Morphometry of leaf and shoot variables to assess aboveground biomass structure and carbon sequestration by different varieties of white mulberry(Morus alba L.)

Mulberry is economically important and can also play a pivotal role in mitigating greenhouse *** and shoot traits were measured for Morus alba ***,*** ***,*** ***,and *** ***-1 to assess aboveground biomass(AGB)and carbon ***-specific and multivariety allometric AGB models were developed using the equivalent diameter at breast height(EDBH)and plant height(H).The completeharvest method was used to measure leaf and shoot traits and biomass,and the ash method was used to measure organic carbon *** results showed significant(p<0.01)varietal differences in leaf and shoot traits,AGB and carbon ***-1 variety had the greatest leaf density(mean±SE:1828.3±0.3 leaves tree^(-1)),Karyansuban had the largest mean leaf area(185.94±8.95 cm^(2)).A diminishing return was found between leaf area and leaf *** had the highest shoot density per tree(46.6±1.83 shoots tree^(-1)),total shoot length(264.1±2.32 m),dry biomass(16.69±0.58 kg tree^(-1)),carbon sequestration(9.99±0.32 kg tree^(-1))and CO_(2) mitigation(36.67±1.16 kg).The variety-specific AGB models b(EDBH)and b(EDBH)2 showed good fit and reasonable accuracy with a coefficient of determination(R^(2))=0.98-0.99,standard error of estimates(SEE)=0.1125-0.3130 and root mean square error(RMSE)=*** multivariety models bln(EDBH)and(EDBH)0.756 showed good-fitness and accuracy with R^(2)=0.85-0.86,SEE=1.6231-1.6445 and RMSE=*** the basis of these findings,variety Latifolia has good potential for biomass production,and allometric equations based on EDBH can be used to estimate AGB with a reasonable accuracy.

Multiple ocular region segmentation plays an important role in different applications such as biometrics,liveness detection,healthcare,and gaze ***,segmentation techniques focus on a single region of the eye at a *** the number of obvious advantages,very limited research has focused on multiple regions of the ***,accurate segmentation of multiple eye regions is necessary in challenging scenarios involving blur,ghost effects low resolution,off-angles,and unusual ***,the available segmentation methods cannot address these *** this paper,to address the accurate segmentation of multiple eye regions in unconstrainted scenarios,a lightweight outer residual encoder-decoder network suitable for various sensor images is *** proposed method can determine the true boundaries of the eye regions from inferior-quality images using the high-frequency information flow from the outer residual encoder-decoder deep convolutional neural network(called ORED-Net).Moreover,the proposed ORED-Net model does not improve the performance based on the complexity,number of parameters or network *** proposed network is considerably lighter than previous state-of-theart *** experiments were performed,and optimal performance was achieved using SBVPI and UBIRIS.v2 datasets containing images of the eye *** simulation results obtained using the proposed OREDNet,with the mean intersection over union score(mIoU)of 89.25 and 85.12 on the challenging SBVPI and UBIRIS.v2 datasets,respectively.

Urban Heat Island （UHI） is considered as one of the major problems in the 21st century posed to human beings as a result of urbanization and industrialization of human civilization. The large amount of heat generated from urban structures, as they consume and re-radiate solar radiations, and from the anthropogenic heat sources are the main causes of UHI. The two heat sources increase the temperatures of an urban area as compared to its surroundings, which is known as Urban Heat Island Intensity （UHII）. The problem is even worse in cities or metropolises with large population and extensive economic activities. The estimated three billion people living in the urban areas in the world are directly exposed to the problem, which will be increased significantly in the near future. Due to the severity of the problem, vast research effort has been dedicated and a wide range of literature is available for the subject. The literature available in this area includes the latest research approaches, concepts, methodologies, latest investigation tools and mitigation measures. This study was carded out to review and summarize this research area through an investigation of the most important feature of UHI. It was concluded that the heat re-radiated by the urban structures plays the most important role which should be investigated in details to study urban heating especially the UHI. It was also concluded that the future research should be focused on design and planning parameters for reducing the effects of urban heat island and ultimately living in a better environment.

