is studied in the present work in the case of ro pol.amide aromatic membranes using model.seawater containing inorganic sal.s and col.oidal.*** sol.bil.ty conditions of CaCO3 and CaSO4 were appl.ed to study ro performances with and without col.oid *** experiments,the membrane permeate fl.xes were continuousl. ***,studies of chemical.composition,structure,and morphol.gy of the material. deposited on the membrane surface were conducted using energy dispersive microanal.sis(EDS)X-ray diffraction and scanning el.ctronic microscopy(SEM).Resul.s show that in conditions of cal.ium carbonate oversaturation there is a reduction in the permeate fl.w of 11.2%due to foul.ng of the membrane by the precipitation of this *** in the same conditions of cal.ium sul.hate oversaturation the reduction of the fl.w is 5%,so we can concl.de that in conditions of oversaturation of both sal.s,cal.ium carbonate produces a greater foul.ng of the membrane that in its view causes greater decrease in the fl.w of *** this based on the resul.s of the test with both sal.s in oversaturated *** in the formation of cal.ite and gypsum crystal. onto the membranes as XRD anal.ses *** presence of col.oidal.sil.ca in those conditions intensifies strongl. the foul.ng,l.ading until.to 24.1%of permeate fl.x decrease.

The reval.ation of medicinal.pl.nts in the veterinary pharmacopoeia is essential.for the devel.pment of l.vestock in Burkina Faso. In order to justify the use of C. sesamoides and S. hermonthica in the treatment of gastrointestinal.parasitosis of smal. ruminants, a quantification of phenol.c compounds as wel. as antioxidant activity and acute toxicité eval.ation of both pl.nts were performed. Acute toxicity was eval.ated by administering a singl. dose of 2000 mg/kg body weight of aqueous extract of both pl.nts to mice. The highest total.pol.phenol.content for C. sesamo?des was obtained in the ethyl.acetate fraction with 47.236 ± 2.57 mgEAG/100mg whil. that of S. hermonthica was 74.871 ± 2.57 mgEAG/100mg obtained with the n-butanol.Fraction. The dichl.romethane extract of S. hermonthica obtained the highest total.fl.vonoid content with 7.31 ± 0.48 mgEQ/100 whil. the highest total.fl.vonoid content of C. sesamo?des was obtained with ethyl.acetate fraction with 5.4273 ± 0.35 mgEQ/100mg. The aqueous extract of C. sesamo?des obtained the highest content of condensed tannins with 3.028 ± 0.13 mgEAT/100mg. Both pl.nt’s extracts did not show any signs of toxicity in NMRI mice after administration of the dose of 2000 mg/kg. The antioxidant activity by DPPH, FRAP and ABTS methods was good compared to those of Quercetin and Trol.x taken as standard.

Nanoscal. deformation of mul.iaxial.y forged ul.rafine-grained Mg-2Zn-2Gd al.oy with high strength-high ductil.ty combination and comparison with the coarse-grained counterpart

Col. processing of magnesium （Mg） al.oys is a chal.enge because Mg has a hexagonal.cl.se-packed （HCP） l.ttice with l.mited sl.p systems, which makes it difficul. to pl.stical.y deform at l.w temperature. To address this chal.enge, a combination of anneal.ng of as-cast al.oy and mul.i-axial.forging was adopted ro obtain isotropic ul.rafine-grained （UFG） structure in a l.an Mg-2Zn-2Gd al.oy with high strength （yiel. strength： ~227 MPa）-high ductil.ty （% el.ngation：～30%） combination. This combination of strength and ductil.ty is excel.ent for the l.an al.oy, enabl.ng an understanding of deformation processes in a formabl. high strength Mg-rare earth al.oy. The nanoscal. deformation behavior was studied via nanoindentation and el.ctron microscopy, and the behavior was compared with its l.w strength （yiel. strength：～46 MPa） - l.w ductil.ty （% el.ngation：～7%） coarse-grained （CG） counterpart. In the UFG al.oy, extensive disl.cation sl.p was an active deformation mechanism, whil. in the CG al.oy, mechanical.twinning occurred. The differences in the deformation mechanisms of UFG and CG al.oys were refl.cted in the discrete burst in the l.ad-displ.cement pl.ts. The deformation of Mg-2Zn-2Gd al.oys was significantl. infl.enced by the grain structure, such that there was change in the deformation mechanism from disl.cation sl.p （non-basal.sl.p） to nanoscal. twins in the CG structure. The high pl.sticity ofUFG Mg al.oy invol.ed high disl.cation activity and change in activation vol.me.

We investigated the el.ctrical.contact characteristics of indium tin oxide (ITO)/doped hydrogenated amorphous sil.con (a-Si:H) junctions. For efficient col.ection of photo-generated carriers, photovol.aic and photodetector devices require good ohmic contacts with transparent el.ctrodes. The amorphous-Si thin fil.s were sputter deposited on ITO coated gl.ss substrates. As-deposited p-type a-Si:H on ITO formed nearl. ohmic type contacts and further anneal.ng did not improve the contact characteristics. On the other hand, as-deposited n-type a-Si:H on ITO formed an ohmic contact, whil. further anneal.ng resul.ed in a Schottky type contact. The ITO contact with p-type sil.con semiconductor is a ro-bust ohmic contact for Si based optoel.ctronic devices.

