Comparison of the Minimum Bounding Rectangle and Minimum Circumscribed Ellipse of Rain Cells from TRMM

Based on the TRMM dataset, this paper compares the applicability of the improved MCE(minimum circumscribed ellipse), MBR(minimum bounding rectangle), and DIA(direct indexing area) methods for rain cell fitting. These three methods can reflect the geometric characteristics of clouds and apply geometric parameters to estimate the real dimensions of rain cells. The MCE method shows a major advantage in identifying the circumference of rain cells. The circumference of rain cells identified by MCE in most samples is smaller than that identified by DIA and MBR, and more similar to the observed rain cells. The area of rain cells identified by MBR is relatively robust. For rain cells composed of many pixels(N> 20), the overall performance is better than that of MCE, but the contribution of MBR to the best identification results,which have the shortest circumference and the smallest area, is less than that of MCE. The DIA method is best suited to small rain cells with a circumference of less than 100 km and an area of less than 120 km^(2), but the overall performance is mediocre. The MCE method tends to achieve the highest success at any angle, whereas there are fewer “best identification”results from DIA or MBR and more of the worst ones in the along-track direction and cross-track direction. Through this comprehensive comparison, we conclude that MCE can obtain the best fitting results with the shortest circumference and the smallest area on behalf of the high filling effect for all sizes of rain cells.

Microwave Land Surface Emissivity(MLSE)over China under both clear and cloudy sky conditions was retrieved using measurements of recalibrated microwave brightness temperatures(Tbs)from Fengyun-3B Microwave Radiation Imager(FY-3B MWRI),combined with cloud properties derived from Himawari-8 Advanced Himawari Imager(AHI)*** contributions from cloud particles and atmospheric gases to the upwelling Tbs at the top of atmosphere were calculated and removed in radiative *** MLSEs at horizontal polarizations at 10.65,18.7,and 36.5 GHz during 7 July 2015 to 30 June 2019 over China showed high values in the southeast vegetated area and low values in the northwest barren,or sparsely vegetated,*** maximum values were found in the belt area of the Qinling-Taihang Mountains and the eastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,which is highly consistent with MLSEs derived from *** demonstrates that the measurements of FY-3B MWRI Tbs,including its calibration and validation,are reliable,and the retrieval algorithm developed in this study works *** variations of MLSE in China are mainly driven by the combined effects of vegetation,rainfall,and snow *** tropical and southern forest regions,the seasonal variation of MLSE is small due to the enhancement from vegetation and the suppression from *** the boreal area,snow causes a significant decrease of MLSE at 36.5 GHz in ***,the MLSE at lower frequencies experiences less *** the desert region in Xinjiang,increases of MLSEs at all frequencies are observed with increasing snow cover.

The approach of available transfer capability (denoted as ATC) incorporating wind generation has been paid very high attention since the development of wind generation. Based on the maximum function, this paper presents an ATC model. The characteristic of the new model is twofold. First, it considers wind turbines connected to power system and static security of power system simultaneously. Second, it is a system of semismooth equations and can be solved easily. By using the smoothing strategy, a smoothing Newton method is adopted for solving the proposed new ATC model. Numerical simulation results of the IEEE 30-bus and 118-bus system show that the new model and algorithm are feasible and effective. The impact of wind turbines connected to power system on ATC is also analyzed.

Occurrence of human pathogenic bacteria carrying antibiotic resistance genes revealed by metagenomic approach: A case study from an aquatic environment

Antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs), human pathogenic bacteria(HPB), and HPB carrying ARGs are public issues that pose a high risk to aquatic environments and public health. Their diversity and abundance in water, intestine, and sediments of shrimp culture pond were investigated using metagenomic approach. A total of 19 classes of ARGs, 52 HPB species, and 7 species of HPB carrying ARGs were found. Additionally, 157, 104, and 86 subtypes of ARGs were detected in shrimp intestine, pond water, and sediment samples, respectively. In all the samples, multidrug resistance genes were the highest abundant class of ARGs. The dominant HPB was Enterococcus faecalis in shrimp intestine, Vibrio parahaemolyticus in sediments, and Mycobacterium yongonense in water, respectively. Moreover, E. faecalis(contig Intestine_364647)and Enterococcus faecium(contig Intestine_80272) carrying efr A, efr B and ANT(6)-Ia were found in shrimp intestine, Desulfosaricina cetonica(contig Sediment_825143) and Escherichia coli(contig Sediment_188430) carrying mex B and APH(3′)-IIa were found in sediments, and Laribacter hongkongensis(contig Water_478168 and Water_369477), Shigella sonnei(contig Water_880246),and Acinetobacter baumannii(contig Water_525520) carrying sul1, sul2, ere A, qac H, OXA-21, and mph D were found in pond water. Mobile genetic elements(MGEs) analysis indicated that horizontal gene transfer(HGT) of integrons, insertion sequences, and plasmids existed in shrimp intestine, sediment, and water samples, and the abundance of integrons was higher than that of other two MGEs. The results suggested that HPB carrying ARGs potentially existed in aquatic environments, and that these contributed to the environment and public health risk evaluation.

