Peer pressure and academic stress among junior high school students:a cross-sectional study

Objective:The objective of the study was to explore the connection between peer pressure and academic stress among junior high school ***:This descriptive correlational study was conducted to investigate the link between perceived peer pressure and academic *** study involved a total of 525 adolescents,aged 14-19 years,drawn from 6 public junior high schools(PJHS)in Padang,Indonesia,using purposive *** stress and perceived peer pressure were assessed using the Educational Stress Scale for Adolescents(ESSA)and the Perceived Peer Pressure Scale(PPPS).Results:The findings indicated significant variations in stress levels among students in different grade levels(7th,8th,and 9th grades)(P0.05).Additionally,there was a positive correlation observed between perceived peer pressure and academic stress(r=0.14,P<0.05).Furthermore,multiple regression analyses,incorporating demographic variables and perceived peer pressure as independent factors,yielded statistically significant results(adjusted R^(2)=0.082,F=4.33,P<0.001).Notably,peer pressure had a direct impact on academic stress among adolescents,with class level and parents’educational background mediating the relationship between academic stress and adolescent behavioral ***:These findings underscore the importance of addressing both external and internal factors at the individual,family,school,and societal levels to enhance adolescents’psychological resilience and mitigate problem behaviors.

Gut microbiota-derived metabolites are novel targets for improving insulin resistance

The gut microbiota plays a key role in metabolic ***-microbiota-derived metabolites are found in different dietary sources,including:Carbohydrate(acetate,propionate,butyrate,also known as short-chain fatty acids,as well as succinate);protein(hydrogen sulfide,indole,and phenylacetic acid);and lipids(resveratrol-,ferulic acid-,linoleic acid-,catechin-and berry-derived metabolites).Insulin resistance,which is a global pandemic metabolic disease that progresses to type 2 diabetes mellitus,can be directly targeted by these ***-derived metabolites have broad effects locally and in distinct organs,in particular skeletal muscle,adipose tissue,and *** metabolites can modulate glucose metabolism,including the increase in glucose uptake and lipid oxidation in skeletal muscle,and decrease in lipogenesis and gluconeogenesis associated with lipid oxidation in the liver through activation of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase-serine/threonine-protein kinase B and AMP-activated protein *** adipose tissue,gut-microbiota-derived metabolites stimulate adipogenesis and thermogenesis,inhibit lipolysis,and attenuate ***,an increase in energy expenditure and fat oxidation occurs in the whole ***,the therapeutic potential of current pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches used to treat diabetes mellitus can be tested to target specific metabolites derived from intestinal bacteria,which may ultimately ameliorate the hyperglycemic burden.

Polaprezinc protects human colon cells from oxidative injury induced by hydrogen peroxide:Relevant to cytoprotective heat shock proteins

AIM： To investigate the effect of polaprezinc on cellular damage induced by hydrogen peroxide （H202） in human colon CaCo2 cells. METHODS： CaCo2 cells were treated with polaprezinc （10-100 pmol/L） for 6 h. After polaprezinc treatment, the cells were incubated with H202 （20μmol/L） for 1 h. Cell viability was measured by MTT assay. Western blot analysis for heat shock protein （HSP） 27 and HSP72 in the cells was performed. Moreover, cells were pretreated with quercetin （200 μmol/L）, an inhibitor of HSP synthesis, 2 h before polaprezinc treatment, and cell viability and the expression of HSP27 and 72 were assessed in these cells. RESULTS： Polaprezinc significantly protected CaCo2 cells from cell damage induced by H2O2, and up-regulated the expressions of HSP27 and HSP72 in the cells （10, 30 and 100 pmol/L of polaprezinc; 35.0% ± 7.7%, 58.3% ± 14.6% and 64.2% ± 8.2%, respectively. P 〈 0.01 versus polaprezinc-nontreated cells; 6.0% ± 4.4%）. Quercetin inhibited the up-regulation of HSP27 and HSP72 by polaprezinc and diminished the protective effect of polaprezinc against H2O2-caused injury in the cells. CONCLUSION： Polaprezinc is a useful therapeutic agent for treatment of colitis and its effects depend on the function of cytoprotective HSP in colon.

Regional rural transformation and its association with household income and poverty incidence in Indonesia in the last two decades

Increasing rural household income and reducing poverty rank among Indonesia’s top development *** rural transformation is one strategic policy framework to achieve these *** the last three decades,agricultural production has shifted from low-value food crops to high-value commodities,such as horticulture,estate crops,and *** studies have analyzed rural transformation in Indonesia at the national level,but information on the magnitudes of impact across regions remains *** study aims to analyze the changes in rural transformation at a regional level in the past two *** research utilizes secondary data from Statistics Indonesia(BPS),covering 34 provinces from 2000 to 2020,analyzed using descriptive and panel data regression *** results show an increasing trend in the share of high-value agriculture(RT_(1))and rural non-farm employment(RT_(2)).Both RT_(1)and RT_(2)are positively associated with the growth of rural household income and a lower poverty ***,the speed of structural transformation(ST),RT_(1),RT_(2),rural income growth,and poverty reduction vary across *** research implies that improving rural income and reducing poverty should be done by integrating policies,i.e.,promoting highvalue agriculture and expanding rural non-farm *** attention should also be given to provinces with slow growth in ST,RT_(1),RT_(2),and rural household income.

