New patterns of the tree beta diversity and its determinants in the largest savanna and wetland biomes of South America

Clear and data-driven bioregionalizations can provide a framework to test hypotheses and base biodiversity *** we used occurrence and abundance data in combination with objective analytical methods to propose two bioregionalization schemes for tree species of the Cerrado and the Pantanal in South *** also evaluated the contribution of three sets of determinants of the occurrence-and abundance-based *** compiled data on tree species composition from 894 local assemblages based on species occurrences,and from 658 local assemblages based on species *** used an unconstrained community-level modelling approach and clustering techniques to identify and map tree subregions for the occurrence and the abundance data sets,*** clustering analyses were conducted to investigate floristic affinities between the subregions and to map broader floristic *** used multinomial logistic regression models,deviance partitioning,and rank-sum tests to assess the main subregion *** identified 18 occurrence-and four abundance-based subregions in the *** hierarchical classifications grouped the occurrence-based subregions into nine floristic zones and abundance-based subregions into two broad floristic *** in subregions were explained mainly by environmental factors and spatial structure in both occurrence and abundance data *** occurrence-and abundance-based subregions are complementary approaches to disentangle macroecological patterns and to plan conservation efforts in the Cerrado and the *** findings based on occurrence data revealed more complex and interdigitated boundaries between subregions of tree species than previously *** environment,historical stability,and human effects act in a synergetic way on the distribution of the ***,the relevance of contemporary environmental factors to the subregion patterns we found alert us to the profound im

Constrained fractional Variational Problems of Variable Order

Isoperimetric problems consist in minimizing or maximizing a cost functional subject to an integral *** this work, we present two fractional isoperimetric problems where the Lagrangian depends on a combined Caputo derivative of variable fractional order and we present a new variational problem subject to a holonomic constraint. We establish necessary optimality conditions in order to determine the minimizers of the fractional problems. The terminal point in the cost integral,as well as the terminal state, are considered to be free, and we obtain corresponding natural boundary conditions.

In addition to squamous cell carcinoma,the incidence of Barrett's esophagus with high-grade dysplasia and esophageal adenocarcinoma is rapidly increasing ***,the current standard of care for esophageal pathology involves resection of the affected tissue,sometimes involving radical *** exception,these procedures are associated with a high morbidity,compromised quality of life,and unacceptable mortality *** medicine approaches to functional tissue replacement include the use of biological and synthetic scaffolds to promote tissue remodeling and *** the case of esophageal repair,extracellular matrix(ECM) scaffolds have proven to be effective for the reconstruction of small patch defects,anastomosis reinforcement,and the prevention of stricture formation after endomucosal resection(EMR).More so,esophageal cancer patients treated with ECM scaffolds have shown complete restoration of a normal,functional,and disease-free epithelium after *** studies provide evidence that a regenerative medicine approach may enable aggressive resection of neoplastic tissue without the need for radical esophagectomy and its associated complications.

On the Marchenko System and the Long-time Behavior of Multi-soliton Solutions of the One-dimensional Gross-Pitaevskii Equation

We establish a rigorous well-posedness results for the Marchenko system associated to the scattering theory of the one dimensional Gross-Pitaevskii equation （GP）. Under some assumptions on the scattering data, these well-posedness results provide regular solutions for （GP）. We also construct particular solutions, called N- soliton solutions as an approximate superposition of traveling waves. A study for the asymptotic behaviors of such solutions when t-→±∞ is also made.

Effects of meal size and proximal-distal segmentation on gastric activity

AIM:To evaluate the effects of meal size and three segmentations on intragastric distribution of the meal and gastric motility,by ***:Twelve healthy volunteers were randomly assessed,twice,by *** test meal consisted of 60 or 180 mL of yogurt labeled with 64 MBq 99m Tc-tin *** and posterior dynamic frames were simultaneously acquired for 18 min and all data were analyzed in *** proximal-distal segmentations using regions of interest were adopted for both ***:Intragastric distribution of the meal between the proximal and distal compartments was strongly influenced by the way in which the stomach was divided,showing greater proximal retention after the 180 *** important finding was that both dominant frequencies (1 and 3 cpm) were simultaneously recorded in the proximal and distal stomach;however,the power ratio of those dominant frequencies varied in agreement with the segmentation adopted and was independent of the meal ***:It was possible to simultaneously evaluate the static intragastric distribution and phasic contractility from the same recording using our scintigraphic approach.

Hepatic abscesses are an uncommon extra-intestinal manifestation of inflammatory bowel disease,the incidence of which has been estimated to be approximately 7 per 10,000 patients with inflammatory bowel *** is unclear whether patients with Crohn's disease or patients with ulcerative colitis(UC)are at higher risk of developing this *** on case reports,most cases are found in Crohn's disease;however,a recent cohort study showed an increased risk in UC *** abscesses in the pediatric population are rare,and there have been no reported cases of hepatic abscesses in a pediatric patient with *** describe herein a pediatric patient with UC who developed hepatic abscesses and portal vein *** patient also had an extended time in remission from his UC despite being off of immunosuppressive therapies,and we speculate on how his clinical course and treatment strategies may have contributed to this.

Oil spills and oil/water wastewater are among the great concerns regarding oil *** technologies face many limitations and in some cases are responsible for causing secondary pollution,therefore there is as seek for environmental friendly ***,from which celluloses are highlighted,are being employed for oil/water separation or oil absorbents ***,these membranes are obtained by freeze drying of CNf(cellulose nano-fibrils)suspensions followed by chemical modification for hydrophobization,which involves expensive process as chemical vapor deposition and expensive reactants as sylanes,turning these processes hardly ***,we produced a natural porous structure paper from eucalyptus pulp fibers modified by a dipping and heating process in a blocked diisocyanate *** the surface treatment,contact angle with water reached 144°and water absorption reduced seven times,keeping the good oil *** chemical modification process is simple to be performed and use a very low quantity of reactant estimated to be less than 0.1 wt%based on *** good mechanical properties of the material allows its use in non usual conditions which can be of great importance depending on the environmental conditions.

Development and validation of SuperDEM for non-spherical particulate systems using a superquadric particle method

This article presents the development and validation of the Superquadric Discrete Element Method(SuperDEM)for non-spherical particle simulation using a superquadric particle method in open-source CfD suite MfiX.A superquadric particle-particle contact algorithm with accelerating and stabilizing strategy was developed.A superquadric particle-arbitrary wall contact algorithm was developed,which enables the simulation in complex *** solver was validated by comparing with experimental data generated in this study or available in the *** include cylinder contacting with a wall,static packing of M&M chocolate candies in a cylindrical container,static packing of cylinders in a cylindrical container,dynamic angle of repose of cylinders in a rotating drum,and discharging of chocolate candies from a ***,MPI parallelization of the solver was implemented and the parallel performance of the solver using MPI was assessed through large-scale simulations of 1 million,10 million,and 100 million particles on up to 6800 cores,which demonstrates that the SuperDEM solver has great potential for industrial-scale systems simulation.
