Analysis of docosanol using GC/MS:Method development,validation,and application to ex vivo human skin permeation studies

Docosanol is the only US Food and Drug Administration(FDA)approved over-the-counter topical product for treating recurrent oral-facial herpes simplex *** analytical methods for docosanol are required to demonstrate the bioequivalence of docosanol topical products.A gas chromatography/selected ion monitoring mode mass spectrometry(GC/SIM-MS)method was developed and validated for docosanol determination in biological *** and isopropyl palmitate(internal standard)were separated on a high-polarity GC capillary column with(88%cyanopropy)aryl-polysiloxane employed as the stationary *** ions of m/z 83 and 256 were selected to monitor docosanol and isopropyl palmitate,respectively;the total run time was 20 *** GC/SIM-MS method was validated in accordance with US FDA guidelines,and the results met the US FDA acceptance *** docosanol calibration standards were linear in the 100-10000 ng/mL concentration range(R^(2)>0.994).The recoveries for docosanol from the receptor fluid and skin homogenates were>93.2%and>95.8%,*** validated method was successfully applied to analyze ex vivo human cadaver skin permeation *** applying Abreva®cream tube and Abreva®cream pump,the amount of docosanol that penetrated human cadaver skin at 48 h was 21.5±7.01 and 24.0±6.95 ng/mg,***,we concluded that the validated GC/SIM-MS was sensitive,specific,and suitable for quantifying docosanol as a quality control *** method can be used for routine analysis as a costeffective alternative to other techniques.

Tuning of Optical Properties via Annealing of Bismuth Ferrite (BiFeO3) Thin Films

In this study we are reporting annealing induced optical properties of bismuth ferrite (BiFeO3) thin films deposited on glass substrate via spin coating at 5000 rpm. The structural, optical and surface morphology of BiFeO3 (BFO) thin films have been studied via X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), Optical absorption (UV-Vis) and Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. XRD spectra confirm annealing induced phase formation of BiFeO3 possessing a rhombohedral R3c structure. The films are dense and without cracks, although the presence of porosity in BFO/glass was observed. Moreover, optical absorption spectra indicate annealing induced effect on the energy band structure in comparison to pristine BiFeO3. It is observed that annealing effect shows an intense shift in the UV-Vis spectra as diffuse absorption together with the variation in the optical band gap. The evaluated optical band gap values are approximately equal to the bulk band gap value of BiFeO3.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers,with less than 9%survival *** Ductal Adeno Carcinoma(PDAC)is common with the general public affecting most people older than *** detection of PDAC is often challenging because cancer symptoms will progress only at later stages(advanced stage).One of the earlier symptoms of PDAC is *** with diabetes,obesity,and alcohol consumption are also at higher risk of having pancreatic cancer.A decision support system is developed to detect pancreatic cancer at an earlier stage to address this *** such as Mean Hue,Mean Saturation,Mean Value,and Mean Standard Deviation are computed after color space conversion from RGB to *** k-Nearest Neighbor(F-kNN)is designed for *** system proposed is trained and tested using features extracted from jaundiced eye *** proposed system results indicate that this model can predict pancreatic cancer as earlier as possible,helping clinicians make better decisions for surgical planning.

Solvent induced shape change in CePO_4:Dy^(3+) nanophosphors and effect of metal ions: A photoluminescence study

