Tuned liquid damper (TLD) and tuned liquid column damper (TLCD) are two types of passive control devices that are widely used in structural control. In this study, a real-time hybrid simulation (RTHS) technique is employed to investigate the diff erence in control performance between TLD and TLCD. A series of RTHSs is presented with the premise of the same liquid length, mass ratio, and structural parameters. Herein, TLD and TLCD are physically experimented, and controlled structures are numerically simulated. Then, parametric studies are performed to further evaluate the diff erent performance between TLD and TLCD. Experimental results demonstrate that TLD is more eff ective than TLCD under diff erent amplitude excitations.

DNA sequencing using reversible terminators, as one sequencing by synthesis strategy, has garnered a great deal of interest due to its popular application in the second-generation high-throughput DNA sequencing technology. In this review, we provided its history of develop- ment, classification, and working mechanism of this technology. We also outlined the screening strategies for DNA polymerases to accommodate the reversible terminators as substrates during polymerization; particularly, we introduced the ＂REAP＂ method developed by us. At the end of this review, we discussed current limitations of this approach and provided potential solutions to extend its application.

The paper is devoted to proposing a constitutive model based on micromechanics. The joints in rock masses are treated as penny-shaped inclusion in solid but not through structural planes by considering joint density, closure effect, joint geometry. The mechanical behavior of the joints is represented by an elasto-plastic constitutive law. Mori-Tanaka method is used to derive the relationship between the joint deformations and macroscopic strains. The incremental stress-strain relationship of rock masses is formulated by taking the volume average of the representative volume element. Meanwhile, the behavior of joints is obtained. By using implicit integration algorithms, the consistent tangent moduli are proposed and the method of updating stresses and joint displacements is presented. Some examples are calculated by ABAQUS user defined material subroutine based on this model.

In previous studies, N,O-carboxymethyl chitosan has been shown to decrease the incidence and intensity of abdominal adhesions. In the present study, adhesions were induced in 220 rabbits using a double uterine horn model. Rabbits were randomized to receive an operation only or an operation+medical chitosan intraperitoneally. Twenty-two rabbits from each group were euthanized at one of five different times(Day 3, 7, 14, 28, or 42), and adhesion formation was given gross and histopathological scores. Reductions were observed in adhesion extent(P=0.0337) and tenacity(P=0.0271) as well as inflammation(P<0.0001) on Day 3 when medical chitosan was applied. Prior to Day 14, fibrosis was less obvious in the medical chitosan group(P<0.0005). The tenacity scores were significantly lower in the medical chitosan group following Day 14(P<0.05), while the type scores were lower in the medical chitosan group following Day 28(P<0.03). Thus, medical chitosan decreased both the gross and the histopathological scores of the induced adhesions.

Varying Rossby Wave Trains from the Developing to Decaying Period of the Upper Atmospheric Heat Source over the Tibetan Plateau in Boreal Summer

This study demonstrates the two different Rossby wave train（RWT） patterns related to the developing/decaying upper atmospheric heat source over the Tibetan Plateau（TPUHS） in boreal summer. The results show that the summer TPUHS is dominated by quasi-biweekly variability, particularly from late July to mid-August when the subtropical jet steadily stays to the north of the TP. During the developing period of TPUHS events, the intensifying TPUHS corresponds to an anomalous upper-tropospheric high over the TP, which acts as the main source of a RWT that extends northeastward, via North China, the central Pacific and Alaska, to the northeastern Pacific region. This RWT breaks up while the anomalous high is temporarily replaced by an anomalous low due to the further deepened convective heating around the TPUHS peak. However, this anomalous low, though existing for only three to four days due to the counteracting dynamical effects of the persisting upper/lower divergence/convergence over the TP, acts as a new wave source to connect to an anomalous dynamical high over the Baikal region. Whilst the anomalous low is diminishing rapidly, this Baikal high becomes the main source of a new RWT, which develops eastward over the North Pacific region till around eight days after the TPUHS peak. Nevertheless, the anomaly centers along this decaying-TPUHS-related RWT mostly appear much weaker than those along the previous ***, their impacts on circulation and weather differ considerably from the developing to the decaying period of TPUHS events.

