Mechanism research on arsenic removal from arsenopyrite ore during a sintering process

The mechanism of arsenic removal during a sintering process was investigated through experiments with a sintering pot and arsenic-bearing iron ore containing arsenopyrite; the corresponding chemical properties of the sinter were determined by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The experimental results revealed that the reaction of arsenic removal is mainly related to the oxygen atmosphere and temperature. During the sintering process, arsenic could be removed in the ignition layer, the sinter layer, and the combustion zone. A portion of FeAsS reacted with excess oxygen to generate FeAsO4, and the rest of the FeAsS reacted with oxygen to generate As2O3(g) and SO2(g). A portion of As2O3(g) mixed with Al2O3or CaO, which resulted in the formation of arsenates such as AlAsO4and Ca3(AsO4)2, leading to arsenic residues in sintering products. The FeAsS component in the blending ore was difficult to decompose in the preliminary heating zone, the dry zone, or the bottom layer because of the relatively low temperatures; however, As2O3(g) that originated from the high-temperature zone could react with metal oxides, resulting in the formation of arsenate residues. © 2017, University of Science and Technology Beijing and Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

Effect of process parameters on dry centrifugal granulation of molten slag by a rotary disk atomizer

Dry centrifugal granulation(DCG)experiments for blast furnace slag(BFS)were performed by means of a rotary disk atomizer since water quenching method can create a series of *** results showed that the DCG method can granulate the BFS,but the results are easily affected by the slag flow rate,disk rotating speed,disk radius,disk material and slag falling *** granulating parameters with an excessive flow rate,low rotating speed,SiN–SiC disk,stainless steel disk and low slag falling height are detrimental to the granulation *** most suitable parameters for granulation are a slag flow rate of 5.1×10^(−5) m^(3)/s,a disk rotating speed of 1500–2300 r/min,a slag falling height of 0.8 m and a smooth graphitic disk with the radius of 0.1 *** the absence of an off-center flow,the overall best granulating effect produces round particles with mean diameter of 3.43 mm without creating slag *** vitreous content of the BFS particles granulated by graphite disks is 92%,which meets the requirements of cement raw *** Bond work index of dry granulated BFS is 18.4 kWh/t,and the grindability of dry granulated slag and water-quenched slag is similar.

Improving cleanliness of 30Cr2Ni4MoV low-pressure rotor steel by CaO-SiO_(2)-MgO-Al_(2)O_(3) slag refining

The optimal composition of a CaO-SiO_(2)-Al_(2)O_(3)-MgO slag in the ladle furnace refining process was investigated to precisely control the contents of[0]and[Si]and improve the cleanliness of 30Cr2Ni4MoV *** iso-[O]lines and iso-[Si] lines of the equilibrium between the CaO-SiO_(2)-Al_(2)O_(3)-MgO refining slag and 30Cr2Ni4MoV steel at 1873 K were calculated by the thermodynamic software FactSage 7.3,and the activities of SiO_(2),Al_(2)O_(3)and CaO in the refining slag were discussed to achieve the optimal composition range of the refining ***,combined with high-temperature"slag-steel"equilibrium experiments,the effects of different refining slags on the oxygen contents,chemical composi-tions,quantities and sizes of inclusions in steels were studied,and then the thermody namic formation mechanism of MgAl_(2)O_(4) inclusions in 30Cr2Ni4MoV steel was *** results showed that the contents of dissolved[O]nd[Si]in steel can be controlled below 10 × 10^(-6)and 0.05%.respectively;when the slag basicity is above *** CaO/Al_(2)O_(3)ratio is above *** the mass fraction of SiO_(2)in the slag docs not cxcced 7%.The chemical composition of the slag has a great influence on the removal and composition of *** assessed stability phase diagrams of ***_(2)O_(3)and MgOAl_(2)O_(3) inclusion formation in the Fe-Al-Mg-O system calculated by FactSage 7.3 show good agreement with the experimental results.

Quantum phase transition of the Jaynes-Cummings model

Herein,we propose an experimentally feasible scheme to show the quantum phase transition of the Jaynes-Cummings(JC)model by modulating the transition frequency of a two-level system in a quantum Rabi model with strong *** tuning the modulation frequency and amplitude,the ratio of the effective coupling strength of the rotating terms to the effective cavity(atomic transition)frequency can enter the deep-strong coupling regime,while the counter-rotating terms can be ***,a deep-strong JC model is *** ratio of the coupling strength to resonance frequencies in the deep-strong JC model is two orders of magnitude larger than the corresponding ratio in the original quantum Rabi *** scheme can be employed in atom-cavity resonance and off-resonance cases,and it is valid over a broad *** nonzero average cavity photons of the ground state indicate the emergence of a quantum phase ***,we demonstrate the dependence of the phase diagram on the atom-cavity detuning and modulation *** the parameters used in our scheme are within the reach of current experimental *** scheme provides a new mechanism for investigating the critical phenomena of finite-sized systems without requiring classical field limits,thereby opening a door for studying fundamental quantum phenomena occurring in the ultrastrong and even deep-strong coupling regimes.

