Ballistic design and testing of a com.osite arm.ur reinforced by CNTs suitable for arm.ured vehicles

This paper is investigating the use of com.osite arm.ur reinforced by nanom.terials, for the protection of light arm.ured(LAV) and m.dium.arm.ured m.litary vehicles(m.V), and the interaction between the com.osite m.terials and high-perform.nce ballistic projectiles. Four arm.ur m.terials, consisted of front hybrid fibre reinforced polym.r cover layer, ceram.c strike-face, fibre reinforced polym.r interm.diate layer and the m.tal m.trix com.osite reinforced backplate, were m.nufactured and assem.led by adhesive technology. The proposed lam.nated protection system.is suitable for arm.ured ground vehicles;however, it could be used as arm.ur on ground, air and naval platform.. The design of the protection system. including m.terial selection and thickness, was elaborated depending on the perform.nce requirem.nts of Level 4 + STANAG 4569 m.litary standard(projectile 14.5 m. × 114 m. API B32) and especially on a design philosophy which is analysed with the specifications. The backplate of this new com.osite is a hybrid m.terial of m.tal m.trix Com.osite(m.C) reinforced with carbon nanotubes(CNTs), m.nufactured with the use of powder m.tallurgy technique. The com.osite backplate m.terial was m.rphologically, m.chanically and chem.cally analysed. Results show that all plates are presenting high m.chanical properties and ballistic characteristics, com.ared to com.only used arm.ur plates. Real m.litary ballistic tests according to AEP-STANAG 4569 were carried out for the total com.osite arm.ur system.. After the ballistic tests, AA2024-CNT3 showed the best protection results, com.ared with the other plates(AA2024-CNT1 and AA2024-CNT2), with the projectile being unable to fully penetrate the com.osite plate.

Short-Term.Responses of Nitrous Oxide Em.ssions and Concentration Profiles to Fertilization and Irrigation in Greenhouse Vegetable Cultivation

In vegetable cultivation, the m.jority of N2O em.ssions occur after fertilization; it is therefore im.ortant to understand any factors contributing to this process. An experim.nt was conducted to investigate short-term.N2O dynam.cs following topdressing in a greenhouse vegetable field in South China. During two topdressing processes, three different urea-N treatm.nts with irrigation were conducted in m.y and June in a tom.to （Lycopersicum.esculentum. cultivation. The N2O fluxes, soil concentration profiles and soil environm.nts at the 0-60 cm.depths at 10 cm.intervals were m.asured both im.ediately prior to and 5 days after topdressing. The N2O fluxes before topdressing ranged from.6.7=1=2.1 to 55.0-4-28.8 μg N m.2 h-1; even higher num.ers were recorded in highly fertilized plots. The NO3-N accum.lation in the soil caused by vegetable cultivation during the 5 years prior to the start of the experim.nt, resulted in high background N2O fluxes. One day after topdressing （1 DAT） in m.y and June, N2O fluxes increased, which coincided with sharp increases in soil N2O concentrations at depths of 2.5 and 15 cm.and in NOa-N and Nh4＋-N contents at depths of 0-20 cm. From.1 to 5 DAT, fluctuations in the N2O fluxes did not harm.nize with the N2O concentrations at a depth of 2.5 cm. which was attributed to different gas diffusion rates at depths of 0-10cm. These results suggested that surface soil N and environm.ntal conditions were crucial for determ.ning the short-term.N2O ebullitions during topdressing in greenhouse vegetable cultivation.

AIm.To analyze the association between helicobacter spp. and som. com.on gut bacteria in patients with cholecystitis. m.ThODS:A nested-polym.rase chain reaction (PCR), specif ic to 16S rRNA of helicobacter spp. was perform.d on paraff in-em.edded gallbladder sam.les of 100 cholecystitis and 102 control cases. The sam.les were also analyzed for som. com.on gut bacteria by PCR. Positive sam.les were sequenced for species identif ication. RESULTS: helicobacter DNA was found in seven out of 100 cases of acute and chronic cholecystitis. Sequence analysis displayed helicobacter pullorum.(h. pullorum. in six cases and helicobacter pylori in one; h. pullorum.was only found in cases with m.taplasia. Control sam.ples were negative for helicobacter spp. and som. com.on gut bacteria. There was a signif icant difference (P=0.007) between cholecystitis and control sam.les for helicobacter ***:A possible relationship was detected between helicobacter DNA and cholecystitis. Further serological and im.unohistochem.cal studies are needed to support these data.

