Conve.sion of fore.t land to farmland in the.Hyrcanian fore.t of northe.n Iran incre.se. the.nutrie.t input, e.pe.ially the.phosphorus（P） nutrie.t, thus impacting the.wate. quality. Mode.ing the.e.fe.t of fore.t loss on surface.wate. quality provide. valuable.information for fore.t manage.e.t. This study pre.icts the.future.impacts of fore.t loss be.we.n 2010 and 2040 on P loading in the.Tajan Rive. wate.she. at the.sub-wate.she. le.e.. To unde.stand drive.s of the.land cove., we.use. Land Change.Mode.e.（LCM） combining with the.Soil Wate. Asse.sme.t Tool（SWAT） mode. to simulate.the.impacts of land use.change.on P loading. We.characte.ize. priority manage.e.t are.s for locating compre.e.sive.and cost-e.fe.tive.manage.e.t practice. at the.sub-wate.she. le.e.. Re.ults show that agricultural e.pansion has le. to an inte.se.de.ore.tation. During the.future.pe.iod 2010–2040, fore.t are. is e.pe.te. to de.re.se.by 34,739 hm^2. And the.are.s of pasture.and agriculture.are.e.pe.te. to incre.se.by 7668 and 27,071 hm^2, re.pe.tive.y. In most sub-wate.she.s, P pollution will be.inte.sifie. with the.incre.se.in de.ore.tation by the.ye.r 2040. And the.P conce.tration is e.pe.te. to incre.se.from 0.08 to 2.30 mg/L in all of sub-wate.she.s by the.ye.r 2040. It should be.note. that the.phosphorous conce.tration e.ce.ds the.Ame.ican Public He.lth Association′s wate. quality standard of 0.2 mg/L for P in drinking wate. in both curre.t and future.sce.arios in the.Tajan Rive. wate.she.. Only 30% of sub-wate.she.s will comply with the.wate. quality standards by the.ye.r 2040. Cranbe.ry (Vaccinium macrocarpon Ait.) is an ammophilous plant grown on acid soils (pH 4.0 - 5.5). e.e.e.tal sulfur is commonly applie. at a re.omme.de. rate.of 1120 kg S ha−1 pe. pH unit to acidify cranbe.ry soils, pote.tially impacting the.plant mine.al nutrition. The.ge.e.al re.omme.dation may not fit all conditions e.counte.e. in the.fie.d. Our obje.tive.was to de.e.op an e.uation to pre.ict the.sulfur re.uire.e.t to re.ch pHwate. of 4.2 to tackle.nitrification in acidic cranbe.ry soils varying in initial pH value., and to me.sure.the.e.fe.t of e.e.e.tal sulfur on the.mine.al nutrition and the.pe.formance.of cranbe.ry crops. A 3-yr e.pe.ime.t was de.igne. to te.t the.e.fe.t of e.e.e.tal sulfur on soil and tissue.te.ts and on be.ry yie.d and quality. Four S tre.tme.ts (0, 250, 500 and 1000 kg S ha−1) we.e.e.tablishe. on thre. duplicate. site. during two conse.utive.ye.rs. We.ran soil, foliar tissue. be.ry tissue.te.ts, and me.sure. be.ry yie.d, size. anthocyanin conte.t (TAcy), Brix, and firmne.s. Nutrie.ts we.e.e.pre.se. as ce.te.e. log ratios to re.le.t nutrie.t inte.actions. Re.ults we.e.analyze. using a mixe. mode.. Soil Ca de.re.se. while.soil Mn and S incre.se. significantly (p ≤ 0.05). Sulfur showe. no significant e.fe.ts on nutrie.t balance. in uprights. The.S impacte. ne.ative.y be.ry B balance. and positive.y be.ry Mn and S balance..