Sb is a very effective dopant for ZrNiSn based half-Heusler *** effect of Ti substitution on Zr0.75Hf0.25NiSn0.985Sb0.015half-Heusler(HH) semiconductor alloys has been investigated to explore the structural modifications and composition ***0.25Zr0.75-xNiSn0.985Sb0.015(x=0,0.15,0.30,0.45) alloys were synthesized by induction melting.A set of samples was also annealed for comparative *** samples were then sintered using plasma activated sintering(PAS) *** results confirmed the existence of ZrNiSn type HH *** electron(BSE) images showed phase separations in the *** substitution improved the carrier concentration and electrical conductivity of the ***,thermal conductivity was also significantly reduced due to the enhanced phonon ***,a ZT value of 1.11 at 873 K was obtained for 30% Ti substituted(annealed) sample.

Smart appliances and renewable energy resources are becoming an integral part of smart homes. Nowadays, home appliances are communicating with each other with home short-range home area gateways, using existing network communication protocols such as ZigBee, Bluetooth, RFID, and WiFi. A Gateway allows homeowners and utilities to communicate remotely with the appliances via long-range communication networks such as GPRS, WiMax, LTE, and power liner carrier. This paper utilizes the Internet of Things （IoT） concepts to monitor and control home appliances. Moreover, this paper proposes a framework that enables the integration and the coordination of Human-to-Appliance, Utility-to- Appliance, and Appliance-to-Appliance. Utilizing the concepts of Internet of Things leads to one standard communication protocols, TCP/IPV6, which overcomes the many diverse home area networks and neighborhood area networks protocols. This work proposes a cloud based framework that enables the IoTs integration and supports the coordination between devices, as well as with device-human interaction. A prototype is designed, implemented, and tested to validate the proposed solution.

Situs inversus abdominus with rotational anomaly of the intestines is an extremely rare condition. Although intestinal malrotation has been recognized as a cause of obstruction in infants and children and may be complicated by intestinal ischaemia, it is very rare in adults. When it occurs in the adult patient, it may present acutely as bowel obstruction or intestinal ischaemia or chronically as vague intermittent abdominal pain. Herein, we present an acute presentation of a case of situs inversus abdominus and intestinal malrotation with Ladd＇s band leading to infarction of the intestine in a 32 year old woman.

Fiber metal laminates have many advantages over traditional laminates （e.g., any type of fiber and resin material can be placed anywhere between the metallic layers without risk of failure of the composite fabric sheets）. Furthermore, the process requirements to strictly control the temperature and punch force in fiber metal laminates are also less stringent than those in traditional laminates. To further explore the novel method, this study conducts a finite element method-based （FEM-based） strain analysis on multilayer blanks by using the 3A method. Different forming modes such as wrinkling and fracture are discussed by using experimental and numerical studies. Hydroforming is used for multilayer forming. The Barlat 2000 yield criteria and DYNAFORM/LS-DYNA are used for the simulations. Optimal process parameters are determined on the basis of fixed die-binder gap and variable cavity pressure. The results of this study will enhance the knowledge on the mechanics of multilayer structures formed by using the 3A method and expand its commercial applications.

There are many certain and uncertain design factors which have unrevealed rational effects on the generation of tensile damage and the stability of the circular tunnels during seismic *** this research paper,we have dedicated three certain and four uncertain design factors to quantify their rational effects using numerical simulations and the Sobol's sensitivity *** effects and interaction effects between the design factors have been determined supporting on variance-based global sensitivity *** results detected that the concrete modulus of elasticity for the tunnel lining has the greatest effect on the tensile damage generation in the tunnel lining during the seismic *** the other direction,the interactions between the concrete density and both of concrete modulus of elasticity and tunnel diameter have appreciable effects on the tensile ***,the tunnel diameter has the deciding effect on the stability of the tunnel *** the interaction between the tunnel diameter and concrete density has appreciable effect on the stability *** is worthy to mention that SoboFs sensitivity indices manifested strong efficiency in detecting the roles of each design factor in cooperation with the numerical simulations explaining the responses of the circular tunnel during seismic actions.