In summer, the Yellow Sea Cold Water Mass （YSCWM） is a stable water mass of low temperature lying at the bottom of the central Yellow Sea （YS）. It is fringed by some typical tidal fronts, which separate deep, stratified water on the offshore side from the well-mixed, shallow water on the inshore side. Three striking fronts--Subei Bank Front （SBF）, Shandong Peninsula Front （SPF）, and Mokpo Front （MKF; a front off the southwestern tip of the Korean Peninsula）--have been iden- tified by various studies from both satellite observations and model results. Tide plays an important role in the formation and maintenance of these fronts. However, it is still a matter of debate as to the roles these two kinds of mechanisms of upwelling and tidal mixing play, and how importance they are in the maintenance processes of the above three fronts. Basing a nested high-resolution model HYCOM （the Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model）, this study focuses on the different mechanisms of tidal effects on the thermal fronts in the YS in summertime. Through comparative experiments with and without tidal forcing, the results indicate that the MKF is mainly driven by tide-induced upwelling. For the SPF, tidal mixing is the dominant factor, when lower cold water is stirred upwards along the sloping topography of the western YS. Meanwhile, the combined effect of upwelling and tidal mixing is the main cause of the formation of the SBF. Diagnostic analysis of thermal balance shows that horizontal nonlinear advection induced by strong tidal currents also contributes to the thermal balance of frontal areas.

High-temperature creep rupture behavior of modified 9Cr-lMo steel used for steam cooler was investigated at temperature of 838 and 923 K and stress ranging from 100 to 250 *** on the analysis of creep rate-time curves,it is found that the creep rupture life decreases with the increase in the applied stress and *** creep damage tolerance factor has been identified as a value of *** the normalized and tempered condition,the studied steel shows typical martensitic microstructure with Cr-rich M23C6 and Nb-or V-rich MX ***,the Laves phase has been found along the grain *** fracture morphology characterized by field emission scanning electron microscope is adopted to reveal the creep failure *** investigated results indicate the occurrence of the transgranular fracture under all the creep test conditions.

The Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System(PI-RADS)has good ability to identify the nature of lesions on prostate magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).However,some lesions are still reported as PI-RADS 4 and 5 but are biopsy-proven ***,we aimed to summarize the reasons for the negative prostate biopsy of patients who were assessed as PI-RADS 4 and 5 by biparameter *** retrospectively sorted out the prostate MRI,treatment,and follow-up results of patients who underwent a biparameter MRI examination of the prostate in The First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University(Nanjing,China)from August 2019 to June 2021 with PI-RADS 4 and 5 but a negative *** focused on reviewing the MRI characteristics.A total of 467 patients underwent transperineal prostate *** them,biopsy pathology of 93 cases were *** follow-up,90 patients were ruled out of prostate *** the 90 cases,40 were considered to be overestimated PI-RADS after review.A total of 22 cases were transition zone(TZ)lesions with regular appearance and clear boundaries,and 3 cases were symmetrical *** 15 cases,the TZ nodules penetrated the peripheral zone(PZ)and were mistaken for the origin of PZ.A total of 17 cases of lesions were difficult to distinguish from prostate *** them,5 cases were granulomatous inflammation(1 case of prostate tuberculosis).A total of 33 cases were ambiguous lesions,whose performance was between PI-RADS 3 and *** summary,the reasons for“false-positive MRI diagnosis”included PI-RADS overestimation,ambiguous images giving higher PI-RADS,diseases that were really difficult to distinguish,and missed lesion in the initial biopsy;and the first two accounted for the most.

Neutron-induced fission is an important research object in basic ***,its product yield data are an indispensable nuclear data basis in nuclear engineering and *** fission yield tensor decomposition(FYTD)model has been developed and used to evaluate the independent fission product *** general,fission yield data are verified by the direct comparison of experimental and evaluated ***,such direct comparison cannot reflect the impact of the evaluated data on application scenarios,such as reactor transport-burnup ***,this study applies the evaluated fission yield data in transport-burnup simulation to verify their accuracy and possibility of ***,the evaluated yield data of235U and239Pu are applied in the transport-burnup simulation of a pressurized water reactor(PWR)and sodium-cooled fast reactor(SFR)for *** the reactor operation stage,the errors in pin-cell reactivity caused by the evaluated fission yield do not exceed 500 and 200 pcm for the PWR and SFR,*** errors in decay heat and135Xe and149Sm concentrations during the short-term shutdown of the PWR are all less than 1%;the errors in decay heat and activity of the spent fuel of the PWR and SFR during the temporary storage stage are all less than 2%.For the PWR,the errors in important nuclide concentrations in spent fuel,such as90Sr,137Cs,85Kr,and99Tc,are all less than 6%,and a larger error of 37%is observed *** the SFR,the concentration errors of ten important nuclides in spent fuel are all less than 16%.A comparison of various aspects reveals that the transport-burnup simulation results using the FYTD model evaluation have little difference compared with the reference results using ENDF/B-Ⅷ.0 *** proves that the evaluation of the FYTD model may have application value in reactor physical analysis.
