Formation of crystalline particles from phase change emulsion： Influence of different parameters

Solidification or crystallization of phase change emulsion in the form of fine emulsion drops in a direct contact coolant at temperatures below their freezing point was studied. This work is mainly focused on the size and shape of the generated partides from phase change emulsified fats. Size of the particles is the major or key factor being considered during their formation, however, other factors that govern the particle size and shape were also observed. The operating parameters of the process were optimized in order to obtain particles of smaller size ranges in the window of current operating conditions. The crystallization of complex emulsion maffices is very difficult to control in the bulk at desired requirement. Hence, the emulsion drop to particle formation has advan- tage in comparison with the bulk solidification or crystallization. The main objective of this work is to achieve spherical emulsion particles in a direct contact cooling system. Parameters like： stat）ility, characterization, viscos- ity, and the effect of different energy inputs were examined. Moreover, the effects of the capillary size, interracial tension, temperature of the emulsion on the particle size were also monitrored.

This study investigates the influence of using ground palm oil fuel ash(G-POFA) from 10%-30% as cement replacement(by weight) on the cement mortar's pH under various curing conditions. These findings were supplemented by thermal gravimetric analysis(TGA). Moreover, the resistance of G-POFA blended cement mortars to water absorption and sorptivity was determined. Further, the k-value test was carried out to explain the pozzolanic and filler behavior of G-POFA and to support the results obtained from TGA. It was found that there was no significant impact of several curing conditions on the pH of mortars. The mortar with 10% G-POFA in replacement of cement(G-POFA-10) exhibited the best resistance against water absorption and sorptivity.

The authenticity and integrity of healthcare is the primary *** reversible watermarking schemes have been developed to improve the primary objective but increasing the quantity of embedding data leads to covering image distortion and visual quality resulting in data security detection.A trade-off between robustness,imperceptibility,and embedded capacity is difficult to achieve with current algorithms due to limitations in their *** this purpose insight,an improved reversibility watermarking methodology is proposed to maximize data embedding capacity and imperceptibility while maintaining data security as a primary concern.A key is generated by a random path with minimum bit flipping is selected in the 4 × 4 block to gain access to the data embedding *** random path's complex structure ensures data *** of various sizes(8 KB,16 KB,32 KB)are used to analyze image imperceptibility and evaluate quality *** proposed reversible watermarking methodology performance is tested under standard structures PSNR,SSIM,and *** results revealed that the MRI watermarked images are imperceptible,like the cover image when LSB is 3 bits *** proposed reversible watermarking methodology outperforms other related techniques in terms of average PSNR(49.29).Experiment results show that the suggested reversible watermarking method improves data embedding capacity and imperceptibility compared to existing state-of-the-art approaches.

Construction of binary assembled MOF-derived nanocages with dual-band microwave absorbing properties

It is challenging to prepare a binary assembled metal-organic framework(MOF) by anisotropic epitaxial growth method. Besides, nanocages(NCs) with hollow structures are often constructed to improve microwave absorbing abilities. Herein, we combine the selective epitaxial growth and hollow engineering technologies to fabricate hybrid MOF-derived NCs. Benefiting from the unique nanocage/porous structure,complementary magnetic/dielectric components and suitable impedance matching characteristics, the optimized absorber(CoNi/TiO@PC-NCs) exhibits unique microwave absorbing properties. It is worth noting that the minimum reflection loss(RLmin) of the absorber reaches-65.3 dB, and the overall effective absorption bandwidth(EAB, RL <-10 dB) covers 15.1 GHz(2.9–18 GHz). The maximum EAB under a single thickness covers 4.4 GHz, displaying skipping dual-band coverages at both high and low frequencies. This work might provide a novel perspective for the synthesis of assembled MOF-derived absorbers.

Steam explosion of crop straws improves the characteristics of biochar as a soil amendment

Five crop straws (wheat, rice, maize, oil-rape, and cotton) were first steam-exploded for 2 min at 210℃, 2.5 MPa and then pyrolyzed at 500℃ for 2 h. Steam explosion (SE) induced 47–95% and 5–16% reduction of hemicellulose and cellulose, respectively, in the crop straws. The biochars derived from SE-treated feedstocks had a lower specific surface area (SSA) and pore volume, compared to those from pristine feedstocks, with one exception that SE enhanced SSA of oil-rape straw biochar by approximately 16 times. After SE, biochars had significant higher anion exchange capacity (AEC) (6.88–11.44 cmol kg–1) and point of zero net charges (PZNC) (pH 3.61–5.32) values. It can thus be speculated that these biochars may have higher potential for anions adsorption. In addition, oil-rape straw might be suitable to SE pretreatment for preparing biochar as a soil amendment and sorbent as well. Further work is required for testing its application in soil.
