CT diagnosis of 52 patients with lymphoma in abdominal lymph nodes

AIM： To assess CT manifestations and its diagnostic value for lymphoma in the abdominal lymph nodes （LALN）.METHODS： CT findings in 52 cases of LALN proved by surgery or biopsy, including Hodgkin＇s disease （HD） in 16 cases and non-Hodgkin＇s lymphoma （NHL） in 36 cases, were retrospectively analyzed.RESULTS：（1） CT manifestations based on distribution of the lesions of LALN： Solitary mass type was found in 10 cases, including solitary, round, uniform-density, enlarged lymph nodes in 3 cases; and multiple, enlarged lymph nodes fusing into singular Iobular mass in 7 cases. Thirty-feur cases of multiple-nodular type showed multiple, round, enlarged lymph nodes with uniform density and clear margins. Vessels-embedded signs, including mesenteric vessels, renal vessels, abdominal aorta or inferior vena cava, were seen in 6 cases, and duodenum-embedded signs were seen in 2 cases. Eight cases of diffuse type showed characteristic ＂cobblestone signs＂. （2） CT manifestations correlated with pathological type： CT manifestations of 12 cases of HD were different from those of 40 cases of NHL in distribution, size, quantity and fused lesion of enlarged lymph nodes. （3） Twenty-eight cases of 52 patients were accompanied with extra-nodal lymphoma in the abdomen, especially gastrointestinal lymphoma, which had characteristic CT findings. （4） In follow-up examinations, CT images showed uniform, heterogeneous or rim enhancement in 15 cases, and occasional calcifications accompanied with reduction of the lesion size and quantity in 12 cases, whereas the lesions disappeared in 3 cases after treatment.CONCLUSION： CT images show many characteristic manifestations valuable for qualitative diagnosis of LALN, and it is also helpful for pathological classification of LALN and therapeutic evaluation in follow-up of patients.

Eosinophilic gastroenteritis(EG) is a rare,distinct clinical entity,and EG associated with eosinophilic cystitis(EC) is extremely rare and has not been well ***,we report two cases of EG and coexistent EC along with findings from computed tomography(CT) and magnetic resonance imaging(Mri).An 18-year-old male with a history of hematuria,urgency and occasional urodynia for two weeks and a 34-year-old male with a history of abdominal distention for one week were admitted to our *** contrast-enhanced CT in both patients revealed wall thickening in different parts of the gastrointestinal tract with inhomogeneous reinforcement,coexistent with local or diffuse bladder wall thickening with progressive enhancement,and also showed that the bladder mucosal lining was *** Mri showed that the local or diffuse thickened bladder wall was iso-intense on T1-weighted images,hypointense on T2-weighted images,and slightly restricted on diffusion weighted imaging(DWI) in one *** therapy,the thickened wall of the gastrointestinal tract and urinary bladder had improved markedly in the two *** the best of our knowledge,this is the first report on the radiological imaging of EG and coexistent EC by both CT and Mri and the first with DWI findings.

Contrast-enhanced multiple-phase imaging features in hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

AIM： To investigate and review the contrast-enhanced multiple-phase computed tomography （CEMP CT） and magnetic resonance imaging （Mri） findings in patients with pathologically confirmed hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma （HEHE）. METHODS： Findings from imaging examinations in 8 patients （5 women and 3 men） with pathologically confirmed HEHE were retrospectively reviewed （CT images obtained from 7 patients and MR images obtained from 6 patients）. The age of presentation varied from 27 years to 60 years （average age 39.8 years）. RESULTS： There were two types of HEHE： multifocal type （n = 7） and diffuse type （n = 1）. Tn the multifocal-type cases, there were 74 lesions on CT and 28 lesions on Mri with 7 lesions found with diffusion weighted imaging; 18 （24.3%） of 74 lesions on plain CT and 26 （92.9%） of 28 lesions on pre-contrast Mri showed the target sign. On CEMP CT, 28 （37.8%） of 74 lesions appeared with the target sign and a progressive-enhancement rim and 9 （12.2%） of 74 lesions displayed progressive enhancement, maintaining a state of persistent enhancement. On CEMP Mri, 27 （96.4%） of 28 lesions appeared with the target sign with a progressive-enhancement rim and 28 （100%） of 28 lesions displayed progressive-enhancement, maintaining a state of persistent enhancement. In the diffuse-type cases, an enlarged liver was observed with a large nodule appearing with persistent enhancement on CEMP CT and Mri. CONCLUSION： The most important imaging features of HEHE are the target sign and/or progressive en- hancement with persistent enhancement on CEMP CT and Mri. Mri is advantageous over CT in displaying these imaging features.

