El Soplao outcrop, an Early Cretaceous amber deposit recently discovered in northern Spain （Cantabria）, has been shown to be the largest site of amber with arthropod inclusions that has been found in Spain so far. Relevant data provided herein for biogeochemistry of the amber, palynology, taphonomy and arthropod bioinclusions complement those previously published. This set of data suggests at least two botanical sources for the amber of El Soplao deposit. The first （type A amber） strongly supports a source related to Cheirolepidiaceae, and the second （type B amber） shows non-specific conifer biomarkers. Comparison of molecular composition of type A amber with Frenelopsis leaves （Cheirolepidiaceae） strongly suggests a biochemical affinity and a common botanical origin. A preliminary palynological study indicates a regional high taxonomical diversity, mainly of pteridophyte spores and gymnosperm pollen grains. According to the preliminary palynological data, the region was inhabited by conifer forests adapted to a dry season under a subtropical climate. The abundant charcoalified wood associated with the amber in the same beds is evidence of paleofires that most likely promoted both the resin production and an intensive erosion of the litter, and subsequent great accumulation of amber plus plant cuticles. In addition, for the first time in the fossil record, charcoalified plant fibers as bioinclnsions in amber are reported. Other relevant taphonomic data are the exceptional presence of serpulids and bryozoans on the surfaces of some amber pieces indicating both a long exposure on marine or brackish-water and a mixed assemblage of amber. lastly, new findings of insect bioiuclusions, some of them uncommon in the fossil record or showing remarkable adaptations, are reported. In conclusion, a documented scenario for the origin of the El Soplao amber outcrop is provided.

Subjective experience and visual attention to a historic building:A real-world eyetracking study

The objective of this exploratory study is to discover the relations between visual attention to an architectural work and the subjective experiences produced during its observation.A subjective experience with a building is the specific manner in which an architectural element or the building as a whole are presented to a *** qualities of the element as how they are perceived and the inner world of the observer are both considered in this subjective *** aims of this study are to describe the experience that a building generates in people,pinpoint what has attracted the participant's attention during each view of the building in an itinerary;and understand which aspects of this selected case study have made it an object of attend *** eye-tracking study was carried out using a portable eye *** tool allowed the participants to walk freely around the exterior of a historic train station in the city of Monterrey,*** groups of participants,with routes starting from opposite sides of the building,contemplated it while using the eye *** tracking allowed for the identification of the architectural elements that were objects of attention,the lengths of observation,and the points of view from which the elements were *** data collection techniques,such as the think-aloud protocol and a special type of survey,were used to deeply understand the experiences that accompanied the visual exploration of the historic *** suggest that the participants observed the different architectural elements for a time that was neither influenced by the route used to explore the building nor the point where that route was *** architectural elements identified as examples of high-quality architecture and perceived as aesthetically pleasing by the participants during the itinerary were observed for longer times.

deduction and Validation of an Eulerian-Eulerian Model for Turbulent Dilute Two-Phase Flows by Means of the Phase Indicator Function-Disperse Elements Probability density Function

A statistical formalism overcoming some conceptual and practical difficulties arising in existing two-phase flow (2PHF) mathematical modelling has been applied to propose a model for dilute 2PHF turbulent Hows. Phase interaction terms with a clear physical meaning enter the equations and the formalism provides some guidelines for the avoidance of closure assumptions or the rational approximation of these terms. Continuous phase averaged continuity, momentum, turbulent kinetic energy and turbulence dissipation rate equations have been rigorously and systematically obtained in a single step. These equations display a structure similar to that for single-phase flows. It is also assumed that dispersed phase dynamics is well described by a probability density function (pdf) equation and Eulerian continuity, momentum and fluctuating kinetic energy equations for the dispersed phase are deduced. An extension of the standard k-e turbulence model for the continuous phase is used. A gradient transport model is adopted for the dispersed phase fluctuating fluxes of momentum and kinetic energy at the non-colliding, large inertia limit. This model is then used to predict the behaviour of three axisymmetric turbulent jets of air laden with solid particles varying in size and concentration. Qualitative and quantitative numerical predictions compare reasonably well with the three different sets of experimental results, studying the influence of particle size, loading ratio and flow confinement velocity.

