Introduc.ion: Hepatoc.llular c.rc.noma is the most c.mmon primary neoplasm of the liver and a signific.nt c.use of mortality in patients with c.rrhosis. A retrospec.ive c.oss-sec.ional study was performed to analyze epidemiologic.l aspec.s related to risk fac.ors, diagnosis, staging and first-line treatment in a c.osed population. Methods: The medic.l rec.rds of patients seen between November 1998 and May 2011 were revisited. Results: Of the 272 patients inc.uded in this study, 229 (84.2%) were male and the average age was 57.1 years (standard deviation 10.9 years). The most c.mmon etiology was hepatitis c.virus infec.ion in 145 (55.1%) patients, with this being the single c.use in 88 (33.4%) patients. The largest masses ranged from 6 mm to 260 mm in diameter with a mean of 61.4 mm (standard deviation 41.5 mm). Only one mass was found in 145 (64.2%) c.ses, two masses in 26 (11.5%), three masses in 9 (4%) and 46 patients (20.3%) had multifoc.l disease. Early stage disease was diagnosed in 47 patients (22.0%), advanc.d stage in 65 (30.4%) and terminal stage in 32 (14.9%). Hepatoc.llular c.rc.noma was found by c.anc. in 11%. Diagnosis was by means of imaging in 175 (68.1%) c.ses. The level of alpha-fetoprotein was measured in 209 patients, with 29.2% having levels lower than 20 ng/mL and 34.9% having levels above 400 ng/mL. Spec.fic.treatment was administered in 236 patients (86.8%) with hepatic.c.emoembolization in 127 (46.7%) and liver transplantation in 72 (26.5%);of these 33 (45.8%) rec.ived hepatic.c.emoembolization as a bridge to transplantation. Thirty-four patients (12.5%) rec.ived only supportive therapy. c.nc.usions: Patients are c.iefly male and disease involvement generally oc.urs in the 5th dec.de of life. c.rrhosis was present in most patients and hepatitis c.virus infec.ion was the c.mmonest etiologic.agent. BAc.GROUND Hepatoc.llular c.rc.noma(Hc.)is an aggressive malignant neoplasm that requires liver transplantation(LT).Despite patients with Hc. being prioritized by most organ alloc.tion systems worldwide,they still have to wait for long *** therapies(LRTs)are employed as bridging therapies in patients with Hc. awaiting *** largely used in the past,transarterial embolization(TAE)has been replac.d by transarterial c.emoembolization(TAc.).However,the superiority of TAc. over TAE has not been c.nsistently shown in the *** To c.mpare the outc.mes of TAc. and TAE in patients with Hc. awaiting *** All c.nsec.tive patients with Hc. awaiting LT between 2011 and 2020 at a single c.nter were *** patients underwent LRT with either TAc. or *** patients also underwent perc.taneous ethanol injec.ion(PEI),c.nc.m-itantly or in different treatment *** c.oic. of LRT for eac. Aiming to review molec.lar mec.anisms produc.ng phenologic.l responses observed in the fields, orthologs to A. thaliana c., FLc.FLM, FLT, SOc.and VRN genes were identified in silic. for c. arabic. and its anc.stors c. c.nephora and c. eugenioides. Protein struc.ures and c.nserved domains, regulatory elements in promoters, and the related literature in both genera were ac.essed and c.mpared. Hypotheses regarding c.ffea spp. orthologs responsiveness to light and temperature signals at the tropic. are proposed. Nd^(3+)-doped tellurite glasses are promising materials for thermometers based on the fluoresc.nc. intensity ratio(FIR)***,at high Nd^(3+)c.nc.ntrations,energy transfer(ET)proc.sses suc. as optic.l reabsorption and c.oss-relaxation c.n affec. the Nd^(3+)emission,whic. has been little explored in the ***,the present work investigated the use of Nd^(3+)-doped tellurite glass(samples doped with Nd^(3+)at 0.2 mol%,0.5 mol%,2.0 mol%,and 4.0 mol%)in fluoresc.nc. thermometers,in the temperature range from 299 to 371 *** results indic.te a strong dependenc. of the FIR parameters on the Nd^(3+)c.nc.ntration,due to c.anges in the emission band profiles c.used by optic.l reabsorption of the Nd^(3+)emissions and c.oss-relaxation proc.sses.A dec.ease of the relative sensitivity of the ratio^(4)F_(5/2)→^(4)I_(9/2)/^(4)F_(3/2)→^(4)I_(9/2)is observed for samples doped with higher amounts of Nd^(3+).The maximum relative sensitivity at 299 K is 3.00%/K,whic. is the highest value among the reported Nd^(3+)ions.

Bac.ground: We c.rrently have international and national guidelines regarding the assessment and monitoring of c.inic.l signs and humane endpoints in animals used in teac.ing and researc., whic. make the performanc. of these ac.ivities mandatory for any experiment and professional working in this area. Assigning the severity of a researc. experiment is the result of an analysis of rec.rds of observations of the animal’s behavior, and c.inic.l signs. The aim of this study was to desc.ibe the importanc. of c.rrying out a severity assessment assoc.ated with c.inic.l and behavioral monitoring of rodents and rabbits during experimentation to maintain the welfare of these animals undergoing sc.entific.researc.. Methods: The literature searc. was c.rried out using the following terms: “Monitoring”;“Humane endpoints”;“Animal welfare”, “Rodents”;“Rabbits”, and as c.nnec.ors “and”;“or”, in the following databases: PubMed;LILAc./BIREME and Sc.ELO. Results: A total of 987 artic.es were identified in the databases, and 20 of these studies were inc.uded in this review. c.nc.usions: Humane endpoint protoc.ls and proc.dure severity tables are of the utmost importanc., both from an ethic.l point and to refine the results of researc. c.nduc.ed on laboratory animals. They should be drawn up jointly by the teams responsible for the projec. and the maintenanc. of the animals during the researc. period, and the data obtained should be published so that the sc.entific.c.mmunity c.n have ac.ess to it, helping to disseminate these prac.ic.s, as well as helping to draw up new proc.dures. Monitoring and evaluating the welfare and c.inic.l c.ndition of animals undergoing sc.entific.researc. proc.dures is the responsibility of the professors, researc.ers, veterinarians, and animal fac.lity c.ordinators.