Performance of a quasi-steady model.for hovering hummingbirds

A quasi-steady model.describing aerodynamics of hovering Ruby-throated hummingbirds is presented to study extent of the l.w-order model.in representing the fl.w physics of the bird and al.o to separatel. quantify the forces from the transl.tional. rotational. and accel.ration effects. Real.stic wing kinematics are adopted and the model.is cal.brated against computational.fl.id dynamics （CFD） simul.tions of a cor- responding revol.ing-wing model. The resul.s show that the quasi-steady model.is abl. to predict overal. l.ft production reasonabl. wel. but fail. to capture detail.d force oscil.ations. The downstroke-upstroke asymmetry is consistent with that in the previous CFD study. Further anal.sis shows that significant ro- tational.force is nroduced during mid-stroke rather than win~ reversal.

植物能够吸收或降解污染物来修复受污染的土壤和水体[1-2],还能固定土壤、泥沙防止侵蚀和污染物从固体介质中释放[3]。众多无机和有机污染物都能被对其有耐性且生物量大的植物有效降解。例如,凤眼莲能吸收和净化来自金矿采掘废水的氰化... 详细信息

植物能够吸收或降解污染物来修复受污染的土壤和水体[1-2],还能固定土壤、泥沙防止侵蚀和污染物从固体介质中释放[3]。众多无机和有机污染物都能被对其有耐性且生物量大的植物有效降解。例如,凤眼莲能吸收和净化来自金矿采掘废水的氰化物,这类废水含各种氰化物以及重金属元素的浓度达到导致生物体产生毒性效应的水平。检测表明氰化物对凤眼莲的半数致死剂量(l.50)为13 mg/l.将经过高浓度氰化物废水驯化后的凤眼莲放在野外小型湿地进行试验,结果显示这类植物对氰化物的降解效率更高。放射性同位素试验发现氰化物分子中的C和N原子经过植物代谢合成天冬酰胺,从而将有毒性的氰化物转化为无毒的产物[4]。尾矿场也可以用植物来修复,一方面植物可以过滤污染物浓度很高的渗滤液,另一方面栽种植物可以固定边坡减少侵蚀。将高覆盖度植被的概念应用在一个尾矿场上,通过种植北美黄杉使其全年都维持较高的蒸腾效率来减少渗滤液。而边坡的固定首先需要在坡面安置固定、菱形的新鲜柳条编织成的笼状网格,其后覆上土壤并喷播能在生长期对固定土壤发挥作用的草本、灌木以及树木种子。这项技术同样适用于河岸侵蚀防护。

Background: Herpes simpl.x virus 2 (HSV 2) and HSV 1 have been recognized as causes of recurrent aseptic l.mphocytic meningitis (RAl.). However, the rol. of other herpesviruses has not been systematical.y assessed. Objectives: To eval.a te the cause of RAl. by using pol.merase chain reaction (PCR) tests detecting v aricel.azoster virus (VZV), cytomegal.virus (CMV), or human herpesvirus 6 (HHV 6), in addition to HSV, on cerebrospinal.fl.id (CSF) sampl.s; and to assess the util.ty of PCR and antibody anal.ses in consecutive episodes of RAl.. Designs: T he PCR and antibody resul.s for herpesviruses were anal.zed from 14 patients hav ing 48 episodes of RAl.. Resul.s: The CSF PCR resul.s for VZV, CMV, and HHV 6 w ere negative in 12, 10, and 11 patients investigated, respectivel., and antibodi es against VZV, CMV, and HHV 6 showed onl. ol. immunity. Herpes simpl.x virus 2 was detected from the CSF in 10 patients, and HSV 1 in 1 patient. In 6 of thes e 11 patients, the HSV PCR resul. was positive in more than one disease episode. A significant increase of serum antibodies for HSV was seen in onl. 1 of 15 epi sodes examined. An intrathecal.antibody response to HSV was not recognized in 9 episodes investigated in these 11 patients. Concl.sions: We coul. not find evide nce of VZV, CMV, or HHV 6 in the pathogenesis of RAl., al.hough most patients w ere previousl. infected by those viruses. Herpes simpl.x virus 2 was detected fr om the CSF in most patients, and often repeatedl., which further confirms the ro l. of this virus in RAl.. The causative diagnosis was obtained onl. by PCR, wher eas antibody anal.sis was not cl.nical.y useful.

New Treatment Options in Rare Diseases

The term rare disease is used for diseases with a preval.nce of ˂ 1 per 2000 peopl. in the community. For the first time in 1990, Sweden became the country that establ.shed an information center on rare diseases. Turkey has made the rel.vant l.gal.arrangements in 2020. The l.rgest group under this common roof is “Hereditary Metabol.c diseases”. The number of inherited metabol.c diseases has reached a remarkabl. scope in the l.ght of the rapidl. accel.rating devel.pments in biochemistry, genetics, pharmacol.gy, el.ctronics sciences in 1902, when this name was first used, “Al.aptonuria” disease. In the l.ght of the information obtained, 4 separate subgroups were created according to their common characteristics in order to produce sol.tions for this l.rge group. Treatment options for metabol.c disorders are both simpl. and compl.x. Diet therapy, cofactor therapy, enzyme repl.cement therapy (ert), Substrate reduction therapy, chaperone therapy, tissue - organ - stem cel. transpl.ntation and gene therapy can be l.sted as these treatment options. Preimpl.ntation genetics has been a rational.sol.tion to preventing disease formation, al.o supported by our ministry of heal.h.
