the US embargo on Cuba has been and continues to be a very debatable topic that generates much discussions and debate in United States of America, Cuba and worldwide. My research question is why was the embargo imposed and how it affected the foreign policy and the people of Cuba and my argument is to show how the government and the people of Cuba were able to survive despite the embargo. this dissertation paper aims at analyzing the impact of US Embargo on Cuba and the Cuban people. this dissertation is divided into four chapters. Chapter1looks at Cuba’s history, all the events that took place which influenced the imposition of the embargo. How the political decision to choose a socialist system taken by the revolution was influential in the US decision to establish an embargo on Cuba. In the second chapter, it examines the Cuba relations with other countries like the Soviet Union, venezuela and their relationship with other organizations how these factors were instrumental in helping Cuba survive the US Embargo. Also it directly looks at the US Embargo on Cuba and factors that influenced the US policy on Cuba. the third Chapter addresses the Economy of Cuba;Education and the Health Systems of Cuba, in terms of how they were affected by the US Embargo and how the Cuban government, their leaders and the people was able to keep the economy and more so their education and health system afloat despite the US Embargo. the forth chapter looked at the developments under Raul Castro including his major decisions, President Obama policy towards Cuba and the Embargo presently today. Following a comparatively aspect and an extensive study of the US Embargo on Cuba, it can be concluded that the United States of America motivation for establishing an Embargo and it objectives of having an Embargo on Cuba, did not succeed in the way that the US Government was hoping for. Objectives:Persistent olfactory dysfunction(Od)following loss of smell associated with SARS-Cov-2 infection is a major feature of long *** on the prevalence of persistent Od predominantly rely on self-reported olfactory *** studies have tracked longitudinal rates of recovery using psychophysical assessment among patients presenting for evaluation of persistent Od beyond a window of acute *** anchored in standardized testing methods are needed to counsel patients who fail to acutely regain their sense of *** study aims to quantify the degree of persistent Od in post-COvId-19 patients who experience subjective and psychophysical ***:We grouped participants presenting for Od evaluation into cohorts based on both subjective and psychophysical olfactory status at a baseline assessment and assessed their olfactory abilities with a visual analogue scale and the Sniffin'Sticks extended test at baseline and 1-year time *** had confirmed a history of COvId-19 by lab evaluation or clinical diagnosis if lab evaluation was not ***:Baseline olfactory evaluation was completed by 122 participants,53 of whom completed the 1-year follow-up *** participants presenting with perceived Od,74.5%had confirmed psychophysical Od at baseline,with 55.1%at 1-year *** had reliable trends in self-rated versus psychophysically tested olfactory function at both time *** total threshold,discrimination,and identification(tdI)score improved by+3.25 points in the cohort with psychophysical Od(p=0.0005),with this improvement largely attributable to an increase in median threshold scores(+2.75 points;p=0.0004).Conclusions:Od persists in a significant number of patients who fail to acutely recovery their sense of smell after COvId-19,with many demonstrating lingering deficits at *** in threshold,but not discrimination or identification,most significantly mediate improvement

transition metal carbides and nitrides(MXenes)nanosheets are attractive two-dimensional(2d)materials,but they suffer from oxidation/degradation issues during storage and/or applications due to their sensitivity to water and *** the great research progress,the exact oxidation kinetics of ti_(3)C_(2)t_(x)(MXene)and their final products after oxidation are not fully ***,we systematically tracked the oxidation process of few-layer ti_(3)C_(2)t_(x) nanosheets in an aqueous solution at room temperature over several *** also studied the oxidation effects on the electrocatalytic properties of ti_(3)C_(2)t_(x) for hydrogen evolution reaction and found that the overpotential to achieve a current density of 10 mA cm^(-2)increases from 0.435 to 0.877 v after three weeks of degradation,followed by improvement to stabilized values of around 0.40 v after eight *** results suggest that severely oxidized MXene could be a promising candidate for designing efficient *** to our detailed experimental characterization and theoretical calculations,unlike previous studies,black titanium oxide is formed as the final product in addition to white ti(Iv)oxide and disordered carbons after the complete oxidation of ti_(3)C_(2)t_(x).this work presents significant advancements in better understanding of 2d ti_(3)C_(2)t_(x)(MXene)oxidation and enhances the prospects of this material for various applications.

Ultimate Strength Prediction of Carbon/Epoxy tensile Specimens from Acoustic Emission data

the objective of this paper was to predict the residual strength of post impacted carbon/epoxy composite laminates using an online acoustic emission （AE） monitoring and artificial neural networks （ANN）. the laminates were made from eight-layered carbon （in woven mat form） with epoxy as the binding medium by hand lay-up technique and cured at a pressure of 100 kg/cm2 under room temperature using a 30 ton capacity compression molding machine for 24 h. 21 tensile specimens （AStM d3039 standard） were cut from the cross ply laminates. 16 specimens were subjected to impact load from three different heights using a Fractovis Plus drop impact tester. Both impacted and non-impacted specimens were subjected to uniaxial tension under the acoustic emission monitoring using a 100 kN FIE servo hydraulic universal testing machine. the dominant AE parameters such as counts, energy, duration, rise time and amplitude are recorded during monitoring. Cumulative counts corresponding to the amplitude ranges obtained during the tensile testing are used to train the network. this network can be used to predict the failure load of a similar specimen subjected to uniaxial tension under acoustic emission monitoring for certain percentage of the average failure load.

Sex development anomalies represent a group of congenital pathologies in which chromosomal, gonadal and anatomical sex differentiation is atypical. the aim of our study was to use molecular biology techniques to elucidate sex in cases of anomalies of sexual differentiation in Burkina Faso. this cross-sectional study took place from March 2023 to June 2023. Oral and blood samples were collected respectively using sterile swabs and stored on Swab Kits and NUCLEIcardtM (https://***/product-ranges/nucleic-card/) were used to determine gonosome profiles. Extraction was carried out using the dNA Swap solution Kit and the dNA IQ System Kit, and a PowerPlex? 21 kit (Promega) for amplification. the Applied Biosystems 9700 thermal cycler was used for PCR followed by 36 cm capillary electrophoresis in the Applied Biosystems 3130 prism sequencer. Sequence files were analyzed using GeneMapper IdX v. 3.2 software. Seven (07) patients were registered during the study period. there were 4 cases of XX dSd or 46, XX dSd and 3 cases of XY dSd or 46, XY dSd. the median age of our patients was 16 years. Civilian sex was male in 4 cases and female in 3. the most frequent reason for consultation was micropenis in 3 cases, followed by primary amenorrhea and sex ambiguity. there were 03 cases of discrepancy between genetic sex and civil sex. the accessibility of molecular diagnosis is little known to clinicians. XX dSds or 46, XX dSds were the most frequent (4/7) in our study. the problem facing this situation is early diagnosis to help prevent complications in Burkina Faso.