Currently,the industry is experiencing an exponential increase in dealing with binary-based combinatorial *** this sense,metaheuristics have been a common trend in the field in order to design approaches to solve them ***,a well-known strategy consists in the use of algorithms based on discrete swarms transformed to perform in binary *** the No Free Lunch theorem,we are interested in testing the performance of the Fruit Fly Algorithm,this is a bio-inspired metaheuristic for deducing global optimization in continuous spaces,based on the foraging behavior of the fruit fly,which usually has much better sensory perception of smell and vision than any other *** the other hand,the Set Coverage Problem is a well-known NP-hard problem with many practical applications,including production line balancing,utility installation,and crew scheduling in railroad and mass transit *** this paper,we propose different binarization methods for the Fruit Fly Algorithm,using Sshaped and V-shaped transfer functions and various discretization methods to make the algorithm work in a binary search *** are motivated with this approach,because in this way we can deliver to future researchers interested in this area,a way to be able to work with continuous metaheuristics in binary *** new approach was tested on benchmark instances of the Set Coverage Problem and the computational results show that the proposed algorithm is robust enough to produce good results with low computational cost.

The most salient problems of transit vehicle service in latin American intermediate cities include:the high number of passengers involved in traffic accidents;traffic congestion caused by transit vehicles,and pollution generated by these vehicles,which increases in high congestion *** improve upon this situation,a research was conducted on the transit vehicle tracking service,which is a basic service for implementing mobility solutions for the aforementioned problems,the most relevant characteristics of this service for the context of latin American intermediate cities were identified,and an implementation was *** paper presents the four stages of the study:(a)a review of the state-of-the-art of services or systems related to vehicle tracking,including wireless communications technologies,implemented sustainability approaches,usage of special algorithms for efficiency improvement,and the intelligent transportation system(ITS)architecture used as a basis;(b)the process of identifying relevant characteristics of the service for a given context;(c)proposal of an ITS architecture for this service in an intermediate city,its requirements and the suggested technologies;and(d)development of experiments for validating usage of the key suggested *** review allowed to identify the main service characteristics,with regard to vehicle positioning technologies,the recommended wireless communication technology(long range,LoRa),energy consumption considerations,and use of artificial intelligence(AI)to calculate waiting time of users at bus ***,an ITS architecture for the city of Popayan(Colombian city)considering the aforementioned characteristics is proposed,and the experiments related to the use of these technologies are described in detail.

Evaluation of patient visual comfort and repeatability of refractive values in non-presbyopic healthy eyes

AIMTo evaluate the intra-operator repeatability in healthy subjects using the WAM-5500 auto-kerato/refractometer and the iTrace aberrometer, to compare the refractive values and the subjective refraction obtained with both devices and to determine which of these three spherocylindrical corrections allows the subject to achieve the best visual ***-two non-presbyopic healthy eyes of 42 subjects were enrolled in this prospective study. Refractive values were compared, evaluating the repeatability, the relationship between the methods and the best visual comfort ***, cylinder and axis results showed good intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC); the highest ICC was obtained using the spherical refraction with the autorefractometer and the aberrometer, achieving levels of 0.999 and 0.998, respectively. The power vector (PV) was calculated for each refraction method, and the results indicated that there were no statistically significant differences between them (P>0.05). Direct comparison of PV measurements using the three methods showed that aberrometer refraction gave the highest values, followed by the subjective values; the autorefractometer gave the lowest values. The subjective method correction was most frequently chosen as the first selection. Equal values were found for the autorefractometer and the aberrometer as the second *** iTrace aberrometer and the WAM-5500 auto-kerato/refractometer showed high levels of repeatability in healthy eyes. Refractive corrections with the aberrometer, the autorefractometer and subjective methods presented similar results, but spherocylindrical subjective correction was the most frequently selected option. These technologies can be used as complements in refractive evaluation, but they should not replace subjective refraction.
