Insights into the origin of precipitation moisture for tropical cyclones during rapid intensification process

In this study,we identiﬁed the moisture sources for the precipitation associated with tropical cyclones(TCs)during the rapid intensiﬁcation(RI)process from 1980 to 2018 by applying a Lagrangian moisture source diagnostic *** detected sixteen regions on a global scale for RI events distributed as follows:four in the North Atlantic(NATL),two in the Central and East Paciﬁc Ocean(NEPAC),the North Indian Ocean(NIO)and South Indian Ocean(SIO),and three in the South Paciﬁc Ocean(SPO)and the Western North Paciﬁc Ocean(WNP).The moisture uptake(mU)mostly was from the regions where TCs underwent *** Western NATL,tropical NATL,Caribbean Sea,the Gulf of mexico and the Central America and mexico landmass supported~85.4%of the precipitating moisture in the NATL,while the latter source and the eastern North Paciﬁc Ocean provided the higher amount of moisture in NEPAC(~84.3%).The Arabian Sea,the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Peninsula were the major moisture sources in NIO,contributing approximately 81.3%.The eastern and western parts of the Indian Ocean supplied most of the atmospheric humidity in SIO(~83.8%).The combined contributions(~87.9%)from the western and central SPO and the Coral Sea were notably higher in ***,TCs in the WNP basin mostly received moisture from the western North Paciﬁc Ocean,the Philippine Sea and the China Sea,accounting for 80.1%.The remaining moisture support in each basin came from the summed contributions of the remote ***,RI TCs gained more moisture up to 2500 km from the cyclone centre than those slow intensiﬁcation(SI)and the total mU was approximately three times higher during RI than ***,the patterns of the mU differences respond to the typical pathways of moisture transport in each basin.

Numerical modeling of mass Transfer in the Interaction between River Biofilm and a Turbulent Boundary Layer

In this article dedicated to the modeling of vertical mass transfers between the biofilm and the bulk flow, we have, in the first instance, presented the methodology used, followed by the presentation of various results obtained through analyses conducted on velocity fields, different fluxes, and overall transfer coefficients. Due to numerical constraints (resolution of relevant spatial scales), we have restricted the analysis to low Schmidt numbers (Sc=0.1, Sc=1, and Sc=10) and a single roughness Reynolds number (Re*=150). The analysis of instantaneous concentration fields from various simulations revealed logarithmic concentration profiles above the canopy. In this zone, the concentration is relatively homogeneous for longer times. The analysis of results also showed that the contribution of molecular diffusion to the total flux depends on the Schmidt number. This contribution is negligible for Schmidt numbers Sc≥0.1, but nearly balances the turbulent flux for Sc=0.1. In the canopy, the local Sherwood number, given by the ratio of the total flux (within or above the canopy) to the molecular diffusion flux at the wall, also depends on the Schmidt number and varies significantly between the canopy and the region above. The exchange velocity, a purely hydrodynamic parameter, is independent of the Schmidt number and is on the order of 10% of in the present case. This study also reveals that nutrient absorption by organisms near the wall depends on the Schmidt number. Such absorption is facilitated by lower Schmidt numbers.

On February 16,2021,an artificial object moving slowly over the mediterranean was recorded by the Spanish meteor Network(SPmN).Based on astrometric measurements,we identified this event as the reentry engine burn of a SpaceX Falcon 9 launch vehicle’s upper *** study this event in detail,we adapted the plane intersection method for near-straight meteoroid trajectories to analyze the slow and curved orbits associated with artificial *** corroborate our results,we approximated the orbital elements of the upper stage using four pieces of“debris”cataloged by the ***’s Combined Space Operations *** on these calculations,we also estimated the possible deorbit hazard zone using the mSISE90 model *** provide guidance regarding the interference that these artificial bolides may generate in fireball ***,because artificial bolides will likely become more frequent in the future,we point out the new role that ground-based detection networks can play in the monitoring of potentially hazardous artificial objects in near-Earth space and in determining the strewn fields of artificial space debris.

Organic solar cells(OSCs)have emerged as a promising solution for sustainable energy production,offering advantages such as a low carbon footprint,short energy payback period,and compatibility with ***,the use of hazardous solvents continues to dominate the best-performing OSCs,mainly because of the challenges of controlling phase separation and domain crystallinity in *** this study,we combined the solvent vapor treatment of CS2 and thermal annealing to precisely control the phase separation and domain crystallinity in Pm6:m-Cl and Pm6:O-Cl systems processed with the eco-solvent *** method resulted in a maximum power conversion efficiency(PCE)of 18.4%,which is among the highest values reported for sustainable binary ***,the fabrication techniques were transferred from spin coating in a nitrogen environment to blade printing in ambient air,retaining a PCE of 16.0%,showing its potential for high-throughput and scalable *** addition,a comparative analysis of OSCs processed with hazardous and green solvents was conducted to reveal the differences in phase *** work not only underscores the significance of sustainability in OSCs but also lays the groundwork for unlocking the full potential of open-air-printable sustainable OSCs for commercialization.