A case of primary malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the pancreas: CT and Mri findings

Primary malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) of the pancreas is rare and a distinct clinical entity. We report a case of recurrence of pancreatic MFH with computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (Mri) findings. A 67-year-old man presented with a history of decreased body weight over the past 6 mo. Abdominal CT revealed a large, multilocular cystic mass in the head of the pancreas with obvious atrophy in the body and tail of the pancreas. After 6 mo postoperatively, Mri demonstrated a recurrent large mass in the primary area of the head of the pancreas. The lesion was heterogeneous, hypointense to the liver on T1-weighted imaging, and heterogeneously hyperintense to the liver with a hypointense area in the central part of the tumor on fat-saturated T2-weighted imaging. Contrast- enhanced T1-weighted imaging demonstrated a large multilocular cystic mass with a cystic wall, fibrous septa and enhancement of solid components. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on recurrence of primary MFH of the pancreas, and the first with Mri findings.

Biochemical metabolic changes assessed by ^(31)P magnetic resonance spectroscopy after radiation-induced hepatic injury in rabbits

AIM： To compare the features of biochemical metabolic changes detected by hepatic phosphorus-31 magnetic resonance spectroscopy （^31p MRS） with the liver damage score （LDS） and pathologic changes in rabbits and to investigate the diagnostic value of ^31p MRS in acute hepatic radiation injury. METHODS： A total of 30 rabbits received different radiation doses （ranging 5-20 Gy） to establish acute hepatic injury models. Blood biochemical tests, ^31p MRS and pathological examinations were carried out 24 h after irradiation. The degree of injury was evaluated according to LD5 and pathology. Ten healthy rabbits served as controls. The MR examination was performed on a 1.5 T imager using a 1H/^31P surface coil by the 2D chemical shift imaging technique. The relative quantities of phosphomonoesters （PME）, phosphodiesters （PDE）, inorganic phosphate （Pi） and adenosine triphosphate （ATP） were measured. The data were statistically analyzed. RESULTS：（1） Relative quantification of phosphorus metabolites：（a） ATP： there were significant differences （P 〈 0.05）（LDS-groups：control group vs mild group vs moderate group vs severe group, 1.83±0.33 vs 1.55±0.24 vs 1.27±0.09 vs 0.98±0.18; pathological groups： control group vs mild group vs moderate group vs severe group, 1.83±0.33 vs 1.58±0.25 vs 1.32±0.07 vs 1.02±0.18） of ATP relative quantification among control group, mild injured group, moderate injured group, and severe injured group according to both LDS grading and pathological grading, respectively, and it decreased progressively with the increased degree of injury （r = -0.723, P = 0.000）. （b） PME and Pi; the relative quantification of PME and Pi decreased significantly in the severe injured group, and the difference between the control group and severe injured group was significant （P 〈 0.05）（PME： 1DS- control group vs LDS-severe group, 0.86±0.23 vs 0.58±0.22, P = 0.031; pathological control group vs pathological severe group, 0.86±0.23 vs 0.60±0.21, P = 0.037; Pi： LDS-control

MXene Hybridized Polymer with Enhanced Electromagnetic Energy Harvest for Sensitized Microwave Actuation and Self‑Powered Motion Sensing

