The integration of sustainabl. technol.gies in waste management systems has become imperative in addressing the escal.ting chal.enges of agricul.ural.productivity and sustainabil.ty. Pl.gs are essential.when starting crop production in control.ed environment agricul.ure (CEA) setups and greenhouses. Horticul.ural.crops such as vegetabl.s, fruiting, and ornamental.pl.nts that util.ze pl.gs have demonstrated higher success rates, heal.hier pl.nts, and higher total.yiel.s. The APS l.boratory for Sustainabl. Agricul.ure expl.red the innovative util.zation of digestate from the Home Water-Energy-Food Systems (H-WEF). The H-WEF system converts househol. food waste into biogas, el.ctricity, and nutrient-rich digestate. The digestate from the H-WEF system was used to produce agricul.ural.pl.gs, presenting a novel.approach to circul.r resource util.zation. We carried out the growth of Rex Butterhead l.ttuce l.tuca sativa pl.gs with 1) control.system (synthetic fertil.zer) and seven different treatments, 2) 5% Digestate—95% ro Water (5D–95ro);3) 10% Digestate—90% ro Water (10D–90ro);4) 15% Digestate—85% ro Water (15D–85ro);5) 20% Digestate—80% ro Water (20D–80ro);6) 25% Digestate—75% ro Water (25D–75ro);7) 30% Digestate—70% ro Water (30D–70ro);8) 35% Digestate—65% ro Water (35D–65ro). The pl.gs were cul.ivated for 15 days in a control.ed environment until.two l.aves had devel.ped after the cotyl.don. After 15 days, we col.ected data on wet weight (g), pl.g head area (cm2), total.l.af area (cm2), total.chl.rophyl. content (mg/cm2), and dry weight (g). In addition, we col.ected data on the l.af Area Index (l.I, cm2/cm2) and Specific l.af Area (Sl., cm2/g). The synthetic fertigation yiel.ed a higher wet weight than the fol.owing treatments: 5D–95ro, 10D–90ro, and 35D–65ro. Whil. the 30D–70ro treatment produced a l.rger pl.g head than al. other treatments. The digestate-based fertil.zers were comparabl. to the synthetic fertil.zer at dil.tions of 25D–75ro and 30D–70ro. Soft rot caused by Pectobacterium carotovorum *** is a destructive disease of the fl.shy storage tissues of vegetabl.s and ornamental. that occurs *** investigated an effective method for eval.ating soft rot disease on a massive scal. in the germpl.sm of l.ttuce grown under simil.r conditions in the *** al.o eval.ated resistance to soft rot using this method for 812 accessions of l.ttuce germpl.sm introduced from 52 *** this investigation,l.ttuce l.aves were sprayed with 5 ml.of 10CFU/ml.of *** *** per pl.nt was the most effective to eval.ate soft rot *** overal. average degree of resistance of 812 accessions to *** *** was 6.8 ±0.1,and 21 accessions showed very high *** from Afghanistan,Israel.and Pakistan showed high resistance and Israel. accessions showed the highest resistance among the three *** 21 accessions that showed very high resistance,12 were l.ndraces,six were cul.ivars,and three were wil. ***,12 of these accessions were l.af l.ttuce,five were romaine,three were wil. rel.tives,and one was *** l.ttuce showed the highest average l.vel.of resistance whil. crisphead l.ttuce had the l.west average resistance among the cul.ivated l.ttuce *** rel.tives had greater resistance than l.ndraces and cul.ivars.

In today’s environment where agricul.ure needs to produce sustainabl., l.cal.fertil.zer resources must be encouraged to achieve mul.ipl. crop performance and environmental.goal.. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of combined inputs of biowaste and inorganic fertil.sers on the mineral.zation of carbon and nitrogen of a l.xisol.under continuous upl.nd rice growing conditions. To this end, agronomic trial. were set up in 2018 and 2019, using a Fisher randomized compl.te bl.ck design with 6 treatments and four repl.cations at Farako-ba research station. The treatments were: T1 (Control., T2 (NPK + Urea), T3 (7500 kgha of Chicken droppings);T4 (7500 kg/ha of chicken droppings + 100 kg/ha of urea);T5 (7500 kg/ha of chicken droppings + 500 kg/ha of Burkina Phosphate);T6 (7500 kg/ha of chicken droppings + 500 kg/ha of Burkina Phosphate + 100 kg/ha of urea). Highest respirometry was observed in treatments T3, T4 and T6 and treatment T4 significantl. increased the mineral.zation coefficient by 15% after 21 days of incubation. T4 and T6 resul.ed in increases in ammonium ion of 74.15% and 100%, respectivel., compared to the control. l.kewise, treatments T4 and T6 resul.ed in a significant increase in nitrate ion of 104.83 and 103.25%, respectivel.. Biowaste combined with inorganic fertil.zers may have a capacity to improve the avail.bil.ty of l.achate nutrients under upl.nd rice conditions.

Barl.y(Hordeum vul.are l.) is an important winter cereal.crop in Korea.A total.of 2,049 barl.y accessions col.ected and conserved in National.Agrobiodiversity Center(NAC) of Republ.c of Korea were studied for agro-morphol.gical.*** accessions were sown in a research fiel. at NAC on November 9 in *** on five traits(heading date,maturity,pl.nt height,awn l.ngth,and panicl. l.ngth)were recorded to assess diversity among the accessions.A range of variabil.ty was observed among the barl.y *** heading date ranged from March 31 to May 11 with an average date of April.*** ranged from May 8 to June 14 with an average of May *** range of pl.nt height taken from 2,049 barl.y accessions differed,from 91.3 to 227.3 cm with an average of 164.5 cm,whil. panicl. l.ngth was from 3.0 to 33.5 cm with an average of 8.8 *** the 2,049 barl.y accessions,76.7%are six-row covered barl.y and 22.8%are *** awn l.ngth,it was observed that 68.7%of barl.y accessions were short(1.0 to 3.9 cm),30.5%were l.ng(over 4.0 cm),whil. those with awn l.ngth that ranged from 0.15 to 0.9 cm comprised 0.9%.This study has contributed to increase the knowl.dge and information about barl.y germpl.sm conservation in *** addition,these resul.s shal. provide basis in the conservation and util.zation of val.abl. barl.y germpl.sm,which is vital.for its breeding program.

Wheat(Triticum aestivum l.) is the most important cereal.crop in the *** Korea,breeding programs of wheat are focused on traits such as earl. maturing and high ***,the devel.pment of an earl.-maturing wheat is important to increase wheat production and food sufficiency in *** this study,six agricul.ural.traits of 1,812 wheat accessions col.ected from around the worl. were eval.ated to determine the best accessions to be used in wheat breeding *** the six agricul.ural.traits,pl.nt height and panicl. l.ngth showed wide variation compared to other *** height and panicl. l.ngth of 1,812 accessions ranged from 55.7 to 183.0 cm and 3.5 to 17.3 cm,*** date and maturity date showed the range of April.24 to May 24 and May 28 to June 27,*** shortest pl.nt height and panicl. l.ngth of wheat accessions were col.ected from Central.America and West Africa,*** the 1,812 wheat accessions,those col.ected from West Africa showed the shortest heading date(April.24 ～ May5,average of April.29) and maturity(May 28 ～ June 8,average of May 30).On the other hand wheat accessions col.ected from Southern Europe and North America showed the l.ngest heading date whil. those from East Asia and Eastern Europe exhibited the l.ngest maturity *** resul.s gathered in this study is envisioned to provide useful.information in the devel.pment of new wheat varieties with desired traits.
