Stroke is a leading disease for morbidity and the second leading cause of mortality following ischemic heart disease. The health burden for stroke ranks the fourth of all diseases as measured in disability-adjusted life years[1]. Worldwide annual new stroke incidence is approximately 16 million with the increasing trend of an epidemic due to the aging population [2].

In this study,a two-step method was used to synthesize highly luminescent AgGaS/ZnS/ZnS quantum dots(QDs).In the first step,an inner ZnS shell was formed via a one-pot method,which resulted in a smaller lattice mismatch between the AgGaS core and the outer ZnS shell,thereby facilitating the formation of a thick outer *** the two-step shelling process,the synthesized AgGaS/ZnS/ZnS QDs showed an excellent photoluminescence quantum yield(PLQy)of 96.4%with a peak wavelength of 508 nm,repre-senting the highest PLQy reported thus far for AgGaS ***,the effect of halogen ions in Zn precursors on the shelling process was *** was proposed that the capacity of halogen ions to coordinate with the QDs influenced the balance between Zn cation diffusion and ZnS shelling ***,the ZnS shelling reaction was dominant when ZnCl_(2)was employed,while Zn cation diffusion was the dominant process under the I^(−)-rich *** work provides insights into the interfacial restructuring during the ZnS shelling and offers a clear map for the tailored synthesis of core/shell QDs.

We have studied the optical spectra of low-dimensional semiconductor systems by calculating all possible optical transitions between electronic states. Optical absorption and emission have been obtained under different carrier population conditions and in different photon wavelengths. The line-shapes of the peaks in the optical spectrum are determined by the density of electronic states of the system, and the symmetries and intensities of these peaks can be improved by reducing the dimensionality of the system. Optical gain requires in general a population inversion, whereas for a quantum-dot system, there exists a threshold value of the population inversion.

The high temperature phase a-Ba3y(BO3)3 was synthesized by Czochralski method, and its crystal structure has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in the trigonal system, space group 3R with a = 13.028(2), c = 9.4992(2) ? V = 1396.1(5) ?, Ba3yB3O9, Mr = 677.36, Z = 6, Dc = 4.834 g/cm3, l(Moka) = 0.71073 ? m = 18.721 mm-1, F(000) = 1764, the final R = 0.0718 and wR = 0.1640 for 1199 observed reflections with I > 2s(I). In this structure two alternate nonequivalent y atoms form one-dimensional chains bridged by the Ba atoms with BO3 triangles which link y(1) and y(2), respectively. The Ba atom is surrounded by nine O atoms belonging to six BO3 triangles.

A very recent study by Zhang et *** in Nature demonstrates that gasdermin E(GSDME,also known as DFNA5)is a tumour suppressor by activating caspaseindependent pyroptosis to enhance anti-tumour immunity.1 In the meantime,a study by Wang et *** in Nature also demonstrates the anti-tumour effect caused by gasdermin A3(GSDMA3)to induce pyroptosis requires both cytotoxic T cells and CD4+T helper cells.2 The authors intriguingly showed that pyroptosis-induced inflammation triggers robust anti-tumour immunity,thus gasdermin is a promising novel therapeutic target for tumour treatment(Fig.1).

Correlation and Prediction of Salt Effect on Vapor Liquid Equilibrium for the System of 2-Propanol/Water

Binary vapor liquid equilibrium （VLE） data were measured for the systems of 2-propanol/ ethanediol and ethanediol/potassium acetate （kAc）. VLE data for the system of propanol/ethanediol was tested using thermodynamic consistency test. The average values of Ayj and A P were 0.0776 and 0.1542 kPa, respectively. The above two sets of VLE data were correlated with the NRTL model. Ternary VLE data for the system of 2-propanol/water/kAc was used to obtain the more suitable parameters of NRTL model for binary systems of 2-propanol/kAc and water/kAc （called TDCM）. For multicomponent systems, ternary and quaternary, the VLE values predicted by the NRTL model agreed well with the literature data. Influence of kAc, ethanediol, and the mixture of kAc and ethanediol on volatility between 2- propanol and water was investigated respectively. The results showed that the above-mentioned materials and mixture had different influence on volatility between 2-propanol and water. The method for correlation and prediction of salt-containing VLE is simple and effective for the said system.

Jointly Recommending Library Books and Predicting Academic Performance： A Mutual Reinforcement Perspective

The prediction of academic performance is one of the most important tasks in educational data mining, and has been widely studied in massive open online courses （MOOCs） and intelligent tutoring systems. Academic performance can be affected by factors like personality, skills, social environment, and the use of library books. However, it is still less investigated about how the use of library books can affect the academic performance of college students and even leverage book-loan history for predicting academic performance. To this end, we propose a supervised content-aware matrix factorization for mutual reinforcement of academic performance prediction and library book recommendation. This model not only addresses the sparsity challenge by explainable dimension reduction techniques, but also quantifies the importance of library books in predicting academic performance. Finally, we evaluate the proposed model on three consecutive years of book-loan history and cumulative grade point average of 13 047 undergraduate students in one university. The results show that the proposed model outperforms the competing baselines on both tasks, and that academic performance not only is predictable from the book-loan history but also improves the recommendation of library books for students.

In this paper, a constitutive model is proposed for piezoelectric material solids containing distributed cracks. The model is formulated in a framework of continuum damage mechanics using second rank tensors as internal variables. The Helrnhotlz free energy of piezoelectric mate- rials with damage is then expressed as a polynomial including the transformed strains, the electric field vector and the tensorial damage variables by using the integrity bases restricted by the initial orthotropic symmetry of the material. By using the Talreja＇s tensor valued internal state damage variables as well as the Helrnhotlz free energy of the piezoelectric material, the constitutive relations of piezoelectric materials with damage are derived. The model is applied to a special case of piezoelectric plate with transverse matrix cracks. With the kirchhoff hypothesis of plate, the free vibration equations of the piezoelectric rectangular plate considering damage is established. By using Galerkin method, the equations are solved. Numerical results show the effect of the damage on the free vibration of the piezoelectric plate under the close-circuit condition, and the present results are compared with those of the three-dimensional theory.