Flexible bidirectional self-powered photodetector with significantly reduced volume and accelerated response speed based on hydrogel and lift-off GaN-based nanowires

Due to the wide range of potential applications for next-generation multi-functional devices,the flexible selfpowered photodetector(PD)with polarity-switchable behavior is essential but very challenging to be ***,a wearable bidirectional self-powered PD based on detached(Al,Ga)N and(In,Ga)N nanowires has been proposed and demonstrated *** from the photovoltage-competing dynamics across(Al,Ga)N and(In,Ga)N nanowire photoelectrodes,such PD can generate the positive(33.3 mA W−1)and negative(-0.019 mA W−1)photo-responsivity under ultraviolet(UV)and visible illumination,respectively,leading to the bidirectional photocurrent *** to the introduction of quasi solid-state hydrogel,the PD can work without the liquid-electrolyte,thus remarkably reducing the volume from about 482 cm3 to only 0.18 ***,the use of hydrogel is found to enhance response speed in the UV range by reducing the response time for more than 95%,which is mainly attributed to the increased open circuit potential and reduced ion transport *** the GaN connecting segment is pretty thin,the piezoelectric charges generated by stress are proposed to have only a limited effect on the photocurrent ***,both the stable on-off switching characteristics and photocurrent densities can still be achieved after being bent 400 *** an excellent flexibility,this work creates opportunities for technological applications of bidirectional photocurrent PDs in flexible optoelectronic devices,e.g.,wearable intelligent sensors.

Characterizing the antibiotic resistance genes in a river catchment： Influence of anthropogenic activities

Previous studies on environmental antibiotics resistance genes（ARGs） have focused on the pollution sources such as wastewater treatment plants, aquaculture and livestock farms,etc. Few of them had addressed this issue in a regional scale such as river catchment. Hence,the occurrence and abundances of 23 ARGs were investigated in surface water samples collected from 38 sites which located from the river source to estuary of the Beijiang *** them, 11 ARGs were frequently detected in this region and 5 ARGs（sul Ⅰ, sul Ⅱ, tet B,tet C, and tet W） were selected for their distribution pattern analysis. The abundances of the selected ARGs were higher in the upstream（8.70 × 10^6 copies/ng DNA） and downstream areas（3.17 × 10^6 copies/ng DNA） than those in the midstream areas（1.23 × 10^6 copies/ng DNA）, which was positively correlated to the population density and number of pollution sources. Pollution sources of ARGs along the Beijiang River not only had a great impact on the abundances and diversity, but also on the distribution of specific ARGs in the water samples. Both sul Ⅰ and sul Ⅱ were likely originated from aquaculture farms and animal farms,tet W gene was possibly associated with the mining/metal melting industry and the electric waste disposal and tet C gene was commonly found in the area with multiple pollution ***, the abundance of tet B was not particularly related to anthropogenic impacts. These findings highlight the influence of pollution sources and density of population on the distribution and dissemination of ARGs at a regional scale.

针对用户侧分布式储能成本较高、利用率低、运营模式单一等问题,提出了一种兼具电能自营和储能共享模式的储能聚合商(ESA)自营共享电能交易方法,ESA分别从与电网公司、用户的电能交易中获益。基于分时电价和用户负荷预测,建立ESA控制储能充放电的日前优化模型,以ESA与电网之间的交易成本最小化为目标,获得ESA日前各时段的充放电电量,并将其作为ESA实时优化和定价的储能控制策略。以最大化ESA效益为主目标、最大化用户日效益为从目标,以内部电价为控制变量、用户用电量为状态变量,以内部电价限价、用电刚性需求等为约束,建立一种基于主从博弈的电能交易实时优化模型。算例仿真表明:ESA对日前储能充放电的决策获得了最低购电成本;主从博弈优化的电能交易决策了内部电价,提升了ESA和用户的经济效益。ESA自营共享电能交易方法是电力系统在共享经济模式下的有效尝试。
