Data processing and climate characterisation to study its impact is becoming difficult due to insufficient and unavailable data,especially in developing *** climate’s impact on burnt areas in Ghana(Guinea-savannah(GSZ)and Forest-savannah Mosaic zones(FSZ))leads us to opt for machine *** Google Earth Engine(GEE),rainfall(PR),maximum temperature(Tmax),minimum temperature(Tmin),average temperature(Tmean),Palmer Drought Severity Index(PDSI),relative humidity(RH),wind speed(WS),soil moisture(SM),actual evapotranspiration(ETA)and reference evapotranspiration(ETR)have been acquired through CHIRPS(Climate Hazards group Infrared Precipitation with Stations),FLDAS dataset(Famine Early Warning Systems Network(FEWS NET)Land Data Assimilation System)and TerraClimate platform from 1991 to *** objective is to analyse the link and the contribution of climatic and environmental parameters on wildfire spread in GSZ and FSZ in *** were analysed(area burnt and the number of activefires)through Spearman correlation and the cross-correlation function(CCF)(2001 to 2021).The tests(Mann-Kendall and Sens’s slope trend test,Pettitt test and the Lee and Heghinian test)showed the overall decrease in rainfall and increase in temperature respectively(-0.1 mm;+0.8℃)in GSZ and(-0.9 mm;+0.3℃)in *** terms of impact,PR,ETR,FDI,Tmean,Tmax,Tmin,RH,ETA and SM contribute tofire *** the codes developed,researchers and decision-makers could update them at different times easily to monitor climate variability and its impact onfires.

Minimally Invasive Total Arterial Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting in Left Main Stem Disease

Objective: The aim was to show that Minimally Invasive total arterial revascularization for left main stem coronary artery disease, via a left anterior Mini thoracotomy using bilateral internal thoracic arteries is feasible, reproducible and safe. Further, there has been no exclusive data or experience with minimally invasive coronary artery bypass grafting in left main stem disease. Methods: From April 2019 to March 2024, 41 patients with left main stem stenosis, left main equivalent disease and unprotected left main with triple vessel disease underwent off pump minimally invasive multivessel coronary artery bypass grafting using either in situ pedicled Bilateral Internal Thoracic arteries or Left and Right Internal Thoracic artery Y composite conduits at three centers. Bilateral Internal Thoracic arteries were harvested under direct vision. All patients had an Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump inserted via the femoral artery prior to induction of anesthesia, to prevent any hemodynamic instability, arrhythmias, and was removed following completion of the procedure in the operating room without any complications. Efficacy and outcomes were evaluated by i) Primary (MACCE)-Major Adverse Cardiac and Cardiovascular events and ii) Secondary outcome measures including total length of stay, return to full physical activity and quality of life. Mean follow-up was 1.4 years (Maximum was 2.5 years). Results: 41 patients with left main stem coronary artery stenosis, underwent total arterial revascularization using bilateral internal thoracic arteries. Left main stem stenosis was present in 29 patients, Unprotected left main stem stenosis with triple vessel disease in 7 and left main equivalence in 5 patients. In this cohort, 29 patients with only left main stem stenosis had 2 grafts each, 7 patients with left main and triple vessel disease had 3 grafts and 5 patients with left main equivalent disease had 2 grafts respectively. Background:Diabetes and hypertension have been identified as risk factors for HCV complications in previous *** has sparked the interest in the field of prevention by identifying at-risk individuals and increasing investments for screening among *** aim of this study was to screen for risk factors,including age,gender,BMI,hypertension,diabetes,and obesity,in Egyptian patients with HCV Methods:A prospective cross-sectional study was carried out from September 2018 to February 2019,with a total of 1,959 medical records *** comparing the patients'characteristics,variables related to metabolic risk,and body composition measurements,regression models have been established to determine any confounding ***:The prevalence of HCV antibody was 41.0%in men and 59.0%in *** the variables included in the regression analysis,age,BMI,and uncontrolled hypertension were found to have statistically significant associations with diabetes in HCV positive cases(p40 years old with high BMI were found to have significant associations with both,diabetes and hypertension(p40,and DM(p<0.001).Conclusion:HCV infection and metabolic disorders have a closed cycle *** the complications of DM has a promising prospective of limiting the complications of HCV .