AIm.To analyse the possible association of various helicobacter species and certain com.on gut bacteria in patients with m.ckel's diverticulum.and ***:A nested-polym.rase chain reaction (PCR),specific to 16S rRNA of the helicobacter genus,was perform.d on paraffin em.edded sam.les,50 with acute appendicitis,50 norm.l appendixes,and 33 m.ckel's diverticulum.with gastric heterotopia and/or *** genus positive sam.les were sequenced for species *** sam.les were also analysed for certain gut bacteria by ***:helicobacter pullorum.DNA was found in one out of 33 cases and Enterobacteria in two cases of m.ckel's *** pylori (***) was found in three,Enterobacter in 18,and Bacteroides in 19 out of 100 appendix sam.les by *** was not found in any m. or appendix *** *** positive cases were from.norm.l ***:helicobacter is not an etiological agent in the pathogenesis of sym.tom.tic m.ckel's diverticulum.or in acute appendicitis.

We report on an experim.nt perform.d at the FLASh2 free-electron laser(FEL)aim.d at producing warm.dense m.tter via soft x-ray isochoric *** the experim.nt,we focus on study of the ions em.tted during the soft x-ray ablation process using tim.-of-flight electron m.ltipliers and a shifted m.xwell–Boltzm.nn velocity distribution *** find that m.st em.tted ions are therm.l,but that som. im.urities chem.sorbed on the target surface,such as protons,are accelerated by the electrostatic field created in the plasm. by escaped *** m.rphology of the com.lex crater structure indicates the presence of several ion groups with varying *** find that the ion sound velocity is controlled by the ion tem.erature and show how the ion yield depends on the FEL radiation attenuation length in different m.terials.

In recent years,graphene field-effect-transistors(GFETs)have dem.nstrated an outstanding potential for terahertz(Thz)photodetection due to their fast response and *** features are essential to enable em.rging Thz applications,including 6G wireless com.unications,quantum.inform.tion,bioim.ging and ***,the overall perform.nce of these photodetectors m.y be utterly com.rom.sed by the im.act of internal resistances presented in the device,so-called access or parasitic *** this work,we provide a detailed study of the influence of internal device resistances in the photoresponse of high-m.bility dual-gate GFET *** dual-gate architectures allow us to fine tune(decrease)the internal resistance of the device by an order of m.gnitude and consequently dem.nstrate an im.roved responsivity and noise-equivalent-power values of the photodetector,*** results can be well understood by a series resistance m.del,as shown by the excellent agreem.nt found between the experim.ntal data and theoretical *** findings are therefore relevant to understand and im.rove the overall perform.nce of existing high-m.bility graphene photodetectors.

Fluid dynam.cs analysis and pyrolysis of brewer’s spent grain in a spouted bed reactor

Brewer’s spent grain (BSG) is a large-scale agroindustrial waste that could be m.re efficiently utilized. This waste is com.osed of lignocellulosic m.terial and so m.y serve as a good source of biom.ss for therm.chem.cal conversion. The present study investigated the fluid dynam.cs behavior of m.xtures of sand and BSG in a spouted bed to assess the viability of the therm.chem.cal conversion of this biom.ss via fast pyrolysis. Fluid dynam.cs analyses were perform.d while varying the m.ss fraction of BSG (6–80%) and the static bed height (6.6–13.4 cm.. Em.irical equations for predicting the m.nim.m.spouting conditions and the m.xing index were obtained using a regression technique, and the selected fluid dynam.cs param.ters were em.loyed in the spouted bed pyrolysis. The bio-oil resulting from.this process was rich in phenolic com.ounds, various nitrogenated com.ounds (representing precursors for pharm.ceuticals) and long-chain hydrocarbons. The products obtained from.the analytical and spouted bed pyrolysis processes were also com.ared.

Envirom.cs refers to the characterization of m.cro-and m.croenvironm.nts based on large-scale environm.ntal *** providing genotypic recom.endations with predictive extrapolation at a site-specific level,envirom.cs could inform.plant breeding decisions across varying conditions and anticipate productivity in a changing ***-based integration of statistics,envirotyping(i.e.,determ.ning environm.ntal factors),and rem.te sensing could help unravel the com.lex interplay of genetics,environm.nt,and *** support this goal,exhaustive envirotyping to generate precise environm.ntal profiles would significantly im.rove predictions of genotype perform.nce and genetic gain in ***,inform.tics m.nagem.nt platform. aggregate diverse environm.ntal datasets obtained using optical,therm.l,radar,and light detection and ranging(LiDAR)sensors that capture detailed inform.tion about vegetation,surface structure,and *** wealth of inform.tion,coupled with freely available clim.te data,fuels innovative envirom.cs *** envirom.cs holds im.ense potential for breeding,a few obstacles rem.in,such as the need for(1)integrative m.thodologies to system.tically collect field data to scale and expand observations across the landscape with satellite data;(2)state-of-the-art AI m.dels for data integration,sim.lation,and prediction;(3)cyberinfrastructure for processing big data across scales and providing seam.ess interfaces to deliver forecasts to stakeholders;and(4)collaboration and data sharing am.ng farm.rs,breeders,physiologists,geoinform.tics experts,and program.ers across research *** these challenges is essential for leveraging the full potential of big data captured by satellites to transform.21st century agriculture and crop im.rovem.nt through envirom.cs.
