The mechanical,tribological and corrosion protection offered to Mg-9Li-7Al-1Sn and Mg-9Li-5Al-3Sn-1Zn alloys by the epoxy coating containing polyaniline/graphene(PANI/Gr)pigments is undertaken in the current work.PANI/Gr containing coatings were observed to be strongly adherent with a higher scratch hardness(Hs)and plowing hardness(Hp),i.e.Hsof 0.43 GPa,and Hpof 0.61 GPa,respectively when compared to that of neat epoxy coating(Hsof 0.17 GPa,and Hpof 0.40 GPa,respectively).Due to their higher Hsand Hpvalues,PANI/Gr based coatings displayed an enhanced wear resistance(Wear volume,Wv=4.53×10^-3 m^3)than that of neat epoxy coating(Wv=5.15×10^-3 m^3).The corrosion protection efficiency in corrosive environment of 3.5 wt%NaCl solution was obtained to be>99% for PANI/Gr containing coatings when compared to that of neat epoxy coating.The charge-transfer resistance(R(ct))of the PANI/Gr containing coatings were estimated to be>10^6 cm^2,which indicates their highly protective nature when compared to that of neat epoxy coating(R(ct)10^5 Ω cm^2).Hence,PANI/Gr containing coatings can be potentially used for wear resistance and corrosion protection applications in marine environments.

The present letter to the editor is related to the study with the title“Automatic detection of small bowel(SB)lesions with different bleeding risk based on deep learning models”.Capsule endoscopy(CE)is the main tool to assess SB diseases but it is a time-consuming procedure with a significant error rate.The development of artificial intelligence(AI)in CE could simplify physicians’tasks.The novel deep learning model by Zhang et al seems to be able to identify various SB lesions and their bleeding risk,and it could pave the way to next perspective studies to better enhance the diagnostic support of AI in the detection of different types of SB lesions in clinical practice.

This study addresses the link between social media use and pro-environmental civic participation considering the moderating effect of social media affordances (public realm) on one hand, and lifestyle behaviors and climate change experiences (personal realm) on the other. We combine communication theory and behavioral models and using a sample of USA individuals (N = 7225) based on the American Trends Panel to predict variations in pro-environmental behavior. We show that social networks rather than information are more effective in predicting pro-environmental behavior. Moreover, a pro-environmental lifestyle as well as climate change experiences at the community level increase the likelihood for pro-environmental participation. However, affordances related to socioeconomic variations generate variations to pro-environmental civic participation. We conclude that in order to capture the depth of pro-environmental civic participation, it is necessary to theoretically and empirically bridge between private and public expressions of pro-environmental awareness.

In this note we study subplanes of order q of the projective plane Π=PG( 2, q 3 ) and the ruled varieties V 2 5 of Σ=PG( 6,q ) using the spatial representation of Π in Σ, by fixing a hyperplane Σ ′ with a regular spread of planes. First are shown some configurations of the affine q-subplanes. Then to prove that a variety V 2 5 of Σ represents a non-affine subplane of order q of Π, after having shown basic incidence properties of it, such a variety V 2 5 is constructed by choosing appropriately the two directrix curves in two complementary subspaces of Σ. The result can be translated into further incidence properties of the affine points of V 2 5 . Then a maximal bundle of varieties V 2 5 having in common one directrix cubic curve is constructed.

This research aimed to quantify concentrations of ammonia（NH3）, carbon dioxide（CO2） and methane（CH4）, estimate emissions, and analyze the factors influencing them during warm periods in an open dairy barn equipped with two cooling systems in a Mediterranean climate zone. Gas distribution within the barn was observed to vary both vertically and horizontally, with the highest gas concentrations observed in the central area of the barn. NH3, CH4and CO2ranged in 1.7–7.4, 7–18, 560–724 μg·g–1, respectively. Natural ventilation through openings and the operation of cooling systems induced changes in indoor microclimate conditions, influencing cow behavior and,consequently, gas production. Gas concentrations were the highest at air velocities below 0.5 m·s–1. The highest concentration of NH3was observed when the temperature-humidity index（THI） was > 72 and ≤ 78; and CO2and CH4concentrations were the highest with THI ≥ 72 and decreased with THI ≤72. NH3concentrations when barn management included three daily milkings were higher than those measured when barn management was based on two daily milkings, and lower for CH4and CO2. NH3and CH4emissions were the highest during barn cleaning, while the lowest NH3emissions occurred during activity of the cows（i.e., feeding, walking）.

