Using spatial indicators to predict ventilation and energy performance-correlation analysis for an apartment building in five Chinese cities

In the early design stages,architects are in constant search of a design direction that can determine the success or failure of the final ***,in real design practice,most of the prediction methods for building performances,in this paper energy and thermal comfort,are utilised in the later design *** configuration is one of the most important issues for architectural design in the early design *** study investigates the correlations between the spatial indicators connected with architectural design and the building physics indicators ventilation performance and energy *** main objective is to explore the potential of applying spatial indicators using space syntax to predict ventilation performance and energy performance in order to support architects for the evaluation of their concepts and schemes in early design *** layout of a high-rise apartment in China in five different cities is chosen as a case *** results show that the selected three indicators:connectivity value,air change rate and annual cooling saving ratio are linearly correlated,not just at building level but also at room level.R2,the correlation coefficient of determination,is between 0.53 and 0.90(except for the case of Chongqing at building level).

Nitrogen enhanced drainage of CO2 rich coal seams for mining

Coal seams with high CO_2 gas contents can be difficult to drain gas for outburst management. Coal has a high affinity for CO_2 with adsorption capacities typically twice that of CH_4. This paper presents an analysis of nitrogen injection into coal to enhance drainage of high CO_2 gas contents. Core flooding experiments were conducted where nitrogen was injected into coal core samples from two Australian coal mining basins with initial CO_2 gas contents and pressures that could be encountered during underground mining. Nitrogen effectively displaced the CO_2 with mass balance analysis finding there was only approximately 6%–7% of the original CO_2 gas content residual at the end of the core flood. Using a modified version of the SIMED II reservoir simulator, the core flooding experiments were history matched to determine the nitrogen and methane sorption times. It was found that a triple porosity model(a simple extension of the Warren and Root dual porosity model) was required to accurately describe the core flood observations. The estimated model properties were then used in reservoir simulation studies comparing enhanced drainage with conventional drainage with underground in seam boreholes. For the cases considered, underground in seam boreholes were found to provide shorter drainage lead times than enhanced drainage to meet a safe gas content for outburst management.

Objectives:While receptive art engagement is known to promote health and wellbeing,active art engagement has not been fully explored in health and nursing *** review is to describe the existing knowledge on art making and expressive art therapy in adult health and nursing care between 2010 and ***:Relevant studies and grey literature were searched and identified between March 17 and April 10,2020 from EBSCO,CINAHL,Medline and ERIC databases and a general Internet *** data charting and extraction,the data(n=42 papers)were summarized and reported in accordance with pRISMA-ScR ***:In the included papers,both art making and expressive art therapy were seen in different health care and nursing contexts:yet not the home care *** emphasis of art activities were group activities for chronically or terminally ill residents,adults aged 65 years or older.A focus on personal narrative was often seen,which may explain why art activities appear to be linked to acknowledging and building new strengths and skills,making meaning of experiences,personal growth,symptom alleviation,and communication;all used to foster collaboration between patients,patients’near-ones and health care ***:Art activities appear to be suitable for every context and can promote personcenteredness and the measurement of nursing outcomes,and they should be considered an essential part of health and nursing care,nursing education and care for health care personnel.

The role of zooplankton as live feeds on the thyroid hormone profile related to metamorphosis of marine fish larvae coral trout plectropomus leopardus (Lacepède, 1802)

Coral trout plectropomus leopardus is a high-economical value of marine fish ***,the larviculture for this species should be performed in hatchery scale for their *** of the important thing in larval stage is hormonal *** hormone is known plays an important role in the metamorphosis of marine fish *** source of that hormone is assumed derived from zooplankton as their live *** live feeds commonly used for marine fish larvae in hatchery are zooplankton copepods and *** purpose of this research to determine the influence of feeding copepods and rotifers on thyroid hormone profile activity,consisted of triiodothyronine(T3)and thyroxine(T4),related to the metamorphoses of coral trout *** research was conducted using three feeding schemes:copepods(A),copepods-rotifers(B),and rotifers(C).It was done for 50 Days After Hatching(DAH).The results showed that larvae from treatment(A)and(B)achieved the highest level of T3 and T4 earlier at 30 DAH,which indicated that both of those larvae have entered the metamorphosis stage *** the other hand,larvae from treatment(C)achieved it and entered the metamorphosis stage later at 40 *** addition,iodine levels in the copepods were significantly higher than those of in rotifers(ppepods and rotifers have effect on thyroid hormone *** have better potential in accelerating the metamorphosis achievement of coral trout larvae with the fact that they have higher iodine content.

No Evidence of Effect on Male Mice Germ Cells After Acute Treatment With Thiram

Thiram is a dithiocarbamate compound widely used for industrial processes and agriculture. Animal studies reveal that this compound may afftct the male reproductive system. Aim of this study was to test, using sensitive testicular parameters, whether thiram directly affects germinal cells. For this purpose, B6C3F1 mice were intraperitoneally injected with thiram in oil (single dose:75 mg/kg; repeated five daily doses: 25 mg/kg).Although both treatments were toxic, none of the parameters examined, i.e., testis weighi, spermatid head number,specific enzyme levels at different times after treatment (14, 28, 35, 56 days) showed significant variations from the controls, On the contrary, in the positive controls (treated with chlorambucil), a marked reduction of sperm head number as well as a deerease of lactate dehydrogenasex and sorbitol dehydrogenase activity letels were evidenced at day 28, with a tendency to recover at day 35. Under these conditions thiram did not cause cytotoxicity on differentiating spermatogonia and on late spermatocyte stages of mice gonads
