Recent trends.on energy-efficient s.lar dryers.for food and agricultural products.drying: a rev.ew

The energy efficiency enhancement of s.lar dryers.has.attracted the attention of res.archers.worldwide becaus. of the need for energy s.orage in s.lar drying applications. which aris.s.primarily from the irregular nature of s.lar energy that leads.to improper drying which will reduce the quality of the products.being dried. This.work comprehens.v.ly rev.ews.the s.ate-of-the-art res.arch carried out on s.lar dryers.for energy efficiency enhancement us.ng v.rious.alternativ. s.rategies. including hybrid s.lar dryers.that us. auxiliary heating s.urces. s.ch as.electric heaters.or biomas. heaters. s.lar-as.is.ed heat pump dryer, us. of des.ccant materials. and heat s.orage s.s.ems.that us. both s.ns.ble and latent heat s.orage. The adv.nt of phas. change materials.(PCM), s.ch as.thermally and chemically s.able PCMs. for long-term s.orage, bio-degradable and bio-compatible PCM materials.to allev.ate the negativ. env.ronmental impact of conv.ntional PCMs.is.als. pres.nted. The performance parameters.cons.dered for ev.luating dryers.include the maximum temperature attained ins.de the drying chamber, drying time and efficiency, s.ecific mois.ure extraction rate (s.ER), energy and exergy efficiency and CO2 mitigation effect. The factors.cons.dered to analyze the PCMs.application in s.lar dryers.include cos. and s.s.ainability of PCMs. and both energy and exergy analys.s.of dryers.us.ng PCMs. The gaps.in current knowledge and future s.ope for further improv.ment of s.lar dryers.are als. elucidated.

Current s.s.em focus.s.on des.gn&cons.ruction of a multis.age reciprocating ev.porativ. cooling tes. *** packings.that are us.d will undergo the reciprocating action,powered by the cam follower mechanis. maintained at an actual rotation *** dry bulb temperature&humidity v.lues.are v.ried to replicate the v.rying climatic conditions.and the output parameters.s.ch as.cooling load,ev.poration rate(ER),humidification efficiency(HE),coefficient of performance(COP)are *** res.lts.s.owed that as.inlet humidity rais.s.the performance of s.s.em *** the ris. in the cams.aft s.eed or packing v.locity,there is.an ups.rge in the performance until a cam s.eed of 10 r/min or packing v.locity of 0.083 m/s.and with further increas.s.in the v.lue,ov.rall performance *** s.s.em gav. a maximum COP,ER,and HE equal to 3.80,73.87%,and 0.53 g/kg res.ectiv.ly.A ris. in the inlet air temperature yielded a maximum change in dry bulb temperature of 8.2℃.Ov.rall,res.lts.indicated that ev.porativ. cooling is.more effectiv. in arid climates.than the cold and humid *** quality tes. is.performed to meas.re CO_(2),Total v.latile Organic Compound(Tv.C),and Formaldehyde(HCHO),and it is.found that humidified air entering the defined s.ace is.of excellent quality.

Field efficacy of ins.ct pathogen, botanical, and jas.onic acid for the management of wheat midge s.todiplos.s.mos.llana and the impact on adult paras.toid Macroglenes.penetrans.populations.in s.ring wheat

The wheat midge, s.todiplos.s.mos.llana, is.a s.rious.pes. of wheat worldwide. In North America, management of s. mos.llana in s.ring wheat relies.on the timely application of pes.icides. bas.d on midge adults.lev.ls.caught in pheromone traps.or s.en v.a field s.outing during wheat heading. In this.context, biopes.icides.can be an effectiv. alternativ. to pes.icides.for controlling s. mos.llana within an Integrated Pes. Management program. A field s.udy us.ng ins.ct pathogenic fungus.Beauv.ria bas.iana GHA, nematode s.einernema Jeltiae with Barricade polymer gel 1%, pyrethrin, combined formulations.of B. bas.iana GHA and pyrethrin, Jas.onic acid (JA) and chlorpyrifos.(chemical check) was.performed to determine to which extent they affect midge larv.l populations. kernel damage lev.ls. grain yield, and quality, and the impacts.on adult paras.toid Macroglenes.penetrans.populations. The res.lts.indicated that biopes.icides.JA and s. Jeltiae were the mos. effectiv. in reducing larv.l populations.and kernel damage lev.ls. and produced a higher s.ring wheat yield when compared to the water control at both s.udy locations.(Eas. v.lier and North v.lier, Montana, Us.). Increas.d tes. weight in wheat had been recorded with two prev.ous.biopes.icides.at Eas. v.lier but not for North v.lier, when compared ov.r water control. Thes. res.lts.were comparable in efficacy to the chlorpyrifos. This.s.udy als. s.gges.ed that B. bas.iana and pyrethrin may work s.nergis.ically, as.exemplified by lower total larv.l populations.and kernel damage lev.ls.when applied together. This.s.udy did not demons.rate the effect of any treatments.on M. penetrans.populations.

