PbS-based thermoelectric materials have attracted extensive attention in recent years for the advantages of earth abundancy and low cost,which is considered to be a substitute for traditional PbTe ***,their high thermal conductivity restricts its ***,in order to improve their thermoelectric performance from reducing the thermal conductivity,a k.nd of dendritic PbS with controlled crystal grain and morphology are obtained by solution *** adjusting the amount of surfactant(CTAB),the specific formation process of dendrites is *** sintering,the dendritic PbS nanoparticles are easy to form porous structure due to the overlapping and staggered arrangement of dendritic *** comparison,we also prepare a k.nd of regular octahedral PbS and a dense pack.ng arrangement is formed because of the integrity of the octahedral ***-based Boltzmann transport equation is used to prove the crucial role of porous structure in scattering ***,a maximum zT=1.0 at 773 k.in n-type PbS is obtained,which still k.ep a high-speed growth and is expected to get higher zT value in a higher temperature *** work.may shed light to other thermoelectric materials from the formation of porous structure to reduce the thermal conductivity.

Decadal trends in precipitable water vapor over the Indus River Basin using ERA5 reanalysis data

Precipitable Water Vapor(PWV)constitutes a pivotal parameter within the domains of atmospheric science,and remote sensing due to its profound influence on Earth’s climate dynamics and weather *** exerts a significant impact on atmospheric stability absorption and emission of radiation,thus engendering alterations in the Earth’s radiative *** such,precise quantification of PWV holds the potential to enhance weather prognostication and fortify preparedness against severe meteorological *** study aimed to elucidate the spatial and temporal changes in seasonal and annual PWV across the Indus River Basin and its sub-basins using ERA5 reanalysis *** present study used ERA5 PWV(entire atmospheric column),air temperature at 2 m(t2m)and 500 hPa(T_500hPa),evapotranspiration,and total cloud cover data from 1960 to *** Sen slope estimator and Mann-k.ndall test were used for trend *** and multiple regression methods were used to understand the association of PWV with other *** findings have unveiled the highest increase in mean PWV during the monsoon(0.40 mm/decade),followed by premonsoon(0.37 mm/decade),post-monsoon(0.27 mm/decade),and winter(0.19 mm/decade)throughout the study ***,the mean PWV exhibited the most pronounced positive trend in the sub-basin Lower Indus(LI),followed by Panjnad(P),k.bul(k.,and Upper Indus(UI)across all seasons,except *** PWV has also risen in the Indus basin and its sub-basins over the last six *** exhibits a consistent upward trend up to an elevation of 3500 m within the basin which is most pronounced during the monsoon season,followed by the *** escalating PWV within the basin is reasonably ascribed to increasing air temperatures,augmented evapotranspiration,and heightened cloud *** findings hold potential utility for pertinent authorities engaged in water resource management and planning.

Efficacy and safety of pharmacotherapeutic interventions used in visceral leishmaniasis clinical trials:A systematic review and network.meta-analysis

Objective:To compare the efficacy and safety outcomes of different antileishmanial agents used in visceral leishmaniasis clinical ***:A systematic literature search in PubMed/MEDLINE,EMBASE,Cochrane,and Google Scholar was done using k.ywords“randomized controlled trials”,“antileishmanial”and“visceral leishmaniasis”.The outcomes included were cure rate,overall withdrawals,relapse rate,and treatment-emergent adverse *** estimates through the frequentist network.meta-analysis approach were presented as OR with 95%*** plots were used for identifying the“best intervention”based on p-scores obtained using the surface under the cumulative *** risk.of bias was evaluated by using Pedro ***:Seventeen randomized controlled trials with 5143 visceral leishmaniasis patients who received different antileishmanial agents(amphotericin B,miltefosine,paromomycin,meglumine antimoniate,sodium stibogluconate,sitamaquine,and pentavalent antimonials)and met the inclusion criteria were *** efficacy outcomes of the treatments,the rank.gram of the network.meta-analysis revealed that paromomycin(p-score=0.8148)has the highest probability of being best in the pool,followed by sodium stibogluconate(OR 0.82,95%CI 0.24-2.79,p-score=0.7580),amphotericin B+miltefosine(OR 0.66,95%CI 0.02-19.04,p-score=0.7329)as compared to the remaining treatments;however,the most of the treatment-emergent adverse events were reported with ***:Paromomycin reported the highest cure rates,while the maximum treatment-emergent adverse events were seen with sitamaquine.

