Dear Editor,We read with interest the article by Gao et al on fungal endophthalmitis associated with fungal keratitis in 27 eyes of 27 patients. They have reported[1] that multiple surgeries including penetrating keratoplasty （PKP）, pars plana vitrectomy （PPV）, intracameral or intravitreal antifungals, cataract extraction and evisceration resulted in a final visual acuity better than counting fingers in 55.6% eyes. Most common causative fungal pathogens in their study were Fusarium （44%）, Aspergillus （22%）, and Alternaria （7%）.

Metagenomic approaches are recently used for searching novel open reading frames(ORFs) coding enzymes employed in pharmaceutical, food industries, *** this study, a metagenomic library was constructed from Chumathang hotspring sediment DNA. The library consisted of approximately 9,000 clones and was screened for protease activity. A clone exhibiting protease activity was identified and named CHpro1. Sequencing of CHpro1 revealed that the ORF encoded a functional protein of 363 amino acids belonging to peptidase S8–S53 ***1 shared 41 % sequence similarity with a reported protease(subtilase family) and 35 % structural similarity with the crystal structure of Pro-Tk sps. of Thermococcus kodarkaenasis. In silico modeling the 3D structure of CHpro1 showed that it has two beta sheets, 10 alpha helices and 11 strands. Catalytic triad prediction implied CHpro1 to be a serine protease. The optimum temperature and p H of the purified protease were found to be 80 °C and 11.0,respectively. The enzyme was active at 5 % concentration of hydrogen peroxide and retained 60 % of activity at 10 %concentration. The thermotolerant, alkalophilic and oxidantstable properties of the protease make it a potential candidate for biotechnological applications.

Appropriate oral hygiene significantly reduces the possibility of oral infections. However， dental caries and periodontal diseases are major oral health issues causing chronic diseases due to poor oral health. Recently， herbal compounds have gained interest in maintaining oral health. Extracts of burdock root (Arctium)， noni fruit (Morinda citrifolia)， and neem leaf (Azadirachta indica) are now used as intracanal medicaments in endodontics and periodontics. Plectranthus amboinicus species and other plants produces essential oil like β-caryophyllene， p-cymene， and γ-terpinenecan exhibiting antibacterial activity， highlighting phytoconstituents plays a vital role in oral health. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of hygiene and sanitization， to curb SARS-CoV-2. Oral cavity is among the gateways for virus entry into saliva. Saliva is a potential reservoir of SARS-CoV-2， and there is an increased risk of infection if there is any fissure in the mouth. This enables entry of virus into the vascular system through gingival or periodontal pocket， possibly reaching lung periphery then to lung vessels by interacting with endothelial surface receptors triggering pulmonary vasoconstriction and lung damage due to endothelial dysfunction. This review aims to draw attention to the possible route of SARS-CoV-2 infection via the oral cavity and the importance of oral hygiene against COVID-19.

The influence of different solvents and metal ions （Li^＋, Ba^2＋, Bi^3＋） on the crystallization behaviour, morphology and enhancement in photoluminescence intensity of Dy^3＋ doped CePO4 were investigated. Highly crystalline luminescent nanophosphors of CePO4：DY^3＋ re-dispersible in polar solvents were successfully prepared via a simple polyol route at 140 ℃. As-prepared Dy^3＋ doped CePO4 nanophosphors prepared in EG and DMF appeared to have crystalline monoclinic phase but exhibited hexagonal phase when prepared in water and water mixed solvents, The hexagonal phase transformed to monoclinic phase after heating at 900 ℃. TEM study revealed different shapes of the synthesized nanophosphors with change of solvents. The luminescence intensity of 4F9/2→6H15/2 at 478 nm （blue） was found to be more prominent than 4F9/2→6H13/2 at 572 nm （yellow）. The introduction of metal ions （Li＋, Ba2＋ and Bi3＋） in CePO4：Dy3＋ led to considerable luminescent enhancement. The nanophosphors were subsequently incorporated in polymer films of PVA which showed the characteristic emissions of Dy3＋. It also served as an effective method to improve the performance of polymer materials and brought about novel properties in them.

Assessment of Right Ventricular Function in Post Operative Patients of Tetralogy of Fallots and Its Predictive Factors

Introduction: Right ventricular (RV) dysfunction can occur early and late in patients after intracardiac repair (ICR) for Tetralogy of Fallots (TOF). This study focuses on early RV dysfunction as there is limited data on it. Aims & Objective: RV function was studied with respect to its incidence, course over 3 months, co-relation with peri operative factors and serum iron levels. Material & Method: All patients of TOF undergoing ICR during July 2007-October 2008, done by single surgeon at a single centre, were prospectively studied. Patients were divided into group A (with RV dysfunction) and group B (without RV dysfunction). All patients underwent pre operative & post operative clinical assessment, biochemical evaluation (serum iron profile & CK MB) and 2D echocardiography (pulse Doppler & tissue Doppler). Echocardiography was done at 24 hours, 4 weeks & 12 weeks of ICR. Patients were also assessed for intra operative parameters including cross clamp time, by pass time, acidosis, RV and PA pressures. Results: 24 patients underwent ICR (transannular patch repair) with mean age of 7.31 ± 4.74 years. RV dysfunction was present in 13 patients (54.2%) but was persistent only in 15.3% (2/13) at 12 weeks. Presence of cyanotic spell (p = 0.006), recurrent chest infection (p = 0.002), raised heamatocrit (p = 0.02), and rise in serum iron level (p = 0.002) were significantly associated with post operative RV dysfunction. It resulted in prolong ICU stay and slower recovery. Pre operative RV dysfunction was associated with difficult weaning from bypass and poor post operative outcome (p < 0.001). Conclusion: RV dysfunction is commonly present even after satisfactory ICR. Its aetiology remains unclear in such setting. In our study, pre operative clinical profile and serum iron fluctuations were important determinants of post operative outcome.
