ANTIOXIDANT DEPLETION AND OIT VALUES OF HIGH IMPACT PP STRANDS

The service life of a polyolefin product depends to large extent on the type and amount of the antioxidants added. During the manufacturing,storage and use of the product the antioxidants are depleted by physical processes and chemical degradation,and this impairs its long-term *** initial and in-use oxidation stability is often characterized and monitored by the measurement of the oxidative induction time(OIT),and service life predictions are based on the rate of decrease of the OIT *** study the correlation between the OIT value and the actual antioxidant concentration,eight random arrays of high-impact polypropylene(PP)strands stabilized using six different antioxidant packages(composed of Irgafos 168,Irganox 1010 and 1330,Chimassorb 944)were immersed in hot water(80℃and 90℃)and oven aged in air (80℃)for more than two years,and the change of OIT values and antioxidant concentrations was *** phosphitic and phenolic stabilizers water immersion is generally a more critical aging condition than oven aging in air,while for the hindered amine stabilizers(HAS)the opposite was *** expected,a linear correlation between OIT values and concentrations was found for the'classical'package of phosphitic and phenolic *** the case of Irganox 1330,the change of the OIT values during aging was considerably slower than the change of *** when zero concentration was reached according to the vanishing peak height in the chromatogram,a considerable OIT value was still *** may be due to unidentified degradation products of Irganox 1330 which still act as antioxidants in the long *** of HAS(Chimassorb 944)seems to enhance the initial OIT of stabilized phenolic samples and the long-term effectiveness of the phenolic stabilization under air oven aging ***,the marked long-term effectiveness of the HAS itself and the slow change with time of the concentration were not detectable by OIT measurements

In this paper we present how nonlinear stochastic Itˆo differential equations arising in the modelling of perturbed rigid bodies can be solved numerically in such a way that the solution evolves on the correct *** this end,we formulate an approach based on Runge-Kutta–Munthe-Kaas(RKMK)schemes for ordinary differ-ential equations on ***,we provide a proof of the mean-square convergence of this stochastic version of the RKMK schemes applied to the rigid body problem and illustrate the effectiveness of our proposed schemes by demonstrating the structure preservation of the stochastic RKMK schemes in contrast to the stochastic Runge-Kutta methods.

目的探讨在奥地利急性照护医院对日常收集数据二次使用进行护理敏感结局分析的挑战。方法采用汇聚平行混合方法研究设计。抽取32所奥地利综合性急性照护医院的护理管理人员进行具有代表性的定量调查,对11名护理质量管理专家进行半结构化访谈。对量性和质性研究的结果分别进行报告和分析,然后在讨论中综合分析。结果在接受调查的奥地利医院中,平均76%的护理文书已经电子化。但现有护理资料很少二次使用,如用于护理敏感性结局分析。主要原因包括4个方面:医院通常没有将常规数据进行二次使用的数据策略;医院在使用统一的标准化护理术语方面不完善,尤其是在护理评估方面;日常收集的护理数据往往正确性和完整性不足;护理敏感结局的数据通常以特定的报告形式收集,而不是纳入日常记录文件。结论关于护理数据二次使用进行护理敏感结局分析的可能性,奥地利医院对其认识水平仍处于初级阶段。因此,护理人员和管理者应接受培训,了解如何收集和处理护理数据以进行护理敏感结局分析。进一步的研究可考虑确定对护理数据二次使用进行结局分析的决策过程的影响因素。

Chronotropic incompetence is more frequent in obese adolescents and relates to systemic inflammation and exercise intolerance

Background:Adults with obesity may display disturbed cardiac chronotropic responses during cardiopulmonary exercise testing,which relates to poor cardiometabolic health and an increased risk for adverse cardiovascular *** is unknown whether cardiac chronotropic incompetence(CI)during maximal exercise is already present in obese adolescents and,if so,how that relates to cardiometabolic ***:Sixty-nine obese adolescents(body mass index standard deviation score=2.23±0.32,age=14.1±1.2 years;mean±SD)and 29lean adolescents(body mass index standard deviation score=-0.16±0.84,age=14.0±1.5 years)performed a maximal cardiopulmonary exercise testing from which indicators for peak performance were *** resting heart rate and peak heart rate were used to calculate the maximal chronotropic response ***(lipid profile,glycemic control,inflammation,and leptin)was studied in fasted blood samples and during an oral glucose tolerance test within obese *** analyses were applied to examine associations between the presence of CI and blood or exercise capacity parameters,respectively,within obese ***:CI was prevalent in 32 out of 69 obese adolescents(46%)and 3 out of 29 lean adolescents(10%).C-reactive protein was significantly higher in obese adolescents with CI compared to obese adolescents without CI(p=0.012).Furthermore,peak oxygen uptake and peak cycling power output were significantly reduced(p<0.05)in obese adolescents with CI *** adolescents without *** chronotropic index was independently related to blood total cholesterol(standardized coefficientβ=-0.332;p=0.012)and C-reactive protein concentration(standardized coefficientβ=-0.269;p=0.039).Conclusion:CI is more common in the current cohort of obese adolescents,and is related to systemic inflammation and exercise intolerance.