Polymeric microwave actuators combining tissue-like softness with programmablemicrowave-responsive deformation hold great promise for mobile intelligentdevices and bionic soft robots. However, their application is challenged by restricted electromagneticsensitivity and intricate sensing coupling. In this study, a sensitized polymericmicrowave actuator is fabricated by hybridizing a liquid crystal polymer with Ti3C2Tx(MXene). Compared to the initial counterpart, the hybrid polymer exhibits unique spacechargepolarization and interfacial polarization, resulting in significant improvements of230% in the dielectric loss factor and 830% in the apparent efficiency of electromagneticenergy harvest. The sensitized microwave actuation demonstrates as the shortenedresponse time of nearly 10 s, which is merely 13% of that for the initial shape memory polymer. Moreover, the ultra-low content of MXene (upto 0.15 wt%) benefits for maintaining the actuation potential of the hybrid polymer. An innovative self-powered sensing prototype that combinesdriving and piezoelectric polymers is developed, which generates real-time electric potential feedback (open-circuit potential of ~ 3 mV) duringactuation. The polarization-dominant energy conversion mechanism observed in the MXene-polymer hybrid structure furnishes a new approachfor developing efficient electromagnetic dissipative structures and shows potential for advancing polymeric electromagnetic intelligent devices.

New Insights on Gamma-Ray Burst Radiation Mechanisms from Multiwavelength Observations

The study of high-energy gamma-ray emission from gamma-ray bursts(GRBs) involves complex synchrotron radiation and synchrotron self-Compton(SSC) scattering mechanisms with multiple parameters exhibiting a wide distribution. Recent advancements in GRB research, particularly the observation of very high energy(VHE,>100 Ge V) radiation, have ushered in a new era of multiwavelength exploration, offering fresh perspectives and limitations for understanding GRB radiation mechanisms. This study aimed to leverage VHE observations to refine constraints on synchrotron + SSC radiation from electrons accelerated by forward shocks. By analyzing two external environments—the uniform interstellar medium and stratified stellar wind medium, we conducted spectral and variability fitting for five specific bursts(GRB 180720B, GRB 190114C, GRB 190829A, GRB 201216C, and GRB 221009A) to identify the optimal parameters characterizing these events. A comparative analysis of model parameter distributions with and without VHE radiation observations reveals that the magnetic energy equipartition factor εBis more concentrated with VHE emissions. This suggests that VHE emissions may offer greater constraints on this microphysical parameter. Additionally, we found that the energy budget between VHE and ke V–Me V γ-ray emissions under the SSC radiation exhibits an almost linear relationship, which may serve as a tool to differentiate radiation mechanisms. We anticipate future statistical analyses of additional VHE bursts to validate our findings.

The global spin alignment of vector mesons has been observed by the STAR collaboration at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider(RHIC)at Brookhaven National Laboratory(BNL).It provides a unique opportunity to probe the correlation between the po-larized quark and antiquark in the strongly coupled quark-gluon plasma(sQGP)produced in relativistic heavy ion collisions,opening a new window to explore the properties of *** addition,spin alignments of vector mesons have also been observed in other high-energy particle collisions such as e^(+)e^(−)annihilations at high energies where hadron production is dominated by quark fragmentation *** results obtained are quite different from those obtained in heavy ion collisions where quark coalescence/combination mechanism dominates suggesting strong dependence on hadronization *** comprehensive studies in different hadronization processes are *** this article,we present a brief review of theoretical and experimen-tal advances in the study of vector meson’s spin alignments in a variety of high-energy particle collisions,with emphasis on hadronization mechanisms.

Quantum-enhanced interferometry with unbalanced entangled coherent states

We propose a quantum-enhanced metrological scheme utilizing unbalanced entangled coherent states(ECSs) generated by passing a coherent state and a coherent state superposition through an unbalanced beam splitter(BS). We identify the optimal phase sensitivity of this scheme by maximizing the quantum Fisher information(QFI) with respect to the BS transmission ratio. Our scheme outperforms the conventional scheme with a balanced BS, particularly in the presence of single-mode photon loss. Notably, our scheme retains quantum advantage in phase sensitivity in the limit of high photon intensity, where the balanced scheme offers no advantage over the classical strategy.
