Norma. Complex. Performa.ces of these two cha.nels a. they pa.s through different subsurfa.e ma.eria.s identify severa. importa.t seismic a.pects a.d the critica. role of geotechnica. ea.thqua.e engineering in a.sessing cha.nel beha.iors. Prelimina.y eva.ua.ions using deta.led ma.ping of cha.nel cra.ks, perma.ent ground movements, subsurfa.e profiles, a.d nea.by strong ground motion recordings from the 1994 ea.thqua.e show tha. the cha.nel liners ma. ha.e been da.a.ed from both tra.sient motions a.d perma.ent ground movements. Da.a.e from perma.ent ground deforma.ions is obvious by observa.ion; therefore simplified a.a.yses a.e presented only for tra.sient movements. Site specific tra.sient response a.a.yses a.e performed to provide a. initia. a.sessment of the differing effects from tra.sient a.d perma.ent ground movements on HSC a.d BC liner da.a.e. These ca.e studies a.e helpful for introducing the potentia. for lifeline da.a.e from tra.sient movements within zones of perma.ent ground movement, a.concept not well understood in the ea.thqua.e engineering community

We report a.ra.e ca.e of a.socia.ion of tempora. a.teritis with recurrent centra. cornea. ulcer. a.91-yea.-old ma.e with a.remote history of clinica.ly dia.nosed gia.t cell a.teritis (GCa. a.d penetra.ing kera.opla.ty (PK) for cornea. edema.in 1990’s in the left eye presented with irrita.ion a.d severe dry eye. He progressively developed centra. cornea. ulcer rega.dless of trea.ment with a.gressive lubrica.ion a.d pa.ching. The clinica. course, blood tests a.d tempora. a.tery biopsy results yielded the dia.nosis of recurrent GCa. The clinica. course improved a.ter sta.ting ora. steroids. The ca.e report illustra.es the importa.ce of ruling out GCa.in pa.ients with recurrent cornea. ulcers a.d history of GCa. It a.so highlights the significa.ce of sha.ed understa.ding between prima.y ca.e physicia.s a.d specia.ists to ha.dle common a.d chronic disea.es to ma.e efficient dia.noses a.d pla. trea.ment regimens. This is the first pla.sible ca.e of reported GCa.a.socia.ion with centra. cornea. ulcer in the United Sta.es.

Introduction Intra.erebra. ha.morrha.e(ICH)within deep structures a.ja.ent to the third ventricle is a.socia.ed with worse outcomes when compa.ed with loba. ICH due to the critica. role of deep nuclei in norma. neurologica. *** evidence suggests a.other contributing fa.tor to poor outcome is obstruction of cerebrospina. fluid outflow by clot burden ca.sing mecha.ica. compression of the third *** a.thors reviewed the incidence a.d outcomes of mecha.ica. compression ICH in order to identify this high-risk group which ma. potentia.ly benefit from minima.ly inva.ive *** Pa.ients with sponta.eous,non-tra.ma.ic,supra.entoria. ICH were identified retrospectively over a.30-month *** ima.ing wa. reviewed to a.sess loca.ion of the ICH,volume of the ICH,presence of hydrocepha.us requiring externa. ventricula. dra.n(EVD)pla.ement,a.d time to clea.ing of the third *** wa. then ca.egorised a. due to‘prima.ily intra.entricula. ha.morrha.e(IVH)’,‘prima.ily mecha.ica. compression’or‘mixed’.Functiona. outcomes a. discha.ge were a.sessed using the modified Ra.kin Score(mRS).Results 287 pa.ients met inclusion criteria.of which 39(13.5%)pa.ients developed hydrocepha.us tha. required *** pa.ients ha. significa.tly higher mRS a. discha.ge(p≤0.001)when compa.ed with the non-EVD *** loca.ion wa. a.socia.ed with lower odds of poor outcome compa.ed with tha.a.ic loca.ion(OR 0.107-0.560).Mecha.ica. compression hydrocepha.us wa. a.socia.ed with poor outcome when compa.ed with the prima.y IVH hydrocepha.us subgroup(p=0.037)a. well a. longer time to clea.ing of the third ventricle(p=0.006).Conclusions Mecha.ica. obstruction requiring EVD occurs in a.proxima.ely(21/287)7.3%of a.l pa.ients with sponta.eous supra.entoria. *** is unknown if the worse morbidity in these subjects is purely rela.ed to da.a.e to deep structures surrounding the third ventricle or if seconda.y da.a.e from hydrocepha.us could be mitiga.ed with ta.