THERMOCHROMIC EFFECTS OF LEUCO DYES STUDIED IN POLYPROPYLENE

A series of thermochromic polypropylene foils were prepared by embedding various leuco dye-developer-solvent systems in the polymer matrix. Bisphenol A, laurylgallate, ethylgallate and p-hydroxybenzoic acid methyl ester were used as developers, crystal violet lactone and 3,3-bis-（1-n-butyl-2-methyl-3-indolyl）-phthalide as dyes and l-octanoic acid methyl ester as solvent. The molar ratio between the three components of the investigated leuco dye-developer-solvent systems was kept constant. All obtained polypropylene foils exhibit an excellent thermochromic behavior. The foils, prepared by extrusion technology, switch from color to colorless with increasing temperature. The influence of molecular structure of the developer on the intensity of the colored state and the influence of a developer-surfactant complex on the resulting thermochromic properties were investigated. The results are presented and discussed in detail according to a molecular model suggesting that the ring-opening process of the leuco dye is triggered by the formation of dye-developer complexes via H-bondings.

Characterization of Fusobacterium nucleatum ATCC 23726 adhesins involved in strain-specific attachment to Porphyromonas gingivalis

Bacterial adherence is an essential virulence factor in pathogenesis and infection. Fusobacterium nucleatum has a central role in oral biofilm architecture by acting as a bridge between early Gram-positive and late Gram-negative colonizers that do not otherwise adhere to each other. In this study, we survey a key adherence interaction of F. nucleatum with Porphyromonas gingivalis, and present evidence that multiple fusobacterial adhesins have a role in the attachment of F. nucleatum ATCC 23726 to P. gingivalis in a highly strain-dependent manner. Interaction between these species displayed varying sensitivities to arginine, galactose and lactose. Arginine was found to hamper coaggregation by at least 62% and up to 89% with several P. gingivalis strains and galactose inhibition ranged from no inhibition up to 58% with the same P. gingivalis strains. Lactose consistently inhibited F. nucleatum interaction with these P. gingivalis strains ranging from 40% to 56% decrease in coaggregation. Among the adhesins involved are the previously described Fap2 and surprisingly, RadD, which was described in an earlier study for its function in attachment of F. nucleatum to Gram-positive species. We also provide evidence for the presence of at least one additional adhesin that is sensitive to arginine but unlike Fap2 and RadD, is not a member of the autotransporter family type of fusobacterial large outer membrane proteins. The strain-specific binding profile of multiple fusobacterial adhesins to P. gingivalis highlights the heterogeneity and complexity of interspecies interactions in the oral cavity.

Exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals perturbs lipid metabolism and circadian rhythms

A growing body of evidence indicates that exposure to environmental chemicals can contribute to the etiology of obesity by inappropriately stimulating adipogenesis as well as perturbing lipid metabolism and energy balance. One potential mechanism by which chemical exposure can influence lipid metabolism is through disturbance of circadian rhythms, endogenously-driven cycles of roughly 24 hr in length that coordinate biochemical, physiological, and behavioral processes in all organisms. Here we show for the first time that exposure to endocrine disrupting compounds（EDCs）, including the pesticide tributyltin, two commercial flame retardants, and a UV-filter chemical found in sunscreens,can perturb both circadian clocks and lipid metabolism in vertebrates. Exposure of developing zebrafish to EDCs affects core clock activity and leads to a remarkable increase in lipid accumulation that is reminiscent of the effects observed for longdaysin, a known disruptor of circadian rhythms. Our data reveal a novel obesogenic mechanism of action for environmental chemicals, an observation which warrants further research. Because circadian clocks regulate a wide variety of physiological processes, identification of environmental chemicals capable of perturbing these systems may provide important insights into the development of environmentally-induced metabolic disease.

Interaction Dynamics in AEC Global Teamwork

Architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) global project teamwork is communication intensive and relies heavily on synchronous and asynchronous information and collaboration technologies (ICT). We explore in this paper how an asynchronous ICT, called ThinkTank, reshaped the work practice of design-construction global teams, and how the interaction with this ICT reshaped the purpose and benefits of its use. ThinkTank is a web-based asynchronous collaboration and discussion forum. We introduce the influence diffusion model (IDM) that formalizes the process of identifying the influence of people, messages, and terms mathematically. Discovering who the influence leaders in project teams are can be beneficial and critical from a corporate management perspective, since they can guide or motivate the team towards successful actions and outcomes. We present the ThinkTank-IDM integrated system and its validation with a testbed of 53 AEC global team project archived in ThinkTank over 8 years.

RESPONSE OF WHEAT COMPOSITE CROSS POPULATIONS TO DISEASE AND CLIMATE VARIATION OVER 13 GENERATIONS

Since the F_(5)(2005),three winter wheat composite cross populations(CCPs)based on germplasm specifically suitable for low-input conditions were subjected to natural selection under organic and conventional *** the F_(6),each CCP was divided into two parallel populations(12 CCPs in total)and maintained continuously until *** used modern cultivars with different disease susceptibilities were grown alongside to assess the agronomic performance of the *** organically managed CCPs were comparable in yield and foliar disease resistance to two continuously used reference cultivars,Achat and *** contrast,under conventional management the *** outyielded the CCPs(Achat was not tested),highlighting the importance of parental cultivar choice for specific management *** CCPs were found to be moderately resistant to brown rust and even to the newly emerged stripe rust races prevalent in Europe since *** between the CCPs were mainly due to parental genetic background and were significant in the first five generations,but were no longer so in the last five *** addition,these differences tended to vary depending on the experimental year and the environmental stresses *** conclusion,the CCPs despite being derived from older cultivars are able to compete with more recently released reference cultivars under organic farming practices and represent a dynamic germplasm resource.
