Analytical solutions of turbulent boundary layer beneath forward-leaning waves

As a typical nonlinear wave,forward-leaning waves can be frequently encountered in the near-shore areas,which can impact coastal sediment transport ***,it is of significance to describe the characteristics of the boundary layer beneath forward-leaning waves accurately,especially for the turbulent boundary *** this work,the linearized turbulent boundary layer model with a linear turbulent viscosity coefficient is applied,and the novel expression of the near-bed orbital velocity that has been worked out by the authors for forward-leaning waves of arbitrary forward-leaning degrees is further used to specify the free stream boundary condition of the bottom boundary ***,a variable transformation is found so as to make the equation of the turbulent boundary layer model be solved analytically through a modified Bessel ***,an explicit analytical solution of the turbulent boundary layer beneath forward-leaning waves is derived by means of variable separation and variable *** analytical solutions of the velocity profile and bottom shear stress of the turbulent boundary layer beneath forward-leaning waves are verified by comparing the present analytical results with typical experimental data available in the previous literature.

There is an urgent need for novel processes that can integrate different functional nanostructures onto specific substrates,so as to meet the fast-growing need for broad applications in nanoelectronics,nanophotonics,and fexible *** direct-lithography methods are difficult to use on fexible,nonplanar,and biocompatible ***,this fabrication is usually accomplished by nanotransfer ***,large-scale integration of multiscale nanostructures with unconventional substrates remains challenging because fabrication yields and quality are often limited by the resolution,uniformity,adhesivity,and integrity of the nanostructures formed by direct ***,we proposed a resist-based transfer strategy enabled by near-zero adhesion,which was achieved by molecular modification to attain a critical surface energy *** approach enabled the intact transfer of wafer-scale,ultrathin-resist nanofilms onto arbitrary substrates with mitigated cracking and wrinkling,thereby facilitating the in situ fabrication of nanostructures for functional *** this approach,fabrication of three-dimensional-stacked multilayer structures with enhanced functionalities,nanoplasmonic structures with~10 nm resolution,and MoS2-based devices with excellent performance was demonstrated on specific *** results collectively demonstrated the high stability,reliability,and throughput of our strategy for optical and electronic device applications.

A FAS approach for stabilization of generalized chained forms: part 1. Discontinuous control laws

In this paper, a type of general nonholonomic systems is proposed, which contains both the Brockett’s two example systems, and their extended n-dimensional chained forms, as special cases. For the stabilization of such systems, a stabilizing controller is proposed based on the fully actuated system(FAS)approach, which is discontinuous at the origin but time-invariant when the open-loop system is time-invariant,and drives the feasible trajectories of the system to the origin exponentially. Furthermore, the proposed FAS approach is also extended to the sub-normal system case and the time-delay system case.

In this paper, continuous time-varying stabilizing controllers for the type of general nonholonomic systems proposed and treated in part 1 are designed using the fully actuated system(FAS) approach. The key step is to differentiate the first scalar equation, and by control of the obtained second-order scalar system, a proportional plus integral feedback form for the first control variable is obtained. With the solution to this designed second-order scalar system, the rest equations in the nonholonomic system form an independent time-varying subsystem which is then handled by the FAS approach. The overall designed controller contains an almost arbitrarily chosen design parameter, and is proven to guarantee the uniformly and globally exponential stability of the closed-loop system. The proposed approach is simple and effective,and is demonstrated with a practical example of ship control.

Antiangiogenic effect of somatostatin receptor subtype 2 on pancreatic cancer cell line:Inhibition of vascular endothelial growth factor and matrix metalloproteinase-2 expression in vitro

AIM:To investigate the anti-angiogenic effect of somatostatin receptor subtype 2 (SSTR2) gene transfer into pancreatic cancer cell line PC-3, and the mechanisms involved in this ***: The full length human SSTR2 cDNA was introduced into pancreatic cancer cell line PC-3 by lipofectamine-mediated transfection. Positive clones were screened by G418 and stable expression of SSTR2 was detected by immunohistochemistry SABC methods and RT-PCR. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) levels in the cell culture supernatants of SSTR2-expressing cells, vector control and mock control cells. Furthermore, the expressions of VEGF and matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) were detected by immunohistochemistry SABC methods and RT-PCR in these ***: VEGF levels in the cell culture supernatants were significantly reduced in the SSTR2-expressing cells (first week,172.63±21.2ng/L and after two months, 198.85±26.44ng/L)compared with the vector control (first week, 790.39±86.52ng/L and after two months, 795.69±72.35ng/L) and mock control (first week, 786.42±90.62ng/L and after two months,805.32±84.36ng/L) (P<0.05).The immunohistochemical assay showed a significant reduction of the integral optical density of VEGF and MMP-2 in the SSTR2-expressing cells (42.25±8.6 and 70.5±6.25, respectively) compared with the vector control (85.75±12.9 and 110.52±13.5, respectively) and mock control (82.6±9.28 and 113.56±9.62,respectively) (P<0.05).Conversely, the average gray value of VEGF and MMP-2 was significantly increased in the SSTR2-expressing cells (121.56±8.43 and 134.46±19.95, respectively) compared with the vector control (55.72±5.6 and 62.26±12.68,respectively) and mock control cells (58.48±6.2 and 65.49±9.16, respectively) (P<0.05). Moreover, the expressions of VEGF mRNA and MMP-2 mRNA were significantly reduced in the SSTR2-expressing cells (0.1384±0.017 and 0.2343±0.070, respectively) compared with the vector c

This paper studies a robust fault compensation and vibration suppression problem of flexible hypersonic *** controlled plant is represented by a cascade system composed of a nonlinear Ordinary Differential Equation(ODE)and an Euler-Bernoulli Beam Equation(EBBE),in which the vibration dynamics is coupled with the rigid dynamics and suffers from distributed faults.A state differential transformation is introduced to transfer distributed faults to an EBBE boundary and a longitudinal dynamics is refined by utilizing T-S fuzzy IF-THEN rules.A novel T-S fuzzy based fault-tolerant control algorithm is developed and related stability conditions are *** robust exponential stability and well-posedness are proved by using the modified l_(0)-semigroup based Lyapunov direct approach.A simulation study on the longitudinal dynamics of flexible hypersonic vehicles effectively verifies the validity of the developed theoretical results.

By refueling aircraft while they are in flight,aerial refueling is an efficient technique to extend their endurance and *** Aerial Refueling(AAR)is anticipated to be used to complete aerial refueling for unmanned *** are three aerial refueling methods:the Probe-and-Drogue Refueling(PDR)refueling method,the flying-boom refueling method,and the boom-drogue-adapter refueling *** paper considers the PDR approach,the most challenging of the three,because the flexible hose-drogue assembly has fast dynamics and is susceptible to various kinds of winds,which makes the probe docking with the drogue *** is divided into four phases,namely the rendezvous phase,joining phase,refueling phase,and reform phase,with the refueling phase being the most *** controller design faces the greatest challenge during the docking control of the refueling phase since it calls for a high level of safety,precision,and *** a result,the modeling and control issues encountered during the refueling phase are typical and *** fundamental idea of AAR is presented in the paper first,after which the characteristics and requirements of AAR are *** progress in modeling and control techniques for the AAR’s refueling phase is then systematically ***,potential future work for high safety,precision,and efficiency requirements is examined and suggested.
