Nd^(3+)-doped tellurite glasses are promising materials for th.rmometers based on th. fluorescence intensity ratio(FIR)***,at h.gh.Nd^(3+)concentrations,energy transfer(ET)processes such.as optical reabsorption and cross-relaxation can affect th. Nd^(3+)emission,wh.ch.h.s been little explored in th. ***,th. present work investigated th. use of Nd^(3+)-doped tellurite glass(samples doped with.Nd^(3+)at 0.2 mol%,0.5 mol%,2.0 mol%,and 4.0 mol%)in fluorescence th.rmometers,in th. temperature range from 299 to 371 *** results indicate a strong dependence of th. FIR parameters on th. Nd^(3+)concentration,due to ch.nges in th. emission band profiles caused by optical reabsorption of th. Nd^(3+)emissions and cross-relaxation processes.A decrease of th. relative sensitivity of th. ratio^(4)F_(5/2)→^(4)I_(9/2)/^(4)F_(3/2)→^(4)I_(9/2)is observed for samples doped with.h.gh.r amounts of Nd^(3+).Th. maximum relative sensitivity at 299 K is 3.00%/K,wh.ch.is th. h.gh.st value among th. reported Nd^(3+)ions.

We recently read th. opinion piece titled“Wh. people sh.uld run after positive affective experiences instead of h.alth.benefits”,wh.ch.was carried out by Maltagliati et al.^(1)and publish.d in th. Journal of Sport and h.alth.*** article started an important discussion about a ph.sical activity(PA)promotion approach.th.t encourages th. use of affective experience to PA *** we agree with.th. auth.rs’point of view and believe th.t its message can generate an important insigh. for PA promotion,th. auth.rs presented a scenario wh.re beh.vior ch.nge seems to be exclusively dependent on th. *** th. existence of oth.r barriers to an active lifestyle(e.g.,social inequalities)could enh.nce th. auth.rs’suggested approach.because many people live in conditions th.t reduce th.ir opportunities to engage in affective experiences related to PA;furth.rmore,affective experiences can vary depending on individual context.

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a progressive degenerative condition th.t mainly affects th. elderly. Th. disease comprises motor symptoms such.as tremors at rest, loss of voluntary movement, decreased muscle strength. propensity to lean forward and acceleration of th. walking pace. Th.se signs are related to th. degeneration of th. nigrostriatal dopaminergic path.ay. Patients also h.ve non-motor symptoms, among wh.ch.sleep alterations, cognitive deficits, fatigue, pain and depression stand out. Alth.ugh.depression h.s been described as th. most prevalent non-motor symptom, it is not clear wh.th.r th.s mood disorder is due to PD or patients would already h.ve a greater predisposition. Th. present study evaluated th. relationsh.p between th. predisposition to depressive-like beh.vior and th. development of motor alterations in a progressive ph.rmacological model of PD in mice. Mice were classified into groups of depressive-like propensities and submitted to th. ph.rmacological model. Reserpine was administrated at 0.1 mg/kg on alternate days for 40 days. Th. catalepsy and oral movement tests were used to evaluate motor alterations, th. sucrose preference test was used to evaluate anh.donia, and th. open field test was applied to evaluate general activity. Reserpine promoted parkinsonian motor impairments, and th.re were no differences between animals from different depressive-like beh.vior profiles. Th.s, it was not possible to find a relationsh.p between parkinsonism and th. propensity to depression based on th. basal sucrose preference test. More studies with.oth.r evaluations of depressive-like beh.vior are needed to confirm th. results found in our study.
