This research assessed the relationship between wood physical-anatomical variables and charcoal physical-mechanical *** trees were harvested and mechanically processed into standard pieces for laboratory *** following variables were determined:wood density,fiber length and width,fiber lumen diameter and wall thickness,fiber wall fraction,and vessel *** charcoal was produced in a laboratory and gravimetric yield,relative density,and mechanical properties ***’s correlation coefficients,multivariate statistical analysis of canonical correlation,and principal component analysis were used to evaluate the relationship between wood and charcoal *** width was not significantly correlated with charcoal *** bulk density,hardness,and strength were positively correlated with wood density,fiber length,wall thickness,and wall *** properties were negatively correlated with fiber lumen diameter and vessel *** results will help identify the best wood with adequate physical-mechanical properties for industrial charcoal proces sing.

Esophageal atresia(EA)is defined as a discontinuity of the lumen of the esophagus repaired soon after *** is a common symptom in these patients,usually related to stricture,dysmotility or peptic *** present 4 cases of patients with EA who complained of dysphagia and the diagnosis of Eosinophilic esophagitis(Eo E)was made,ages ranging from9 to 16 *** our patients were on acid suppression years after their EA repair,they presented with acute worsening of *** and/or barium swallow did not show stricture and biopsies revealed elevated eosinophil counts consistent with Eo *** of 4 patients improved symptomatically with the topical *** is important to note that all our patients have asthma and 3 out of 4 have tested positive for food *** of our patients developed recurrent anastomotic strictures that improved with the treatment of the Eo E.A previous case report linked the recurrence of esophageal strictures in patients with EA repair with Eo *** the Eo E was treated the strictures *** the other hand,based on our observation,Eo E could be present in patients without recurrent anastomotic *** appears to be a spectrum in the disease *** are suggesting that Eo E is a frequent concomitant problem in patients with history of congenital esophageal deformities,and for this reason any of these patients with refractory reflux symptoms or dysphagia(with or without anastomotic stricture)may benefit from an endoscopic evaluation with biopsies to rule out Eo E.

AIM:To evaluate the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori(*** ) babA2 ,babB and a recombinant gene between babA2 and babB(babA2/B ),and their role in the development of atrophic gastritis in Costa Rican and Japanese clinical ***:A total of 95 continuous ***-positive Costa Rican(41 males and 54 females;mean age,50.65 years;sD,± 13.04 years) and 95 continuous ***-positive Japanese(50 males and 45 females;mean age,63.43;sD,± 13.21 years) patients underwent upper endoscopy from October 2005 to July *** were enrolled for the polymerase chain reaction(PCR)-based genotyping of the *** babA2 ,babB and babA2/B *** analysis was performed using the χ2 test and the Fisher's exact probability test and multivariate analysis was performed by logistic regression adjusting for gender and age.P s regarded as statistically ***:The PCR-based genotyping of 95 Costa Rican and 95 Japanese isolates showed a higher prevalence of babA2 in Japan(96.8%) than in Costa Rica(73.7%),while that of babA2/B was higher in Costa Rica(11.6%) than in Japan(1.1%).In Costa Rican isolates only,babA2 was significantly associated with atrophic gastritis(P = 0.01).CONCLUsION:These results suggest that the status of babA2 and babA2/B shows geographic differences,and that babA2 has clinical relevance in Costa Rica.

AIM： To evaluate several risk factors for gastric cancer （GC） in Costa Rican regions with contrasting GC incidence rate （GCIR）. METHODs： According to GCIR, 191 Helicobacter pylori （H pylori）-positive patients were classified into groups A （high GCIR, n = 101） and B （low GCIR, n = 90）. Human DNA obtained from biopsy specimens was used in the determination of polymorphisms of the genes coding for interleukin （IL）-1β and IL-10 by PCRRFLP, and IL-1RN by PCR. H pylori DNA extractions obtained from clinical isolates of 83 patients were used for PCR-based genotyping of H pylori cagA, vacA and babA2. Human DNA from gastric biopsies of 52 GC patients was utilized for comparative purposes. REsULTs： Cytokine polymorphisms showed no association with GCIR variability. However, gastric atrophy, intestinal metaplasia and strains with different vacA genotypes in the same stomach （mixed strain infection） were more frequently found in group A than in group B, and cagA and vacA s1b were significantly associated with high GCIR （P = 0.026 and 0.041, respectively）. IL- 1β＋3954_T/C （OR 2.1, 1.0-4.3）, IL-1RN^＊2/L （OR 3.5, 1.7-7.3） and IL-10-592_C/A （OR 3.2, 1.5-6.8） were individually associated with GC, and a combination of these cytokine polymorphisms with Hpylori vacA slb and ml further increased the risk （OR 7.2, 1.4-36.4）. CONCLUsION： Although a proinflammatory cytokine genetic profile showed an increased risk for developing GC, the characteristics of Hpylori infection, in particular the status of cagA and vacA genotype distribution seemed to play a major role in GCIR variability in Costa Rica.