Bacillus sp. SAB E-41-derived extract shows antiaging properties via ctt1-mediated oxidative stress tolerance response in yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe

Objective: To analyze potential activation of oxidative stress tolerance systems by SAB E-41 bacterial extract in promoting the life span of yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe. Methods: In vitro analysis was done to assess antioxidant activity of SAB E-41 bacterial extract. Antiaging property of the particular extract was then assayed through spot test and chronological life span assays. Furthermore, sty1 mitogen-activated protein kinase, pap1 transcriptional factor of oxidative stress response and its downstream genes, ctt1 were evaluated via real time PCR. The protein level of ctt1 was then observed via Western Blot analysis. In addition, accumulation of reactive oxygen species and mitochondrial activity were conducted to understand the effect of SAB E-41 upon oxidative stress response systems in vivo. Results: The IC50 values of corresponding extract for antioxidant(DPPH; ABTS) and antiglycation were 402.40, 358.13 and 683.55 μg/mL, respectively. In addition, SAB E-41 extract(750 μg/mL) exhibited antiaging properties, which could be attributed to significant up-regulation of oxidative stress response genes, sty1, pap1 and ctt1. Interestingly, SAB E-41 extract could enhance stress tolerance phenotype of Schizosaccharomyces pombe against H2 O2-induced oxidative stress. These results were supported by increasing mitochondrial activity and reactive oxygen species intracellular levels. Conclusions: SAB E-41 extract could promote yeast life span likely via up-regulation of oxidative stress responses in yeast. Our results suggest that adaptive response via up-regulation of oxidative stress transcriptional factors, and its downstream gene, ctt1, as well as mitochondrial activity contributes in combating oxidative stress thus promoting yeast life span.

The success of sexual plant reproduction is directly influenced by specific interactions between the pollen and ***,fluorescence and scanning electron microscopy techniques were used to evaluate the steps of pollination in sour passion fruit plants(Passiflora edulis Sims).In the compatible interaction,pollen tubes grow through stigma projections towards the *** pollen grain surface was found to be spheroidal and to consist of heteroreticulate exine with six ***,analysis in vivo of pollenpistil interactions indicated that stigmas of flowers 24 hours before anthesis are unable to discriminate compatible(genetically unrelated)and incompatible(genetically related)pollen *** together,these results provide insight into the cellular mechanisms underlying pollination in passion fruit plants.

Oxytocin Massage Can Expedite the Time of Colostrum Discharge in the Post Section Caesarian

The production of breast milk is physiologically influenced by prolactin hormone and breast milk is influenced by oxytocin hormone. Oxytocin massage can increase the oxytocin hormone. The increase in the oxytocin hormone can expedite the time of colostrum. The use of drugs in the post section cesarean (SC) will inhibit the formation of breast milk production. Oxytocin massage is one of the efforts to expedite the release of colostrum. Purpose: To analyze the implementation of oxytocin massage in accelerating the release of colostrum in post-SC and the effect of oxytocin massage, breast care and the frequency of breastfeeding simultaneously to accelerate the release of colostrum. Method: The design used quasi-experiment. The population were post-SC with a sample of 60 people (30 post-SC were treated with oxytocin massage and 30 post-SC were not treated). Both groups were interviewed and observed in breast care, the frequency of breastfeeding and the time of first colostrum discharge. Result: Analysis used independent T-test and double linear regression test with α = 0.05. The results showed significantly that expedite time of colostrum in the post SC group with oxytocin massage occurred 23.04 hours faster than the controlled group who were not treated with oxytocin massage and post SC who were given oxytocin massage accompanied by breastfeeding their babies as often as possible to be faster 2.6 hours when the colostrum was released with α value < 0.05. Conclusion: Massage oxytocin speeds up the release of colostrum in the post SC.

Construction and expression of a synthetic gene encoding nonstructural glycoprotein NS1 of dengue 2 virus in Pichia pastoris

To express and characterize NS1 of Indonesian-specific DENV2 virus in Pichia pastoris (P. pastoris).MethodsA codon optimized synthetic gene derived from the DENV-2 NS1 amino acid sequences was synthesized commercially and inserted into the P. pastoris pPICZαA expression vector. The recombinant DENV-2 NS1 protein was purified by Ni-NTA affinity chromatography, and its antigenicity was *** recombinant DENV-2 NS1 protein was secreted as a protein with a molecular weight of ∼45 kDa, and the optimal expression condition was achieved by induction with 2% (v/v) methanol for 72 h. The purified recombinant DENV-2 NS1 protein was able to interact with a monoclonal antibody of NS1 in a commercial rapid *** resulting recombinant DENV-2 NS1 protein produced in P. pastoris KM71 is a potential candidate for use in the development of a dengue diagnostic kit and vaccine.