Optimizing piezoelectric performance of complex perovskite through increasing diversity of B-site cations

Piezoelectric materials with unique properties are hugely appealing for high sensitivity sensors and ultrasonic ***,Pb(Ni_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))O_(3)-Pb(Yb_(1/2)Nb_(1/2))O_(3)-PbTiO_(3)piezoelectric system was designed and investigated in *** optimized piezoelectric response(d_(33)=826 pC/N,d_(33)∗=1017 pm/V)together with good temperature stability and negligible performance degradation up to 10^(6) cycles was achieved in 0.58PNN-0.10PYN-0.32PT *** analysis revealed the amplification of intrinsic and extrinsic contributions in MPB region due to more spontaneous polarization orientations and an increase in chemical disorder of system after the introduction of *** origin of high piezoelectric response was investigated through the combination of scanning electron microscopy and piezoresponse force *** diversity of B-site cations was shown to enhance local structural heterogeneity,weaken long-range ferroelectric ordered domains,and lower free energy barrier via the formation of nanodomain configuration that promoted polarization rotation,thereby improving piezoelectric properties of the ***,it is suggested that increasing the diversity of B-site cations is an effective strategy for achieving outstanding piezoelectric performance.

Oxidation behavior of low-grade vanadiferous titanomagnetite concentrate with high titanium

In order to clarify the oxidation mechanisms and make better use of the low-grade vanadiferous titanomagnetite concentrate with high titanium(LVTC),the oxidation behavior of LVTC was *** results showed that oxidation degree was achieved within 90 min when temperature was not lower than 700°C,and the main phases of the oxidized LVTC consisted of Fe9TiO15,Fe2O3,CaSiTiO5 and a small amount of *** temperature is favorable to the formation of *** surface of LVTC gradually becomes rough,with fine particles of needle-like and granular shape appearing on the surface,which finally turn from laminar to creamy,spread out,and are interspersed with many tiny *** phase oxidation paths in LVTC were as follows:(1)Fe2.75Ti0.25O4→Fe9TiO15+Fe2O3;(2)Fe2.75Ti0.25O4→Fe2O3+FeTiO3→Fe2TiO5;(3)FeTiO3→Fe2O3+Fe2Ti3O9→*** is predominantly mesoporous whether oxidized or not,with the pores mainly distributed in the range of 2–40 nm,and the specific surface area of LVTC decreases significantly with increasing temperature.

Dual modification of LiNi_(0.83)Co_(0.11)Mn_(0.06)O_(2) cathode materials by K^(+) doping and Li_(3)PO_(4) coating for lithium ions batteries

Li_(3)PO_(4)@Li_(0.99)K_(0.01)Ni_(0.83)Co_(0.11)Mn_(O.06)O_(2)(NCM-KP) cathode powders are synthesized via K^(+)doping in calcination processes and H_3PO_4 coating in sol-gel processes.K^(+) precisely enters into the lattice to widen the(003) plane to 0.4746 nm with a lower cationic disordered degree of 1.87%.Moreover,the surface residual lithium salts are treated by H_3PO_4 to generate a uniform Li_(3)PO_(4) coating layer of approximately 11.41 nm,which completely covers on the surface of secondary spherical particles to improve the interfacial *** 25℃,the NCM-KP electrode delivers a discharge specific capacity of 148.9 mAh·g^(-1) with a remarkable capacity retention ratio of 84.1% after 200 cycles at 1.0C and retains a high reversible specific capacity of 154.4 mAh·g^(-1) at *** at 1.0C and 60℃,it can maintain a reversible discharge specific capacity of 114.6 mAh·g^(-1) with 0.21% of capacity decay per cycle after 200 cycles,which is significantly lower than 0.40% for the pristine NCM ***,the charge transfer resistance of 238.89 Ω for the NCM-KP electrode is significantly lower than 947.41 Ω for the pristine NCM one by restricting the interfacial side ***,combining K+doping and Li_(3)PO_(4) coating is an effective strategy to enable the significant improvement of the electrochemical property of high-nickel cathode materials,which may be mainly attributed to the widened diffusion pathway and the formed Li_(3)PO_(4) protective layer,thus promoting Li~+diffusion rate and preventing the erosion of HF.

Surface plasmon-coupled radiative heat transfer between graphene-covered magnetic Weyl semimetals

Weyl semimetals(WSMs) have recently attracted considerable research attention because of their remarkable optical and electrical properties. In this study, we investigate the near-field radiative heat transfer(NFRHT) between graphene-covered Weyl slabs, particularly focusing on the supported coupled surface plasmon polaritons(SPPs). Unlike bare Weyl slabs where the epsilon-near-zero(ENZ) effect contributes the most to the NFRHT, adding a monolayer graphene sheet yields coupled SPPs, i.e.,the coupling of graphene SPPs(GSPPs) and Weyl SPPs(WSPPs), which dominates the NFRHT. The graphene sheet greatly suppresses the ENZ effect by compressing the parallel wavevector, thereby enabling the heat transfer coefficient(HTC) to be significantly changed. Further, for the graphene-covered magnetic Weyl slab configuration, an increase in the number of Weyl nodes suppresses the SPP coupling and ENZ effect, thereby weakening the NFRHT with a regulation ratio of 4.4 whereas an increase in the Fermi level slightly influences the NFRHT. Several typical heterostructures are also proposed for comparison, and results show that a mono-cell structure has the largest total HTC. Our findings will facilitate the understanding of surface plasmon-coupled radiative heat transfer and enable opportunities in energy harvesting and thermal management at the nanoscale based on WSM-based systems.