Introduction: The incidence of acute renal failure (ARF) varies between 20% and 40% of cases for COVID-19 patients admitted to the intensive care unit, with very high mortality, but heterogeneous according to the different epidemic waves, probably due to the genetic variant phenomenon of the virus. The aim of this study is to determine the morbidity and mortality of COVID-19 patients admitted with ARF to the intensive care unit of the Grand H?pital Est Francilien (GHEF) according to the waves and variants. methods: Cross-sectional observational study of COVID-19 patients with ARF admitted to the intensive care unit of the GHEF site in meaux covering the period from march 1st 2020 to December, 31st 2021. Per-hospitalisation and outcome data were collected and analysed with SPSS version 25.0 software using the Chi-square or Fischer’s exact test or Student’s t-test and logistic regression for p Results: A total of 86 patients were included. The mean age was higher (70 ± 8.5) in patients in the fourth wave than in the other waves (p = 0.015), with male predominance in all waves without significant difference. Co-morbidities: hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, dyslipidaemia and arrhythmia complete with fibrillation were present in all waves. The majority of patients were classified as KDIGO 1 for the different waves (1st: 61.9%, 2nd: 86.5%, 3rd: 80%, and 4th: 75%), with the same trend according to variant (alpha: 80%, beta: 75%, delta: 81.3%, omicron: 75%). mortality by the wave was: 1st: 28.5%, 2nd: 37.5%, 3rd: 23% and 4th: 11%) and by variant: alpha: 24.2%, beta: 44.8%, delta: 20.7%, omicron: 10.3%). Overall mortality was 33.7%. Case fatality was higher in the fourth wave. There is a need to develop interventions to slow or reverse the degeneration of dopamine neurons in Parkinson’s disease after *** that preclinical and clinical studies suggest benefits of dietary n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids,such as docosahexaenoic acid,and exercise in Parkinson’s disease,we investigated whether both could synergistically interact to induce recovery of the dopaminergic ***,mice received a unilateral stereotactic injection of 6-hydroxydopamine into the striatum to establish an animal model of nigrostriatal *** weeks after lesion,animals were fed a docosahexaenoic acid-enriched or a control diet for the next 8 *** this period,the animals had access to a running wheel,which they could use or *** acid treatment,voluntary exercise,or the combination of both had no effect on(i)distance traveled in the open field test,(ii)the percentage of contraversive rotations in the apomorphine-induction test or(iii)the number of tyrosine-hydroxylase-positive cells in the substantia nigra pars ***,the docosahexaenoic acid diet increased the number of tyrosine-hydroxylase-positive terminals and induced a rise in dopamine concentrations in the lesioned *** to docosahexaenoic acid treatment or exercise alone,the combination of docosahexaenoic acid and exercise(i)improved forelimb balance in the stepping test,(ii)decreased the striatal DOPAC/dopamine ratio and(iii)led to increased dopamine transporter levels in the lesioned *** present results suggest that the combination of exercise and docosahexaenoic acid may act synergistically in the striatum of mice with a unilateral lesion of the dopaminergic system and provide support for clinical trials combining nutrition and physical exercise in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.

BACKGROUND The association between the intestinal microbiota and psychiatric disorders is becoming increasingly *** gut microbiota contributes to colorectal carcinogenesis(CRC),as demonstrated with colibactin-producing Escherichia coli(CoPEC).AIm To evaluate the association between CoPEC prevalence and anxiety-and depressive-like behaviors with both preclinical and clinical *** Patients followed after a CRC surgery and for whom the prevalence of CoPEC has been investigated underwent a psychiatric *** were compared according to the CoPEC *** parallel C57BL6/J wild type mice and mice with a CRC susceptibility were chronically infected with a CoPEC *** behavior was assessed using the Elevated Plus maze test,the Forced Swimming Test and the Behavior recognition system PhenoTyper®.RESULTS In a limited cohort,all patients with CoPEC colonization presented with psychiatric disorders several years before cancer diagnosis,whereas only one patient(17%)without CoPEC *** result was confirmed in C57BL6/J wildtype mice and in a CRC susceptibility mouse model(adenomatous polyposis colimultiple intestinal neoplasia/+).mice exhibited a significant increase in anxiety-and depressive-like behaviors after chronic infection with a CoPEC *** This finding provides the first evidence that CoPEC infection can induce microbiota-gut-brain axis disturbances in addition to its procarcinogenic properties.
