SUMUDU TRANSFORM IN BICOMPLEX SPACE AND ITS APPLICATIONS

One of the major challenges in designing and fabricating Spintronic devices is the choice of both, Materials and the Technology, along with understanding the intricacies of the Designing aspects. In this communication, we have attempted to briefly discuss these factors, with an aim to draw the attention of the Materials Scientists and Technologists to this serious challenge, in the direction of which, though a lot of research and development work has been done, still needs more concerted efforts to be made in order to make the Spintronic devices that can offer good efficiency for maximizing their usefulness.

In this paper, we define Sumudu transform with convergence conditions in bicomplex space. Also, we derive some of its basic properties and its inverse. Applications of bicomplex Sumudu transform are illustrated to find the solution of differential equation of bicomplex-valued functions and find the solution for Cartesian transverse electric magnetic （TEM） waves in homogeneous space.

A study was conducted at PAU Regional Research Station, Gurdaspur (Punjab) to investigate the design and operational parameters of threshing mechanism of conventional combine harvester for basmati crop. This study was aimed to investigate the suitable changes required in the self-propelled conventional combine harvester for harvesting the basmati crop with minimum grain losses. Field evaluation of experiment was carried out to assess the influence of independent design variable i.e., arrangement of spikes (AS) and independent operational parameters such as concave clearance (CC) and cylinder speed (CS). The study was aimed to enumerate various combining losses viz., extent of visible and invisible grain damage and threshing efficiency at different AS, CC and CS levels. The first year data recorded during 2017 were processed for the optimization during 2018. The results of the present study revealed that during 2017, maximum visible and invisible losses was 5.49% ± 0.33% and 28.07% ± 3.21%, respectively whereas after modification, these losses remained only 4.00% ± 0.80% and 24.07% ± 2.86%, respectively. The threshing efficiency remained above 99.31% ± 0.47%, for both years. Thus, optimization of combine harvester was able to save the visible grain damage by 60% to 83% and invisible grain damage by 6% to 16%, respectively during 2018 than the year 2017.

Misoprostol has been used in obstetrics for a number of years in all trimesters of pregnancy. Apart from its side effect of causing congenital malformations in offsprings of users who have unsuccessfully used it as an abortifacient, it is considered a safe drug with few side effects. We here report a case of severe hypersensitivity reaction to misoprostol in a patient where it was used for first trimester abortion in a case of missed abortion.

Dynamic Image Prediction Using Principal Component and Multi-Channel Singular Spectral Analysis: A Feasibility Study

Respiratory motion induces the limit in delivery accuracy due to the lack of the consideration of the anatomy motion in the treatment planning. Therefore, image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) system plays an essential role in respiratory motion management and real-time tumor tracking in external beam radiation therapy. The objective of this research is the prediction of dynamic time-series images considering the motion and the deformation of the tumor and to compensate the delay that occurs between the motion of the tumor and the beam delivery. For this, we propose a prediction algorithm for dynamic time-series images. Prediction is performed using principal component analysis (PCA) and multi-channel singular spectral analysis (MSSA). Using PCA, the motion can be denoted as a vector function and it can be estimated by its principal component which is the linear combination of eigen vectors corresponding to the largest eigen values. Time-series set of 320-detector-row CT images from lung cancer patient and kilovolt (kV) fluoroscopic images from a moving phantom were used for the evaluation of the algorithm, and both image sets were successfully predicted by the proposed algorithm. The accuracy of prediction was quite high, more than 0.999 for CT images, whereas 0.995 for kV fluoroscopic images in cross-correlation coefficient value. This algorithm for image prediction makes it possible to predict the tumor images over the next breathing period with significant accuracy.

Software projects generally have to deal with producing and managing large and complex software products. As the functionality of computer operations become more essential and yet more critical, there is a great need for the development of modular software system. Component-Based Software Engineering concerned with composing, selecting and designing components to satisfy a set of requirements while minimizing cost and maximizing reliability of the software system. This paper discusses the fuzzy approach for component selection using “Build-or-Buy” strategy in designing a software structure. We introduce a framework that helps developers to decide whether to buy or build components. In case a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) component is selected then different versions are available for each alternative of a module and only one version will be selected. If a component is an in-house built component, then the alternative of a module is selected. Numerical illustrations are provided to demonstrate the model developed.

A Simulation Software for the Prediction of Thermal and Mechanical Properties of Wood Plastic Composites

Modelling and simulation has become an important tool in research and development. Simulation models are used to develop better understanding of the internal properties and impact of various parameters on the final quality of the product or process. Simulation model reduces the number of experiments and saves the wastage of material, time and money and are widely used in automobile industry, aircrafts manufacturing, process engineering, training for military, health care sector and many more. Wood Plastic Composite （WPC） is a bio-composite made by mixing wood fibers and plastic granules together at high temperature by compression molding or injection molding. A large quantity of WPC is rejected due to poor quality and low mechanical strength. There is a need to improve the understanding of the wood plastic composites, with both theoretical and experimental analysis. The impact of various parameters and processing conditions on the final product is not known to the industry people, due to less simulation models in this field. A new simulation software WPC Soft is developed to predict the mechanical and thermal properties of WPC. The software can predict the mechanical and thermal properties of WPC. The simulation results were validated with the experimental results and it was observed that the predicted values are quite close to the experimental values and with the further refining of the model, prediction can be further improved. The present simulation software can be easily used by the industry people and it requires very little knowledge of computers or modeling for its operation.

Critical Role of Protein Kinase C (PKC) in the Onset of Airway Hypersensitivity in Ova-Sensitized Guinea Pig Model of Asthma

Background and Objectives: Protein kinase C (PKC) activation plays an important role in activation of T-lymphocytes in asthma. Airway hypersensitivity is one of the main characteristic features of asthma, the mechanism of onset of which is not clearly understood. Therefore, the objective was to elucidate the role of PKC in etiopathogenesis of airway hypersensitivity in asthma. Methods: Male guinea pigs (n = 30) were sensitized with ovalbumin and day of initial allergen-specific immune response determined by intradermal test, airway hypersensitivity, BALF cytology and lung histopathology. Total PKC activity, PKC isoenzymes and phosphoinositides were assessed in airway smooth muscles (ASM) and peripheral blood lymphocytes. Results: Intradermal test revealed that day 9 was the earliest time of allergen-specific response and onset of airway hypersensitivity to ovalbumin. It was associated with significant increase in total and differential (lymphocytes and eosinophils) BALF counts and grade I peribronchiolar chronic lymphocytic inflammation in lung. On day 14, grade II infiltration of lymphocytes and eosinophils with onset ofstructural remodelingofproximal and distal airways was seen. Total PKC activity, expression of PKCα, PKCε and phosphoinositides increased significantly in ASM and lymphocytes on day 9 and were maximum on day 14. There was no change in PKC-τ expression. Conclusions: Activation of PKC, particularly PKCα and PKCε, mediated signal transduction pathway plays a critical role in lymphocyte infiltration and onset of airway hypersensitivity, airway remodeling and asthma pathophysiology. The present study is the first one on the mechanism of the etiopathogenesis of the disease, which shows a direct evidence of the role of PKC mediated pathway in the initiation and onset of airway hypersensitivity in ovalbumin sensitized guinea pig model.
