Coronavirus disease-19(COVID-19)has become a pandemic,being a global health concern since december 2019 when the first cases were *** acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2,the COVID-19 causal agent,is aβ-coronavirus that has on its surface the spike protein,which helps in its virulence and pathogenicity towards the ***,effective and applicable diagnostic methods to this disease come as an important tool for the management of the *** use of the molecular technique PCR,which allows the detection of the viral RNA through nasopharyngeal swabs,is considered the gold standard test for the diagnosis of ***,serological methods,such as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays and rapid tests,are able to detect severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2-specific immunoglobulin A,immunoglobulin M,and immunoglobulin G in positive patients,being important alternative techniques for the diagnostic establishment and epidemiological *** the other hand,reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification also proved to be a useful diagnostic method for the infection,mainly because it does not require a sophisticated laboratory apparatus and has similar specificity and sensitivity to ***,imaging exams provide findings of typical pneumonia,such as the ground-glass opacity radiological pattern on chest computed tomography scanning,which along with laboratory tests assist in the diagnosis of COVID-19.

Unsupervised Methods to Classify Real Data from Offshore Wells

In the petroleum industry, sensor data and information are valuable. It can detect, predict and help to understand processes during oil production. Offshore wells require more attention. Once workovers, maintenance, and intervention are more costly than onshore wells. Coupling data-driven methods for well-monitoring applications, two unsupervised classification methods, one statistical and one machine learning-based, are proposed to detect anomalies in well data. The novelty is presented by applying a Control Chart using a 3 standard deviations window for the Permanent Downhole Gauge Pressure sensor (P-PDG), and a Fuzzy C-means algorithm to classify data from pressure and temperature sensors in an offshore field. The main goal in structuring a classified data set is using it to train machine learning models to monitor and manage petroleum production. Modeling applications for early fault detection systems in offshore production, based on real-time data from production sensors, require classified data sets. Then, labeling two target classes: “normal” and “fault” is a key step to be implemented in order to train the machine learning models. Therefore, this paper applies two methodologies to classify a real-time data set to create a training data set divided into “normal” and “fault” classes. Thus, it is possible to visualize the abnormal events pointed out by the methodologies and compare how sensible is each method. BACKGROUND Breast milk is the primary source of nutrition for *** babies frequently need nutritional support from Human Milk *** bacterial species of the genus Enterococcus are part of the microbiota of healthy donors,they may contaminate samples of pumped breast *** To identify and characterize the bacterial virulence and resistance in samples isolated from the nipple-areolar region,hands,and breast milk aliquots from donors at the Human Milk Bank of Municipal Hospital EsauMatos in the city of Vitória da Conquista,Bahia State,*** The personal hygiene and sanitation of donors were analyzed with the aim of identifying possible reasons for contamination of pumped *** samples as well as aliquots of unpasteurized and pasteurized milk from 30 participants were *** Enterococcus *** underwent a disk diffusion susceptibility test and molecular biology techniques to determine resistance and virulence *** Enterococcus *** identified in 30%of donors(n=9),and 11 specimens were *** to tetracycline was highly prevalent,being detectable in 63%of the isolates(n=7)and followed by intermediate sensitivity to ciprofloxacin,observed in 27%of the specimens(n=3).The efaA gene was found in 63%(n=7)of the isolates,while the ace gene was detected in 27%(n=3).CONCLUSION This study illustrates the importance of microbiological monitoring by Human Milk Banks and the need for alternatives to prevent the presence of Enterococcus *** hospital settings.

Protective Effect of <i>Camellia sinensis</i>on Methotrexate-Induced Small Intestinal Mucositis in Mice

Background: Green tea has been used as a daily beverage for several years. Anti-inflammatory effect of tea has also been depicted in different papers. Therefore we had set forward this study to examine the potential anti- inflammatory activity of green tea in small intestine mucositis experimental models. Aims: Evaluation of anti- inflammatory effects of green tea on mice. Materials and Methods: Green tea decoction (20%) was prepared by soaking 20 g of green tea in 100 ml boiled water separately, soaked for 2 minutes and thereafter filtered. In- flammatory activity was induced using methotrexate (2.75 g/kg/24 h sc), and a protecting effect of mucositis con- dition was investigated by vitamin E and Camellia sinensis decoction. Study design: An experimental study was approved by an Animal Ethical Commitee. Results: Green tea decoction (20%) has shown significant anti-in- flammatory effects (65% and 70%) on methotrexate-induced acute mucositis model. In villous atrophy Green tea decoction (10% and 20%) has shown no protecting action at different intestinal segments. But at intestinal crypt hyperplasia, green tea decoction has shown 65.74%, as compared to mucositis group. An increase of apoptotic bodies were acchieved at MTX group, CS reduced this occurrence. Conclusion: Taken together, our data indi- cate that green tea (20%) has a potential anti-inflammatory compared vitamin E antioxidant action and cor- roborates with the current trend of tea being promoted as “health drink”. However more pharmacological and biochemical assays is necessary to elucidate mechanisms.