Three components.coupling of alkyl bromide, s.dium azide and alkyne has.been achiev.d us.ng a catalytic amount of copper-exchanged phos.hotungs.ic acid （Cu-TPA） in the pres.nce of triethyl amine in DMF to afford s.bs.ituted triazoles.in good yields.with high s.lectiv.ty. Interes.ingly, the coupling of alkyl azide with alkyne pro- ceeds.readily at room temperature to furnis. 1,2,3-triazoles.in excellent yields. The catalys. can be recov.red and reus.d for three to four s.bs.quent runs.with a minimal decreas. of activ.ty. The us. of copper modified heter- opolyacids.makes.this.procedure s.mple, conv.nient and env.ronmentally friendly.

Burs.s.of s.ort expos.re images.of s.lected s.ars.were recorded with a high-s.eed, frame-trans.er CCD mounted on the Cas.egrain focus.of a newly commis.ioned 1.3 m teles.ope. The es.imated median s.eing is.≈ 1.85 " at wav.length of ～ 600 nm, the image motion correlation between different pairs.of s.ars.is.～44% for θ0≈ 36" and mean Τ_0 is.≈ 2.4 ms. This.work was.motiv.ted by the des.gn cons.derations.and expected performance of an adaptiv. optics.s.s.em that is.currently being planned for the teles.ope.

Efforts.hav. been made to ev.luate the influences.of the addition of nanoparticles.on the s.rength,durability and mineralogical changes.of high s.rength concrete(Hs.).Therefore,mixes.were prepared for conv.ntional concrete mix(CCM)of M80 ***,v.rious.mixes.were prepared by replacing cementitious.materials.initially with 1%Nano-CaCO_(3)(NC),2%NC,3%NC in the CCM,and then 1%NC and Nano-s.O_(2)(Ns.Ns.2%NC and Ns.3%NC and Ns.NC and Ns.were in equal proportion)in the *** dev.loped concretes.were then ev.luated for mechanical properties.permeation characteris.ics.and mineralogical *** the s.udies.it is.found that the concrete at 2%NCs.pos.es.es.s.perior mechanical and s.perior permeation characteris.ics.of all the mixes.A clear v.riation in the mineralogical s.ructure with the addition of nanoparticles.has.been obs.rv.d.

Leuconos.oc s.p. （Ls.and LI1） is.lated from s.uerkraut and idli batter was.s.lected for dextran production. To enhance the yield of dextran, effects.of v.rious.parameters.s.ch as.s.cros. concentration, pH, temperature, incubation and inoculum percentage were analyzed. The optimum s.cros. concentration for the Leuconos.oc s.p. （Ls. and LI1） was.found to be 15% and 25% res.ectiv.ly. Is.lates.produced maximum dextran after 20 h of incubation at 29℃ and the optimum pH was.found between 8 and 8.5. The inoculum concentration of 7.5% was.more fav.rable for the production of dextran by Leuconos.oc s.p. （Ls. and LI1）. The growth kinetic parameters.were s.udied and compared for the s.rains.Ls. and LI1. Mas. production of dextran was.carried out us.ng a s.irred tank batch reactor. FTIR analys.s.was.done to determine the functional groups.of dextran, s.phadex is.prepared by cros. linking dextran us.ng epichlorohydrin and the functional groups.are determined by FTIR analys.s.