Aims Understanding the factors that control biodiversity distributions at different spatial scales has been a key challenge for conservation *** biodiversity,reflected in differences in species compositions among sites(beta diversity),can be derived from species replacement(turnover)and is driven by multiple ***,we sought to tackle this issue through two questions related to threatened Brazilian seasonally dry forests:(i)what is the contribution of species turnover to beta diversity?and(ii)which factors drive variations in species compositions among forest patches?Methods We sampled tree species and environmental variables(soils and climate)in 17 dry forest patches spaced almost 300 km *** used the beta diversity partitioning framework to determine the contribution of *** used redundancy analysis,with properly controlled spatial structure,to assess the contributions of the environmental and spatial factors to the variations of the species *** Findings Beta diversity among the patches was mainly represented by the turnover component(98.2%),with simpson dissimilarity superior to other regions of the country(means of 0.89 and 0.71 in multiple site and pairwise measures,respectively).The environmental factors measured explained more than space,representing 30.3%of the variation of the species composition,of which 28.1%was nonspatially *** suggest that 300 km represents a threshold at which edaphic and climatic predictors have similar effects in determining community turnover(14.9%and 12.6%,respectively,without spatial structure).Thus,conservation strategies should be considered across landscapes to effectively protect tropical forest diversity,as even considering the different climatic aspects covered by the scale,landscaped edaphic varieties are important drivers of species turnover.

The urbanization process inside the state of s?o Paulo (Brazil) facilitated, in approximately five decades, the migration of thousands of peasants to the urban areas of great industrial centers inducing and requesting, at the same time and very often, an amplification of the systems of local urban infrastructure not appropriate for the natural potential of the physical territory. In this content, the city of s?o José do Rio Preto (state of s?o Paulo) with little more than 350.000 inhabitants, currently faces serious problems related to the urban planning originating from the unusual occupation and without previous study of suitability. Therefore, the present paper intends to guide and indicate the areas whose potential of urban development leads to an occupation suitable for the construction of shallow foundations in residential buildings of single floor, using an interpretative chart produced by the software GIs-sPRING-4.0 developed by Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais/INPE (Brazil), and based in the methodology of geotechnical mapping developed by the department of geotechnical engineering of EEsC/UsP (Brazil). The chart for shallow foundation shows that a large portion of the studied area presents serious relationship problems with layers of highly collapsible soils.

Compressing supercapacitor(sCs)electrode is essential for improving the energy storage characteristics and minimizing ions’distance travel,faradaic reactions,and overall ohmic *** comprising the ion dynamics in sC electrodes under compression are still ***,the ionic dynamics of five aqueous electrolytes in electrodes under compression were studied in this work for tracking electrochemical and structural changes under mechanical stress.A superionic state is formed when the electrode is compressed until the micropores match the dimensions with the electrolyte’s hydrated ion sizes,which increases the *** excessive compression is applied,the accessible pore regions decrease,and the capacitance ***,as the studied hydrated ions have different dimensions,the match between ion/pore sizes *** the LiOH and NaClO4electrolytes,increasing the pressure from 60 to 120 and 100 PsI raised the capacitance from 13.5 to 35.2 F g^(-1)and 30.9 to 39.0 F g^(-1),***,the KOH electrolyte with the lowest and LiCl with the biggest combination of hydrated ion size have their point of maximum capacitance(39.5 and 36.7F g^(-1))achieved at 140 and 80 PsI,*** LiCl and KCl electrolytes,overcompression causes a drop in capacitance higher than 23%.

This work proposes the synthesis of the 5%wt Ru on MWCNT catalyst and the influence of feed rate and testing variables for low-temperature oxidation affecting the COsub>2sub> yield. Morphology and incorporation of the nanoparticles in carbon nanotubes were investigated by specific surface area (BET method);thermogravimetric analyses (TGA);X-ray diffraction;Raman spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and XPs. The conversions of CO and Osub>2sub> were mostly 100% in groups C1 and C2 (temperature between 200 and 500°C with low WHsV). In order to assess the effect of mass on catalytic activity, condition C3 was tested at even lower temperatures. In the tested catalyst, high activity (100% CO and Osub>2sub> conversion) was observed, keeping it active under reaction conditions, suggesting oxi-reduction of the RuOsub>2sub> at surface without affecting the MWCNT but Lewis acid influencing the COsub>2sub> yield.

This paper presented the new sanitary and health protocols implemented by cruise companies in order to internationally resuming the industry. The perception of Brazilians regarding these new protocols was identified through a quantitative survey with a sample of 412 Brazilian respondents, carried out between May and June 2021. As main results, sanitary and health protocols that do not affect their experiences on board were identified, as well as those protocols that compromised the experience perceived by the future traveler. The respondents’ propensity to travel on cruise ships and their perceptions about the influence of the ship size, the number of ports of call, nationalities on board, the number of guests, among other aspects, were also analyzed. Finally, in the final section of this paper, we presented an estimation of the expected number of cruisers for the 21/22 cruising season in Brazil, based on a kind Bayesian argument, considering different scenarios for the forthcoming season.