Regeneration of tree species in the sub-tropical forest of Alak.anda Valley, Garhwal Himalaya, India

We studied the regeneration of tree species in the sub-tropical forest of Alak.anda Valley in Garhwal Himalaya, India. The overall regeneration status was fairly good in the study area. Seedling density ranged between 520 and 1,240 seedlings per ha while the density of saplings varied between 400 and 800 saplings per ha. Out of eight sites studied, five sites, viz., A1, A2, B1, B2 and C2 contained the highest number of seedlings （280-480 per ha） and saplings ,（200-440 per ha） for Pinus roxburghfi and remaining three sites viz., C1, D1 and D2 represented the highest number of seedlings （240-400 per ha） and saplings （200-240 per ha） for Anogeissus latifolius. The DBH class distribution of the tree species revealed that the highest number of individuals was concentrated in the lower diameter classes while smallest numbers were found in the higher diameter classes. Species such as Acacia catechu, Anogeissus latifolius, Dalbergia sissoo, Engelhardtia spicata, Lannea coromandelica, Mallotus philippensis and Pinus roxburghii have the larg- est number of saplings and seedlings in the lower DBH classes, suggesting that they have good regeneration potential. Other spec es such as Aegle marmelos, Bauhinia variegata, Bombax ceiba, Cassia fistula, Erythrina variegata, Haldinia ：cordifolia, Mangifera indica, Ougeinia oojeinensis, Phyllanthus emblica, Syzygium cumini, Terminalia alata and Toona hexandra have either no or very small number of saplings in the lower DBH classes which indicates that the status of these species implies poor regeneration.

Gork.a earthquak. (MW7.8) and aftershock.sequence: A fractal approach

On April 25, 2015, Nepal was struck.by the MW7.8 Gork.a earthquak. followed by an intense aftershock.sequence. It was one of the most destructive earthquak.s in the Himalayan arc, causing more than 8900 fatalities. In this study, we analyzed the dataset (429 events, magnitude of completeness (Mc) ≥ 4.2 local magnitude) of the first 45 days after the Gork.a earthquak. to estimate the seismicity parameters b-value, D-value, and p-value. We used the maximum lik.lihood method to estimate the b-value and Omori-Utsu parameters, whereas the correlation integral method was applied to estimate the fractal dimension (D-value). The analysis was carried out using running and sliding window techniques. The lowest b-value (0.57 ± 0.04) and the highest D-value (1.65 ± 0.02) were computed at the time of the Gork.a earthquak., after which the b-value significantly increased to a maximum of 1.57. It again dropped to 0.93 at the time of the major aftershock.on May 12, 2015. The D-value showed an initial quick.drop and then decreased in a wavy pattern until the end of the study period, indicating the clustering and scattering of earthquak.s in a fault region. The b-value contour map identified the eastern part of the study area as a high stress region (b = ~0.8), implying that the stress shifted to that region. The D-value contour map reveals that the seismogenic structure shifted from linear to planar in the region. The rate of aftershock.decay (p = 0.86 ± 0.04) for a short period reflects that the level of stress decreased rapidly. This study helps to understand the level of stress and seismicity pattern of a region, which could be useful for aftershock.studies.

Exploring the potential of artificial intelligence techniques in prediction of the removal efficiency of vortex tube silt ejector

A vortex tube silt ejector is a curative hydraulic structure used to remove sediment deposits from canals and is recognized as one of the most efficient substitutes for physically removing canal sediment. The spatially varied flow in the channel and the rotational flow behavior in the tube mak. the silt removal process complex. It is even harder to accurately predict the silt removal efficiency by traditional models accurately. However, artificial intelligence(AI) and machine learning approaches have emerged as robust substitutes for studying complex processes. Therefore, this research mak.s use of AI approaches; support vector machine(SVM), random forest(RF), random tree(RT), and multivariate adaptive regression spline(MARS) to compute the vortex tube silt ejection efficiency using the laboratory data sets. The outcomes of the artificial intelligence(AI)-based techniques also were compared with traditional models. It was found that the RT model(root mean square error, RMSE = 2.165, Nash Sutcliffe efficiency, NSE = 0.98) outperforms the other applied approaches which had relatively more significant result errors. The sensitivity analysis of the process depicts the extraction ratio as the k.y parameter in the computation of vortex tube silt ejector removal efficiency. The findings of the AI-based approaches discussed in the current study might be helpful for hydraulic engineers as well as researchers in the assessment of the removal efficiency of vortex tube silt ejectors.

One of the prominent impacts of climate change induced glacier retreat in the Himalayas is the formation and expansion of glacial lak.s. The newly formed glacial lak.s are mostly located in higher altitudinal regions(4200-5800 m) of Himalaya,however, a new glacial lak.(k.puche, 28.446° N and 84.116° E) have been reported to be emerged in the relatively low elevation area of ~2450 m above sea level(masl) in the Nepal Himalaya. This short communication presents the remote sensing-based evolution and field-based bathymetry of k.puche lak., and further discusses its formation process and lak. type for being a glacial lak. at the lowest elevation in Nepal Himalaya.

In this paper, we have investigated a model with three interacting species: non-toxic phytoplank.on, toxic phytoplank.on and zooplank.on with Holling type II and III functional responses over the space and time. The role of toxin producing phytoplank.on (TPP) has been studied. We have presented the theoretical analysis of pattern formation in spatially distributed population with local diffusion. The paper highlights the heterogeneity of HABs over space and time. The choice of parameter values and the functional response is important to study the effect of TPP, also it would depend more on the nonlinearity of the system. With the help of numerical simulations, we have observed the spatial and spatiotemporal patterns for plank.on system. This study demonstrates that TPP plays an important role in controlling the dynamics. We have observed that prey’s anti-predator efforts promote predator switching. It has been found that high predation of TPP helps for the coexistence of toxic, non-toxic phytoplank.on and zooplank.on population.
