Evaluation of three sets of advanced backcrosses of eggplant with wild relatives from different gene pools under low N fertilization conditions

The development of new cultivars with improved nitrogen use efficiency(NUE)is key for implementing sustainable agriculture *** wild relatives(CWRs)provide valuable genetic resources for breeding programs aimed at achieving this *** this study,three eggplant(Solanum melongena)accessions together with their advanced backcrosses(ABs;BC3 to BC5 generations)were evaluated for 22 morpho-agronomic,physiological,and NUE traits under low nitrogen(LN)fertilization *** ABs were developed with introgressions from the wild relatives Solanum insanum,Solanum dasyphyllum,and Solanum *** AB population comprised a total of 25,59,and 59 genotypes,respectively,with overall donor wild relative genome coverage percentages of 58.8%,46.3%,and 99.2%.The three *** recurrent parents were also evaluated under control(normal)N *** of N fertilization in the parents resulted in decreased chlorophyll content-related traits,aerial biomass,stem diameter,and yield and increased NUE,nitrogen uptake efficiency(NUpE),and nitrogen utilization efficiency(NUtE).However,the decrease in yield was moderate,ranging between 62.6%and 72.6%.A high phenotypic variation was observed within each of the three sets of ABs under LN conditions,with some individuals displaying improved transgressive characteristics over the recurrent *** the single primer enrichment technology 5 k probes platform for high-throughput genotyping,we observed a variable but high degree of recurrent parent genome recovery in the ABs attributable to the lines recombination,allowing the successful identification of 16 quantitative trait loci(QTL).different allelic effects were observed for the introgressed QTL *** candidate genes were identified in the QTL regions associated with plant growth,yield,fruit size,and NUE-related *** results show that eggplant materials with introgressions from CWRs can result in a dramatic impact in eggplant breedi

Effect of the density of Molten Metal on the Raining Phenomenon in Horizontal Centrifugal Casting

In this work the influence of the density of the molten metal on the emergence of the raining phenomenon in the horizontal centrifugal casting process is numerically studied. Transient 2d numerical simulations were carried out using Computational Fluid dynamics software. Three molten metals with different density, namely aluminum, iron and lead, and three angular frequencies, namely 50, 66 and 77 rad/s were considered. It is found that the density of the molten metal significantly affects the emergence, transient or permanent, of the rain phenomenon. However, the magnitude and duration of the rain phenomenon depend on the angular frequency of the rotating mold. Likewise, since gravitational forces affect the metal according to its density, the value of the critical rotation speed of the mold is also affected.

New therapeutic strategy with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for refractory hepatopulmonary syndrome after liver transplant: A case report

Tree height (H) in a natural stand or forest plantation is a fundamental variable in management, and the use of mathematical expressions that estimate H as a function of diameter at breast height (d) or variables at the stand level is a valuable support tool in forest inventories. The objective was to fit and propose a generalized H-d model for Pinus montezumae and Pinus pseudostrobus established in forest plantations of Nuevo San Juan Parangaricutiro, Michoacan, Mexico. Using nonlinear least squares (NLS), 10 generalized H-d models were fitted to 883 and 1226 pairs of H-d data from Pinus montezumae and Pinus pseudostrobus, respectively. The best model was refitted with the maximum likelihood mixed effects model (MEM) approach by including the site as a classification variable and a known variance structure. The Wang and Tang equation was selected as the best model with NLS;the MEM with an additive effect on two of its parameters and an exponential variance function improved the fit statistics for Pinus montezumae and Pinus pseudostrobus, respectively. The model validation showed equality of means among the estimates for both species and an independent subsample. The calibration of the MEM at the plot level was efficient and might increase the applicability of these results. The inclusion of dominant height in the MEM approach helped to reduce bias in the estimates and also to better explain the variability among plots.

Acute liver failure secondary to acute antibody mediated rejection after compatible liver transplant: A case report

Characterization of Cd1-xZnxTe（0≤x≤1） Nanolayers Grown by Atomic Layer deposition on GaSb and GaAs（001） Oriented Substrates

ZnTe, CdTe, and the ternary alloy CdZnTe are important semiconductor materials used widely for the detection of an important range of electromagnetic radiation as gamma ray and X-ray. Although, recently these materials have acquired renewed importance due to the new explored nanolayer properties of modern devices. In addition, as shown in this work they can be grown using uncomplicated synthesis techniques based on the deposition in vapour phase of the elemental precursors. This work presents the results obtained from the deposition of nanolayers of these materials using the precursor vapour on GaAs and GaSb (001) substrates. This growth technique, extensively known as atomic layer deposition (ALd), allows the layers growth with nanometric dimension. The main results presented in this work are the used growth parameters and the results of the structural characterization of the layers by the means of Raman spectroscopy measurements. Raman scattering shows the peak corresponding to longitudinal optical (LO)-ZnTe, which is weak and slightly redshift in comparison with that reported for the ZnTe bulk at 210 cm^-1. For the case of the CdTe nanolayer, Raman spectra presented the LO-CdTe peak, which is indicative of the successful growth of the layer. Its weak and slightly redshift in comparison with that reported for the CdTe bulk can be related with the nanometric characteristic of this layer. The performed high-resolution X-ray diffraction (HR-XRd) measurement allows to study some important characteristics such as the crystallinity of the grown layer. In addition, the HR-XRd measurement suggests that the crystalline quality has dependence on the growth temperature.
