Performance characterization of Bi_2O_3/Al nanoenergetics blasted micro-forming system

This paper reports a novel micro-blast driven manufacturing process for micro-forming of Aluminum foils. The micro-blast is realized by using a nanoenergetic material system comprising of Bi_2O_3 microrods and aluminum particles. There is an enhanced need of forming of thin aluminum foil structures in small regions from point of view of drug packaging etc. The process developed caters to this need by using a single shot forming process using a micro-blast source. The micro-blast that is generated from an energetic composite system is made highly tunable by modulating the peak pressure generated through the blasting process and their impact in micro-forming of thin aluminum foils is observed through parametric studies. The engineering challenge involved in these experiments is to tune the blast pressure properties in order to address the forming of thin metal sheets with limiting boundary values as defined by the failure criteria. A variety of characterization techniques related to a thorough analysis of the synthesized material viz. X-ray diffraction(XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM) etc, are used to tune the functional properties like gauge blast pressure etc, of material system. We have found a material system that can generate a maximum peak pressure of 73.8 MPa with pressurization rate of 2460 GPas^(-1) and that is able to accomplish micro-forming on thin metal foils(around 0.3 mm thickness). Experimental investigations demonstrate that tunabilty aspect of the energetic composites when exercised can enable variant processes such as embossing, coining, drilling etc. which may be of significant utility to drug packaging industries. A proper mathematical modeling of the forming process and critical process parameters therein have also been detailed.

The design details and performance characterization results of a newly developed plasma focus based compact and portable system(0.5 m×0.5 m×1.2 m,weighing≈100 kg)that produces an average neutron yield of^2×10^8 neutrons/shot(of fast D-D neutrons with typical energy^2.45 Me V)at^1.8 k j energy discharge are *** the detailed analysis of the experimental characterization and simulation results of this system,it has been conclusively revealed that specifically in plasma focus devices with larger static inductance:(i)pinch current is a reliable and more valid neutron yield scaling parameter than peak current,(ii)the ratio of pinch/peak current improves as static inductance of the system reduces,(iii)the benign role of the higher static/pinch inductance ratio enables the supply of inductively stored energy in densely pinched plasma with a larger time constant and it is well depicted by the extended dip observed in the discharge current trace,(iv)there is the need to redefine existing index values of the pinch(Ipinch^4.7)and peak(Ipeak^3.9)currents in neutron yield scaling equations to higher values.

Water injection has shown to be one of the most successful,efficient,and cost-effective reservoir management *** re-injecting treated and filtered water into reservoirs,this approach can help maintain reservoir pressure,increase hydrocarbon output,and reduce the environmental *** goal of this project is to create a water injection model utilizing Eclipse reservoir simulation software to better understand water injection methods for reservoir pressure maintenance.A basic reservoir model is utilized in this *** simulation designs,the reservoir length,breadth,and thickness may be changed to different *** water-oil contact was discovered at 7000 feet,and the reservoir pressure was recorded at 3000 pounds per square inch at a depth of 6900 *** aquifer chosen was of the Fetkovich type and was linked to the reservoir in the j+*** porosity was estimated to be varied,ranging from 9%to 16%.The residual oil saturation was set to 25%and the irreducible water saturation was set at 20%.The vertical permeability was set at 50 md as a *** Volume Temperature(PVT)data was used to estimate the gas and water characteristics.

Background:To assess the influence of different spectral energy distribution on accommodation,vergence and reading ***:A Randomized experimental study was conducted after getting the approval of the Ethical Committee of University of *** participants with an age group of 18-21 years was integrated,out of which 50%was male and 50%was *** with emmetropia and no history of ocular pathology were included in the *** point of accommodation(NPA)&near point of convergence(NPC)was measured with the help of royal air force(RAF)ruler followed by near visual task of a readability ***:A statistically significant result was obtained when reading rate,reading speed and NPC was compared among different spectral distribution of light(P<0.001)except NPA(P=0.43).Post hoc analysis showed a significant difference(P<0.001)when tungsten was compared with fluorescent light(FLOU),compact fluorescent light(CFL),and light emitting diode(LED)for reading rate,reading speed and *** there is no noteworthy difference exist when fluorescent was compared with CFL for reading rate(P=0.530)&reading speed(P=0.595).Similarly,LED also showed no considerable difference when compared with CFL(P=0.682)and fluorescent(P=0.490)for *** NPA was assessed within the group LED showed insignificant difference with CFL(P=0.205)and fluorescent(P=0.275)similar like fluorescent and tungsten(P=0.482).Conclusions:This study concluded that reading performance(reading rate and reading speed)and NPC has a significance change if we use inappropriate lighting during visual *** will cause visual fatigue and strain after sustained near *** addition,tungsten spectral energy influences the convergence which can also show an impact on reading and near visual tasks because of its brightness and *** reading and working under this lighting can cause convergence disorders and visual fatigue.