Extreme Rainfall Events over the Amazon Basin Produce Significant Quantities of Rain Relative to the Rainfall Climatology

Although much effort has been made to characterize and understand extreme rainfall’s causes and effects, little is known about their frequency and intensity. Moreover, knowledge about their contribution to the total rainfall climatology is still minimal, especially over the Amazon where rainfall data are very scarce. In this paper we propose to classify extreme rainfall events by type and analyze their frequency and intensity over South America with a focus on the Amazon basin. Gridded daily data from the MERGE/CPTEC product over a period of 15 years (1998–2013) was used. An adaptation of Rx5d climate index was applied to select different kinds of extreme rainfall for the purpose of quantifying their frequency and intensity as well as their contribution to the accumulated rainfall climatology. According to the results, all kinds of extreme rainfall events can be observed over the studied area. However, the quantity of rainfall produced by each type is different, and consequently their percent contributions to the total accumulated rainfall climatology also differ. For example: in the Amazon region EET-I is responsible for 15% - 40% of the total accumulated rainfall. Moreover, in the Brazilian northeast there are regions where EET-I exceeds 40% of the total rainfall. In northeast Brazil EET-II is responsible up to 30% of the total accumulated rainfall. EET-III is responsible for 5% - 15% in the Amazon basin, 25% - 45% in northeast Brazil and 10% - 45% over Roraima State. Area-mean time variation shows that the quantity of rainfall extremes over the Amazon basin was reduced during the El Nino years of 2002, 2005, 2007 and 2010, while during the La Ni?a episodes of 1999, 2008 and 2011 the quantity of rainfall related to the extremes increased.

The pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)has resulted in more than 93 million cases and 2 million deaths in the ***-CoV-2 respiratory tract infection and its main clinical manifestations such as cough and shortness of breath are well known to the scientific ***,a growing number of studies have reported SARS-CoV-2-related gastrointestinal involvement based on clinical manifestations,such as diarrhea,nausea,vomiting,and abdominal pain as well as on the pathophysiological mechanisms associated with coronavirus disease ***,current evidence suggests SARS-CoV-2 transmission via the fecal-oral route and aerosol ***,studies have shown a high risk of contamination through hospital surfaces and personal ***,viable SARS-CoV-2 specimens can be obtained from aerosols,which raises the possibility of transmission through aerosolized viral particles from ***,the infection by SARS-CoV-2 via fecal-oral route or aerosolized particles should *** addition,a possible viral spread to sources of drinking water,sewage,and rivers as well as the possible risk of viral transmission in shared toilets become a major public health concern,especially in the least developed *** authors have emphasized the presence of viral RNA and even viable SARS-CoV-2 in human feces,studies on the possible fecal-oral coronavirus disease 2019 transmission become essential to understand better the dynamics of its transmission and,then,to reinforce preventive measures against this infection,leading to a more satisfactory control of the incidence of the infection.

This paper records the first occurrence of Epistylis sp. on the body surface of Argulus sp. parasitizing Hoplias aimara from the upper Araguari River, in the eastern Amazon region, in the north of Brazil. Of the 16 specimens of H. aimara examined, 93.7% had their pelvic, caudal and pectoral fins and tegument infested by Argulus sp. (n = 73), which in turn were infested by Epistylis sp. The specimens of Epistylis sp. from the body surface of Argulus sp. were analyzed using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The present study also identified a widening of the geographic distribution of these two species of ectoparasites to the eastern Amazon region of Brazil.

Persistent Xerophthalmia in a Patient with Rheumatological Disease and Priiviary Sjogren’s Syndrome: Case Report from Northern Brazil

This case study aims to contribute to the literature in order to highlight the importance of this collaboration between medical specialties. A female patient R.N.N. F, age 66, from the city of Manaus, with a previous diagnosis of Sjogren’s syndrome in regular follow-up by the Rheumatology team at the Araujo lima outpatient clinic and referred to the Ophthalmology sector for complementary evaluation related to visual discomfort. The fundoscopy performed in the patient was within normal limits, but the symptoms experienced by her proved to be an important clinical finding, which has ratified the need for regular and multidisciplinary follow-up. This report unequivocally demonstrates that even in the face of tests considered within the expected limits for a given population, the clinical presentation can be specific and particular for each analyzed individual. Early screening exams should contemplate the patient in a holistic and individualized way whenever possible.

Oily Water Treatment by Ceramic Membrane: Modeling and Simulation

The separation process of oily water using membranes has attracted the attention of researchers and engineers. The greater problem in the use of membrane separation process is the reduction in permeate flux due to clogged pores by oil deposition inside the membrane or by the effect of the concentration polarization. For this purpose, a theoretical study of a water/oil separation module was performed. This device consists of a tubular ceramic membrane provided with a rectangular inlet section. Numerical simulations were performed using Ansys CFX software to solve the mass and momentum conservation equations in the fluid and porous domains. Here was adopted the RNG k-ε turbulence model. The effect of the membrane porosity and the inlet velocity of the fluid mixture on the two-phase flow behavior inside the separation module were evaluated. Results of the volumetric fraction, velocity and pressure fields of the oil and water phases are presented and analyzed. The results indicate a higher oil concentration within the membrane for the cases of higher porosity, and that the inlet fluid mixture velocity does not substantially affect the velocity profile within the separation module. It is found that the maximum separation efficiency of the module was obtained with feed velocity of 40 m/s and membrane porosity of 0.44.
