Interannual succession of phytoplankton community in a canyon-shaped drinking water reservoir during the initial impoundment period:Taxonomic versus functional groups

During the initial impoundment period of a canyon-shaped reservoir,the water body fluctuated violently regarding water level,hydrological condition,and thermal *** variations may alter the structure of phytoplankton community,resulting in algal blooms and seriously threatening the ecological security of the *** is of great significance to understand the continuous changes of phytoplankton in the initial impoundment period for the protection of reservoir water ***,a two-year in-situ monitoring study was conducted on water quality and phytoplankton in a representative canyonshaped reservoir named Sanhekou and the interannual changes of phytoplankton community and its response to environmental changes during the initial impoundment period were discussed at taxonomic versus functional classification *** results showed that the total nitrogen and permanganate index levels were relatively high in the first year due to rapid water storage and heavy rainfall input,and the more stable hydrological conditions in the second year promoted the increase of algae density and the transformation of community,and the proportion of cyanobacteria increased *** succession order of phytoplankton in the first year of the initial impoundment periodwas Chlorophyta-Bacillariophyta-Chlorophyta,or J/F/X1-P/MP/W1-A/X1/MP,*** the succession order in the second year was Cyanobacteria/Chlorophyta-Bacillariophyta-Chlorophyta,or L_(M)/G/P-P/A/X1-X1/J/*** temperature,relativewater column stability,mixing depth,and pHwere crucial factors affecting phytoplankton community *** study revealed the interannual succession law and driving factors of phytoplankton in the initial impoundment period and provided an important reference for the operation management and ecological protection of canyon-shaped reservoirs.

Gastrointestinal malignancies encompass cancers of the esophagus,stomach,pancreas,liver,gallbladder,biliary tract,colon,and *** to the 2020 global cancer statistics,gastrointestinal malignancies accounted for approximately 26.4%of all new cancer cases and 36.3%of new deaths(Text S1 online)[1–3].The high incidence and mortality of gastrointestinal malignancies pose a tremendous threat to human *** significant strides in the management of advanced and metastatic gastrointestinal malignancies(Text S2 online),they frequently prove incurable,with 5-year survival rates consistently remaining<20%across various affected sites[4,5].Emerging evidence increasingly underscores the promising therapeutic potential of mRNA vaccines in the field of cancer *** vaccines offer several advantages over traditional strategies(Texts S3 and S4 online)[6–8].Here,we discuss the recent progress and future perspectives of m RNA vaccines in gastrointestinal malignancies.

The first total synthesis of(+)-taberdicatine B and(+)-tabernabovine B has been accomplished in 10steps with 26.9% overall yield and 15 steps with 7.3% overall yield, respectively. The prominent features of this efficient synthetic strategy include the following:(1)(+)-Taberdicatine B and(+)-tabernabovine B were accessed from common advanced intermediates by varying the substituents;(2) A one-pot asymmetric bromocyclization/hydrolysis was explored to assemble HPI skeleton;(3) Dieckmann condensation to form β-keto ester for the assembly of seven-membered ring;(4) An ester reduction/amide semireduction/cyclization sequence was applied to form the cage-like framework.

Dementia is characterized by synaptic and neuronal dysfunction in disease-specific brain regions. Repeated failure of dementia clinical trials with therapeutic drugs targeting abnormal protein aggregates has caused researchers to shift their focus to synaptic functions and increased the importance of clinically available imaging for synaptic density and the development of synapse-targeted intervention. Synaptic density imaging with positron emission tomography (PET) tracer enables non-invasive detection of synaptic loss and hence investigates the association with other neuropathological events exemplified by disease-specific abnormal protein accumulation. Many studies have reviewed the progress of synaptic density imaging;however, to our knowledge, there is no article yet that summarizes the research progress of multimodal imaging of synaptic density tracers combined with other dementia biomarkers. Moreover, synaptic function intervention for dementia therapy has not yet been summarized. In this review, first we detail the progress of synaptic density imaging including tracer development and preclinical/clinical application, followed by a discussion of multimodal imaging of synaptic density tracers combined with classic dementia biomarkers in the clinical research stage. Finally, we briefly summarize the synapse-targeted drugs for dementia therapy. © 2024

The grain size of TiAl alloy castings prepared by traditional casting process is coarse,thus showing poor mechanical *** this study,a new type of high performance Ti-46Al alloy tube prepared by vacuum centrifugal casting technology was *** research comprehensively examined the influence of pouring time on the microstructure and mechanical performance of the castings,employing both experimental approaches and ProCast simulation *** findings indicate that prolonging the pouring time facilitates a microstructural evolution from coarse columnar grains to refined equiaxed *** the condition of pouring temperature of 1,600℃,rotation speed of 800 r·min^(-1) and pouring time of 6 s,the tensile strength of Ti-46Al alloy at room temperature reaches 650 MPa,and the tensile strength at 800℃ reaches 705 MPa,which is significantly higher than that of traditional as-cast Ti-Al alloy.