The thermo-mechanical attributes of DMR-249 A steel weld joints manufactured by shielded metal arc welding(SMAW) and activated gas tungsten arc welding(A-GTAW) processes were studied using Finite Element Model(FEM) simulation. The thermal gradients and residual stresses were analyzed with SYSWELD software using double ellipsoidal heat source distribution model. The numerically estimated temperature distribution was validated with online temperature measurements using thermocouples. The predicted residual stresses profile across the weld joints was compared with the values experimentally measured using non-destructive techniques. The measured and predicted thermal cycles and residual stress profile was observed to be comparable. The residual stress developed in double sided A-GTAW joint were marginally higher in comparison to five pass SMAW joint due to phase transformation associated with high heat input per weld pass for A-GTAW process. The present investigations suggest the applicability of numerical modeling as an effective approach for predicting the thermo-mechanical properties influenced by welding techniques for DMR-249 A steel weld joints. The tensile, impact and micro-hardness tests were carried to compare the *** benefits of high productivity and savings of labor and cost associated with A-GTAW compared to SMAW process, the minor variation in residual stress build up of A-GTAW joint can be neglected to develop A-GTAW as qualified alternative welding technique for DMR-249 A steel.? 2016 China Ordnance Society. The mechanical environment is known to influence fracture healing. We speculated that connexin43 （Cx43） gap junctions, which impact skeletal homeostasis, fracture healing and the osteogenic response to mechanical load, may play a role in mediating the response of the healing bone to mechanical strain. Here, we used an established rat fracture model, which uses a 2 mm osteotomy gap stabilized by an external fixator, to examine the impact of various cyclical axial loading protocols （2%, 10%, and 30% strain） on osteotomy healing. We examined the presence of Cx43 in the osteotomy-healing environment and assessed how mechanical strain modulates Cx43 expression patterns in the callus. We demonstrated that increased cyclical axial strain results in increased radiographic and histologic bone formation. In addition, we show by immunohistochemistry that Cx43 is abundantly expressed in the healing callus, with the expression most robust in samples exposed to increased cyclical axial strain. These data are consistent with the concept that an increase in Cx43 expression by mechanical load may be part of the mechanisms by which mechanical forces enhances fracture healing.

We have introduced a polymer precursor into molten magnesium and then in-situ pyrolyzed to produce castings of metal matrix composites(P-MMCs)containing silicon-carbonitride(SiCNO)ceramic ***-rupture measurements of as-cast P-MMCs was performed at 350 ℃(0.69TM)to 450 ℃(0.78TM)under dead load condition corresponding to tensile stress of 2.5 MPa to 20 *** time-to-fracture data were analyzed using the classical Monkman–Grant *** time-to-fracture is thermally activated and follows a power-law stress exponent exhibiting dislocation *** analysis revealed that while pure magnesium appears to fracture by dislocation slip,the P-MMCs fail from the nucleation and growth of voids at the grain boundaries.

Non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)is often characterized by an underlying mutation in the epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR),contributing to aggressive metastatic *** 2-cyano-3,11-dioxo-18 beta-olean-1,12-dien-30-oate(CDODA-Me),a glycyrrhetinic acid derivative,reportedly improves the therapeutic response to erlotinib(ERL),an EGFR tyrosine kinase *** the present study,we performed a series of studies to demonstrate the efficacy of CDODA-Me(2μM)in sensitizing HCC827 R(ERL-resistant)cells to ***,we first established the selectivity of ERL-induced drug resistance in the HCC827 R cells,which was sensitized when ERL was combined with CDODA-Me(2μM),shifting the IC50 from 23.48μM to 5.46μ***,whole transcriptomic microarray expression data demonstrated that the combination of ERL+CDODA-Me elicited 210 downregulated genes(0.44%of the whole transcriptome(WT))and 174 upregulated genes(0.36%of the WT),of which approximately 80%were unique to the ERL+CDODA-Me *** effects centered on losses to cell cycle progression transcripts,a reduction of minichromosome maintenance complex components(MCM2-7),all key components of the Cdc45·MCM2-7 GINS(CMG)complex,and replicative helicases;these effects were tantamount to the upregulation of processes associated with the nuclear factor erythroid 2 like 2 translational response to oxidative stress,including sulfiredoxin 1,heme oxygenase 1,and stress-induced growth inhibitor ***,these findings indicate that the synergistic therapeutic effects of ERL+CDODA-Me on resistant NSCLC cells are mediated via the inhibition of mitosis and induction of oxidative stress.
