Production of high titers of an alkaline, extracellular and thermo-tolerant pectinase by a newly isolated yeast Pseudozyma sp. SPJ was carried out under solid state fermentation. Citrus peel, the inexpensive agro-industrial residue used as substrate, was experienced to be unsurpassed. Response surface methodology was conducted to optimize the culture conditions for Pseudozyma sp. SPJ for hyper production of pectinase. Plackett Burman design was applied to identify the most effective culture variables. Out of nine variables studied, incubation time, moisture content and ammonium sulfate were detected as most important. A full factorial Central Composite Design was used to optimize the levels of these variables, which resulted in 17-fold increase （71.19 IU/g to 1215.66 IU/g dry substrate） in the enzyme yield. The results of analysis of variance and multiple regression analysis implies that the effect of incubation time （p 〈 0.000） and moisture content （p 〈 0.018） is more than ammonium sulfate. And also the interaction of moisture content with ammonium sulfate （p 〈 0.002） is more significant.

In this paper, current differencing buffered amplifier (CDBA) based bistable multivibrators are introduced. Each presented circuit is constructed using single CDBA as the basic active building block and three resistors. Two applications namely an astable and a monostable multivibrator are also realized to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed bistable multivibrators. The presented circuits are simulated using PSPICE from Cadence Orcad16.2 to verify their functionality. Simulation results agree well with the theoretical analysis.

Ozone (O3) is a stratospheric layer that plays important role in providing support to humans for their survival. It is an essential factor for many global, biological and environmental phenomena. The ultra-violet (UV) rays emitted from sun are captured by ozone and thereby provide a stable ontological structure in the biosphere. Various anthropogenic activities such as emissions of CFCs, HCFCs and other organo-halogens lead to the depletion of ozone. The ozone depletion resulted in secondary production of an ozone layer near the ground (terrestrial ozone layer), which is responsible for adverse effects on plants, humans and environment with increased number of bronchial diseases in humans. The mutations caused by UV rays result in variation in morphogenic traits of plants which ultimately decreases crop productivity. However, UV radiation is required in optimum intensity for both plants and animals. This review takes into an account the wide ranging effects of ozone depletion with a majority of them being detrimental to the plant system.

Liposomal Iron for Iron Deficiency Anemia in Women of Reproductive Age: Review of Current Evidence

Iron deficiency anemia is the most frequent nutritional deficiency disorder. Conventionally administered oral iron is associated with gastrointestinal intolerance that affects the outcomes and compliance. Liposomal iron is associated with increased absorption without causing significant adverse effects. In this review, we have discussed the technology of liposomal iron preparation, mechanisms of its absorption and clinical evidence on its utility in iron deficiency states in pregnant and non-pregnant women. Based on the available evidence, we compared liposomal iron to conventional oral iron. Encapsulation of micronized iron in liposomes is associated with lesser exposure to gastric contents, lesser interaction with food contents, no exposure to different digestive juices, targeted delivery of iron and allows lower doses to be administered in lieu of direct absorption without need for protein carriers. The available evidence suggests that liposomal iron significantly increases hemoglobin, ferritin levels in pregnant women as well as in women with iron deficiency.
