Prevalence of Bacillus *** the biofilm forming community on Ti surface in marine environment

Prevalence of bacterial species involved in biomineralization of manganese on titanium （Ti） surfaces in marine environment was revealed in this research work. This study involves one year sea water exposure of Ti and their periodical biofilm characterization was carried out to quantify the manganese oxidizing bacterial （MOB） presence in the biofilm formed on titanium surfaces. The total viable count study of Ti coupons exposed to sea water for one year resulted in 60% of the MOB in overall biofilm population. The biochemical characterization of MOB isolates were performed for the genus level identifcation of the seven bacterial isolates. Further, the seven strains were subjected to 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Evolutionary analysis was performed using MEGA 7 to obtain closely related strains within the groups. The manganese oxidizing ability of the bacterial isolates were determined with Leucoberbelin Blue Assay （LBB） and Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy studies （hAS）. The results show that among the isolated marine MOB species, Bacillus sp. and Leptothrix sp. have the maximum Mn oxidizing property. The microtitre plate assay was performed to determine the biofilm forming ability of the isolated marine MOB species. All the results have confirmed the prevalence of Bacillus sp. among the biofilm colonizers on Ti surfaces when exposed in sea water.

Group size variations of the Arabian sand gazelle Gazella subgutturosa marica were studied during a period of drought at the Mahazat as-Sayd Protected Area in central western Saudi Arabia. Significant differences in median group sizes were observed between all seasons except summer. Single animals were observed mainly during summer while group sizes ex- ceeding 10 individuals were observed mainly during winter. Solitary male and female groups were typically observed during winter and mixed groups mainly during the autumn rutting period. Most mixed groups were two to four times larger during winter than summer. The adult sex ratio （male： female） for all seasons combined was in parity and highest during autumn （1：1.23）, probably as a result of prolonged drought conditions. The variability in group structure related to environmental conditions may be one factor permitting G. s. marica to adapt to hyper-arid habitats and climatic regimes in central western Saudi Arabia. The value of continuous monitoring of the gazelle population is emphasised for this drought prone region

Purpose. To investigate the peak latency of the orbital presaccadic spike potential (SP) with horizontal eye movement in ***. Orbital SP was recorded in 28 normal subjects from 8 electrodes around the eyes with Pz as the reference while performing 5°, 10°, 20°, 30° and 40°horizontal saccades to visual targets. SP peak latency was measured from SP onset to SP peak on averaged data aligned on SP ***. Significant main effects on SP peak latency are found for saccade size (0. 05). SP peak latency increases with increasing saccade size from 5°to 40°. SP peak latency is longer with saccades back to center than away from center, and with abducting saccades than with adducting saccades. SP peak latency differs at the electrode sites with an order from shorter to longer as follows: inner canthus (IC); inferior orbit (IO): outer canthus (OC); superior orbit (SO).Conclusicos. The effects on the peak latency of orbital SP can be explained by the saccade dynamic property, volume conduction as well as physiologic and anatomic factors of the eyes and orbits. The peak latency of orbital SP can be used to reflect the temporal characteristics of ocular motor units controlling saccadic eye movement.

Controversies surround the usefulness of identifying patients with the metabolic syndrome （MetS）. Many of the components are accepted risk factors for cardiovascular disease （CVD）. Although the MetS as defined includes many men with insulin resistance, insulin resistance is not universal. The low total testosterone （TT） and sex hormone binding globulin （SHBG） levels in these men are best explained by the hyperinsulinism and increased inflammatory cytokines that accompany obesity and increased waist circumference. It is informative that low SHBG levels predict future development of the MetS. Evidence is strong relating low TT levels to CVD in men with and without the MetS; however, the relationship may not be causal. The recommendations of the International Diabetes Federation for managing the MetS include cardiovascular risk assessment, lifestyle changes in diet, exercise, weight reduction and treatment of individual components of the MetS. Unfortunately, it is uncommon to see patients with the MetS lose and maintain a 10% weight loss. Recent reports showing testosterone treatment induced dramatic changes in weight, waist circumference, insulin sensitivity, hemoglobin Alc levels and improvements in each of the components of the MetS are intriguing. While some observational studies have reported that testosterone replacement therapy increases cardiovascular events, the Food and Drug Administration in the United States has reviewed these reports and found them to be seriously flawed. Large, randomized, placebo-controlled trials are needed to provide more definitive data regarding the efficacy and safety of this treatment in middle and older men with the MetS and low TT levels.

Purpose:The study was to examine county-level associations of physical activity with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)cases and deaths,per 100,000 county ***:Data were collected from publicly available data sources for 3142 counties and equivalents,including the District of *** health ratings,percentage uninsured,percentage unemployed,median household income,percentage female residents,percentage White residents,percentage of residents 65 years of age or older,and rural designation served as ***:The two-level random intercept regression showed that physical activity rates at the county level were statistically and negatively associated with COVID-19 cases and *** analyses showed that physical activity rates moderated the relationship between cases and deaths,such that the relationship was strongest when physical activity rates were ***:The results presented here offer empirical evidence of the benefits of county-level physical activity during a *** for public health and physical activity provision are discussed.

Oesophageal junctional adenocarcinoma is a challeng-ing and increasingly common disease. Optimisation ofpre-operative staging and consolidation of surgery inlarge volume centres have improved outcomes, howev-er the preferred adjunctive treatment approach remainsa matter of debate. This review examines the benefitsof neoadjuvant, peri-operative, and post-operative che-motherapy and chemoradiotherapy in this setting in anattempt to reach an evidence based conclusion. Recentfindings relating to the molecular characterisation ofoesophagogastric cancer and their impact on therapeu-tics are explored, in addition to the potential benefitsof fluoro-deoxyglucose positron emission tomography(FDG-PET) directed therapy. Finally, efforts to decreasethe incidence of junctional adenocarcinoma using earlyintervention in Barrett's oesophagus are discussed,including the roles of screening, endoscopic mucosalresection, ablative therapies and chemoprevention.