To enhance the high-temperature oxidation resistance and mechanical properties of a secondgeneration nickel-based superalloy,various concentrations of lanthanum(La)ranging from 5.0×10^(-5)wt.%to 3.4×10^(-4)wt.%are added to the *** microstructure of the nickel-based single crystal superalloy with trace of La was examined by means of SEM,EDS and *** show the addition of La decreases the segregation of elements and increases the amount ofγ/γ′eutectics of the as-cast alloy,and in the interdendritic region,the growth of eutectics is accompanied by the growth of strip clusters composed of Ni_(5)La and Ni_(3)*** the La content in the alloy increases,the proportion of Ni_(5)La in the cluster *** heat treatment,incipient melting occurs in the cluster regions,leading to an increase in microporosity compared to the original as-cast ***,the heat treatment alters the shape of the clusters from a strip morphology to an elliptical one,and it changes their composition from Ni_(5)La and Ni_(3)Ta to a combination of Ni_(5)La,Ni_(3)Ta,and MC carbides.

The textured roll and polished roll were applied instead of the ground roll in a 20-high mill to conduct two-pass rolling of 316L stainless steel strip with thickness of 0.027 *** the two-pass rolling with the textured roll and polished roll(TPR),the surface roughness of the strip is dramatically reduced,and the surface topographical anisotropy index is diminished to 30.9%of the initial *** with the strip rolled using the ground roll in both passes(GGR),the elongation of TPR rolled strip is obviously improved,and the mechanical property anisotropy is greatly *** anisotropy index of tensile strength and elongation are 42.58%and 52.59%of that of GGR rolled strip,which is mainly attributed to the significant decrease of the texture intensity of the strip by TPR *** results indicate that TPR process can obtain the stainless steel ultra-thin strip with smooth and uniform surface topography and good mechanical properties.

Improving atmospheric pressure vertical correction model using Gaussian function

The Zenith Hydrostatic Delay(ZHD) is essential for high-precision Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS) and Very Long Baseline Interferometry(VLBI) data processing. Accurate estimation of ZHD relies on in situ atmospheric pressure, which is primarily variable in the vertical direction. Current atmospheric pressure is either site-specific or has limited spatial coverage, necessitating vertical corrections for broader applicability. This study introduces a model that uses a Gaussian function for the vertical correction of atmospheric pressure when in situ meteorological observations are unavailable. Validation with the fifth-generation European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts reanalysis(ERA5) reveals an average Bias and RMS for the new model of 0.31 h Pa and 2.96 h Pa,respectively. This corresponds to improvements of 37.5% and 80.3% in terms of RMS compared to two commonly used models(T0and Tvmodels) that require in situ meteorological observations,respectively. Additional validation with radiosonde data shows an average Bias and RMS of 1.85 h Pa and 4.87 h Pa, corresponding to the improvement of 42.8% and 71.1% in RMS compared with T0and Tv models, respectively. These accuracies are sufficient for calculating ZHD to an accuracy of 1 mm by performing atmospheric pressure vertical correction. The new model can correct atmospheric pressure from meteorological stations or numerical weather forecasts to different heights of the troposphere.

Background The prevalence of Helicobacterpylori （H. pylon） infection varies by geographic locations. Studies indicate that the infection rate of H. pylori was previously high in China but that rates had been declining worldwide over recent decades. The aims of our study were：（1） to determine the current prevalence of H. pylori infection among children and adults residing in areas with high （Muping County, Shandong） and low （Yanqing County, Beijing） incidences of gastric cancer in China, and （2） to compare the prevalence for 2006 with the prevalence for the early 1990s. Methods Using Warthin-Starry silver staining of gastric mucosal biopsy specimens and H. pylori stool antigen tests （HpSA）, we tested a total of 2065 asymptomatic children aged 8-15 years and adults aged 40-79 years in the above two regions from May to July 2006. We evaluated 520 children and 526 adults from Muping, and 516 children and 503 adults from Yanqing. Subjects were selected randomly and H. pylori status was determined by HpSA in children and either HpSA or histology of gastric biopsies in adults. Data obtained in the early 1990s in the same two areas of China were also collected and studied. Results For children, the prevalence of H. pylori infection was significantly higher in Muping （37.69%） than it was in Yanqing （25.58%, P〈0.001）. In both regions, the prevalence of H. pyloriincreased with age but was not related to gender A significant difference was observed between 8-9-years old and 10-11-years old （P 〈0.05）, but not between other adjoining age groups （P 〉0.05）. From 1991 to 2006 H. pylori prevalence among 8-10-year-old children decreased in Muping （60.00% vs 32.07%, P 〈0.001）, but not Yanqing （24.06% vs 19.10%, P 〉0.05）. In the adult group, H. pylori prevalence was 50.95% in Muping, which was significantly higher than the 41.35% positive rate in Yanqing （P 〈0.01）. But there were no statistically significant differences between different age groups of 40-49, 50-59, and 60-79 years, or