The influence of different solvents and metal ions （Li^＋, Ba^2＋, Bi^3＋） on the crystallization behaviour, morphology and enhancement in photoluminescence intensity of Dy^3＋ doped CePO4 were investigated. Highly crystalline luminescent nanophosphors of CePO4：DY^3＋ re-dispersible in polar solvents were successfully prepared via a simple polyol route at 140 ℃. As-prepared Dy^3＋ doped CePO4 nanophosphors prepared in EG and DMF appeared to have crystalline monoclinic phase but exhibited hexagonal phase when prepared in water and water mixed solvents, The hexagonal phase transformed to monoclinic phase after heating at 900 ℃. TEM study revealed different shapes of the synthesized nanophosphors with change of solvents. The luminescence intensity of 4F9/2→6H15/2 at 478 nm （blue） was found to be more prominent than 4F9/2→6H13/2 at 572 nm （yellow）. The introduction of metal ions （Li＋, Ba2＋ and Bi3＋） in CePO4：Dy3＋ led to considerable luminescent enhancement. The nanophosphors were subsequently incorporated in polymer films of PVA which showed the characteristic emissions of Dy3＋. It also served as an effective method to improve the performance of polymer materials and brought about novel properties in them.

Effect of protease inhibitor from Agaricus bisporus on glucose uptake and oxidative stress in 3T3-L1 adipocytes

Objective:To explore the effect of the protease inhibitor from Agaricus bisporus(***)Imbach(AbPI)on glucose uptake and oxidative stress in 3 T3-L1 ***:Adipocytes were differentiated and stained with OilRed-O staining to confirm *** toxic/protective effect of AbPI on the adipocytes was determined by MTT assay,intracellular reactive oxygen species generation through flow cytometry,and morphologically through confocal microscopy using propidium iodide,4,6-diamino-2-phenylindol dihydrochloride,and 2’,7’-dichlorofluorescein diacetate *** uptake of fluorescent glucose analog,2-[N-(7-nitrobenz-2-oxa-1,3-diazol-4-yl)amino]-2-deoxy-d-glucose by adipocytes was also studied through confocal ***:MTT assay showed that the cell survival rate was(28.00±3.00)%,(92.33±2.60)%,and(71.34±2.10)%in the presence of 2 mM H2O2,AbPI alone,and AbPI and H2O2 both,respectively,in comparison to the ***-Red-O staining indicated that Ab PI enhanced *** stimulated the glucose uptake by adipocytes similar to the drug rosiglitazone,and showed insulinsensitizing effect in the presence of insulin,but failed to stimulate the uptake in the absence of *** reactive oxygen species generation was reduced in differentiating adipocytes upon Ab PI *** microscopy showed that the damaged cell population rose to 3.50%,117.84%,and 261.50%in the presence of Ab PI alone,AbPI with H2O2,and H2O2 alone,***:The protease inhibitor enhances glucose uptake by adipocytes and exhibits a cytoprotective effect on them.

A mathematical model and experimental analysis of the impact of oxide thickness on the ambipolar conduction in Schottky Barrier Carbon Nanotubes(CNTs)Field Effect Transistor(SB CNTFETs)is *** of ambipolar conduction in SB CNTFETs is imperative in order to establish them as the future of IC *** ambipolar nature of SB CNTFETs leads to a great amount of leakage *** a gate oxide dielectric of thickness,tox^50 nm suppresses the ambipolar *** an SB CNTFET,it is the electric field at the source/drain contacts that control the conductance and the band bending length at the contacts is defined by ***,tox is the prime parameter that influences the width of the Schottky barrier and the current in the subthreshold *** to the wide SB,there is a loss in on-current due to tunneling,but the current due to thermionic emission is increased by employing a high-κdielectric such as Zirconium dioxide(ZrO2).This work proposes an approach to suppress ambipolar behavior in SB CNTFETs without decreasing the on *** thickness and dielectric constant of the gate oxide are optimized using the particle swarm optimization(PSO)algorithm to achieve suppression of ambipolar conduction without any loss in *** proposed SB CNTFET was modeled using *** demonstration of the suppression of ambipolar property is also *** SB CNTFETs are fabricated using high-κdielectric such as ZrO2 with different thickness.A device with thin(~5 nm)gate oxide and another device with thick(~50 nm)gate oxide were *** the experimental results,it is observed that the device with the thin gate oxide exhibited ambipolar characteristics and the device with the thick gate oxide did not exhibit ambipolar *** increase in thickness,tox,ensures suppression of ambipolar behavior.