生物膜反应器(BR)是一种简单、高效、资源化的废水处理系统。选择合适的生物膜载体是污水处理工艺的关键。生化棉填料(BCF)常用于鱼类养殖废水过滤处理,将其作为新型生物膜填料尝试于生活污水处理工艺中,并和常用的移动床生物膜填料(MBBF)作比较。主要研究内容如下:BCF和MBBF分别独立构建了2个生物膜反应器,研究了两种生物膜填料反应器不同阶段对生活污水中的化学需氧量(COD)、氨氮(NH3-N)和总磷(TP)的去除率;比较两种生物填料反应器的性能和BCF和MBBF的耐久性评价;设计正交试验,研究了p H、DO和水力停留时间(HRT)等工艺参数对降解污染物的影响,确定最佳工艺参数;探讨生物膜反应器微生物群落结构特征及其与污染物降解关系。得出以下结论:(1)在DO(2-3 mg/L),p H(6.00-7.50)和温度(25.0-27.0℃)范围内进行培养、驯化和运行。在培养阶段,MBBR和BCR的平均COD去除率分别为67.51%和67.44%,而驯化阶段MBBR的平均COD去除率分别为81.11%和80.44%。在COD达到稳定的去除效果后,实验快速进入运行阶段。在此阶段,MBBR对COD、NH3-N和TP的平均去除率分别为84.99%、92.00%和60.75%,BCR对COD、NH3-N和TP的平均去除率分别为85.23%、94.36%和61.89%。(2)根据每个生物膜载体的物理特征描述,MBBF比BCF表现出更强的强度。通过对MBBF和BCF的整体实验结果的比较,发现BCF比MBBF具有较高的降解效率,表明BCF具有替代MBBF处理小规模生活污水的潜力。(3)通过正交试验结果表明,HRT对COD的降解影响较大,而DO对NH3-N和TP的降解影响较大;COD的最佳处理条件为HRT(10h)、DO(3～4 mg/L)和p H(8.5);而NH-N和TP的最佳处理条件为DO(3-4 mg/L),HRT(12h)和p H(8.5)。综合考虑下,DO(3～4)、HRT(12h)、p H(8.5)为最佳工艺条件。在最佳工作条件下,COD、NH-N和TP的降解效率分别为84.65%、92.99%和68.08%。(4)采用高通量测序技术评估微生物多样性和生物反应器不同阶段的群落结构之间的关系。在一定的DO(2-3 mg/L),p H(6.00-7.50)和温度(25.0-27.0℃)范围内,从培养到驯化阶段,各生物反应器的优势微生物均为Proteobacteria和Bacteroidetes,其中培养阶段MBBR3和BCR2的优势微生物分别增加了65%和28%。在不同实验工艺参数的运行阶段,变形菌门(Proteobacteria)和普朗霉菌门(Planctomycetes)在运行阶段BCR6和MBBR7中均处于相同的优势水平,分别为48%和7%,其中拟杆菌门菌(Bacteroidetes)在MBBR7中占15%的优势。与BCR相比,MBBR中Proteobacteria和Bacteroidetes的平均相对丰度较高,平均群体数分别为53.33%和20.66%。普朗托菌在BCR中的平均种群数量高于MBBR,平均种群数量为6.33%。微生物的种类和丰度在不同阶段不断变化,以便有效地处理目标污染物指标。结果表明,BCF比MBBF对污染物的降解效果较好,有望取代MBBF用于生活污水处理工艺中。本研究将为今后生活污水处理中BCF的设计和应用提供理论依据和技术指导。

Novel algorithms for accurate DNA base-calling

The ability to decipher the genetic code of different species would lead to significant future scientific achievements in important areas, including medicine and agriculture. The importance of DNA sequencing necessitated a need for efficient automation of identification of base sequences from traces generated by existing sequencing machines, a process referred to as DNA base-calling. In this paper, a pattern recognition technique was adopted to minimize the inaccuracy in DNA base-calling. Two new frameworks using Artificial Neural Networks and Polynomial Classifiers are proposed to model electropherogram traces belonging to Homo sapiens, Saccharomyces mikatae and Drosophila melanogaster. De-correlation, de-convolution and normalization were implemented as part of the pre-processing stage employed to minimize data imperfections attributed to the nature of the chemical reactions involved in DNA sequencing. Discriminative features that characterize each chromatogram trace were subsequently extracted and subjected to the chosen classifiers to categorize the events to their respective base classes. The models are trained such that they are not restricted to a specific species or to a specific chemical procedure of sequencing. The base- calling accuracy achieved is compared with the exist- ing standards, PHRED (Phil’s Read Editor) and ABI (Applied Biosystems, version2.1.1) KB base-callers in terms of deletion, insertion and substitution errors. Experimental evidence indicates that the proposed models achieve a higher base-calling accuracy when compared to PHRED and a comparable performance when compared to ABI. The results obtained demon- strate the potential of the proposed models for efficient and accurate DNA base-calling.

A Method of Moment Approach in Solving Boundary Value Problems

Several available methods, known in literatures, are available for solving nth order differential equations and their complexities differ based on the accuracy of the solution. A successful method, known to researcher in the area of computational electromagnetic and called the Method of Moment (MoM) is found to have its way in this domain and can be used in solving boundary value problems where differential equations are resulting. A simplified version of this method is adopted in this paper to address this problem, and two differential equations examples are considered to clarify the approach and present the simplicity of the method. As illustrated in this paper, this approach can be introduced along with other methods, and can be considered as an attractive way to solve differential equations and other boundary value problems.