BACKGROUND In patients with metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC),the treatment options are limited and have been proved to be affected by rat sarcoma virus(RAS)mutational status.In RAS wild-type(wt)patients,the combination of antiepidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)monoclonal antibodies with chemotherapy(CT)is more effective than CT alone.On the other hand,RAS-mutated patients are not eligible for treatment with anti-EGFR antibodies.CASE SUMMARY Eleven patients with initially RAS-mutated mCRC were followed from diagnosis to May 2022.At the time of cell-free DNA determination,five patients had undergone one CT line,five patients had undergone two CT lines,and one patient had undergone three CT lines(all in combination with bevacizumab).At the second and third treatment lines[second line(2L),third line(3L)],patients with neo-RAS wt received a combination of CT and cetuximab.In neo-RAS wt patients treated with anti-EGFR,our findings indicated an increase in progression-free survival for both 2L and 3L(14.5 mo,P=0.119 and 3.9 mo,P=0.882,respectively).Regarding 2L overall survival,we registered a slight increase in neo-RAS wt patients treated with anti-EGFR(33.6 mo vs 32.4 mo,P=0.385).At data cut-off,two patients were still alive:A RAS-mutated patient undergoing 3L treatment and a neo-RAS wt patient who received 2L treatment with anti-EGFR(ongoing).CONCLUSION Our case series demonstrated that monitoring RAS mutations in mCRC by liquid biopsy may provide an additional treatment line for neo-RAS wt patients.

To contribute to the empirical literature on innovation in non-profit organizations,this study examines innovation in Private Social Solidarity Institutions with social responses for the elderly in Northern Portugal.It enriches the literature by clarifying the concept of innovation applied to non-profit organizations,which represents a perspective different from the business context.Moreover,it is important to support the innovation decisionmaking process in similar non-profit organizations.For this study,the population was surveyed through questionnaires based on the PUBLIN research project,which has already been applied in different countries,and the targets were employees of organizations with social responses for the elderly.Our sample is small,with 28 respondent institutions and 51 employees,but it is representative,as it includes institutions from all districts in Northern Portugal.The study employed a quantitative approach,particularly factor analysis,multiple linear regression,and correlation analyses,using scales already applied in other dimensions of the social sector,to understand the effect of each innovation dimension/determinant on creativity and innovation in nonprofit organizations.The results show that in these organizations with social responses for the elderly,learning orientation,risk-taking,and job satisfaction have a positive impact on innovation.

Proton exchange membrane(PEM)water electrolysis represents a promising technology for green hydrogen production,but its widespread deployment is greatly hindered by the indispensable usage of platinum group metal catalysts,especially iridium(Ir)based materials for the energy-demanding oxygen evolution reaction(OER).Herein,we report a new sequential precipitation approach to the synthesis of mixed Ir-nickel(Ni)oxy-hydroxide supported on antimony-doped tin oxide(ATO)nanoparticles(IrNiyO_(x)/ATO,20 wt.%(Ir+Ni),y=0,1,2,and 3),aiming to reduce the utilisation of scarce and precious Ir while maintaining its good acidic OER performance.When tested in strongly acidic electrolyte(0.1 M HClO_(4)),the optimised IrNi1Ox/ATO shows a mass activity of 1.0 mAµgIr^(−1) and a large turnover frequency of 123 s^(−1) at an overpotential of 350 mV,as well as a comparatively small Tafel slope of 50 mV dec^(−1),better than the IrOx/ATO control,particularly with a markedly reduced Ir loading of only 19.7µgIr cm^(−2).Importantly,IrNi1O_(x)/ATO also exhibits substantially better catalytic stability than other reference catalysts,able to continuously catalyse acidic OER at 10 mA cm^(−2) for 15 h without obvious degradation.Our in-situ synchrotron-based x-ray absorption spectroscopy confirmed that the Ir^(3+)/Ir^(4+)species are the active sites for the acidic OER.Furthermore,the performance of IrNi1Ox/ATO was also preliminarily evaluated in a membrane electrode assembly,which shows better activity and stability than other reference catalysts.The IrNi1Ox/ATO reported in this work is a promising alternative to commercial IrO_(2) based catalysts for PEM electrolysis.

In this paper， an image processing algorithm which is able to synthesize material textures of arbitrary shapes is proposed. The presented approach uses an arbitrary image to construct a structure layer of the material. The resulting structure layer is then used to constrain the material texture synthesis. The field of second-moment matrices is used to represent the structure layer. Many tests with various constraint images are conducted to ensure that the proposed approach accurately reproduces the visual aspects of the input material sample. The results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is able to accurately synthesize arbitrary-shaped material textures while respecting the local characteristics of the exemplar. This paves the way toward the synthesis of 3D material textures of arbitrary shapes from 2D material samples， which has a wide application range in virtual material design and materials characterization.

Tungsten is widely used as a material capable of withstanding extreme operating conditions and is one of the candidates for use in fusion and Generation Ⅳ fission reactors.Atomistic modelling implemented to solve various material science problems is an indispensable approach for improving material properties.This work analyzes the interaction of an edge dislocation with a void in single-crystal tungsten with the help of molecular dynamics simulation.Two different approaches for studying the dynamics of dislocations in tungsten that differ in boundary conditions are compared.Multiple interactions of the dislocation and void at different temperatures are investigated,and based on the obtained stress-strain curves,the dislocation obstacle strength for voids having various diameters is defined.It is shown that when applied to a crystal with small voids,the model with the fixed boundary conditions returns incorrect results.Moreover,the influence of the cell size for the model with periodic boundary conditions is analyzed,and the case of a non-central interaction of a dislocation with a void is considered.The obtained results improve our understanding of the mechanical response of irradiated materials.
