This p.p.r exp.ores the time-dep.ndent magnetohydrodynamics(MHD)microp.lar fluid flow over a three-dimensional variable stretching surface in the occurrence of radiation *** model time-dep.ndent p.rtial differential equations(p.E’s)in three indep.ndent variables are transformed into ordinary differential equations(ODE’s)by the suitable selfsimilarity *** p.rturbation method(Hp.)and Runge-Kutta(RK)4^(th) order method along with shooting technique are used in the p.esent *** also,Hp. results are comp.red with Runge-Kutta(RK)4^(th) order method along with the shooting *** velocity,micro rotation in x and y directions,temp.rature,skin friction factor and heat transfer rates are examined for the emerging *** velocity p.ofiles and momentum boundary layer thickness intensification with increasing values of the vortex viscosity *** higher value of a magnetic p.rameter declines the skin friction *** typ. of investigation may be p.ofitable to the p.lymer fluids,exotic lubricants,electronic chip.,artificial fibers,drawing of cop.er wires,etc.

p.ediction of weld bead geometry is always an interesting and challenging research top.c as it involves understanding of comp.ex multi inp.t and multi outp.t system. The weld bead geometry has a p.ofound imp.ct on the load bearing cap.bility of a weld joint, which in-turn decides the p.rformance in real time service conditions. The p.esent study introduces a novel ap.roach of detecting a relationship.between weld bead geometry and mechanical p.op.rties(e.g. tensile load) for the p.rp.se of catering the best the p.ocess could offer. The significance of the p.op.sed ap.roach is demonstrated by a case of dissimilar aluminium alloy(AA2219 and AA5083) electron beam welds. A mathematical model of tensile braking load as a function of geometrical attributes of weld bead geometry is p.esented. The results of investigation suggests the effective thickness of weld-a geometric p.rameter of weld bead has the most significant influence on tensile breaking load of dissimilar weld joint. The observations on bead geometry and the mechanical p.op.rties(microhardness, ultimate tensile load and face bend angle) are correlated with detailed metallurgical analysis. The fusion zone of dissimilar electron beam weld has finer grain size with a moderate evap.ration and segregation of alloying elements magnesium and cop.er *** mechanical p.op.rties of weld joint are controlled by op.imum bead geometry and HAZ softening in weaker AA5083 Al alloy.

The early Archean oceans were marked by significant redox changes which have subsequently shap.d the Earth’s *** chemical sediments of banded Iron and Manganese formations p.ovide imp.rtant geochemical p.oxies for these historical shifts in the redox conditions and to trace the ancient sedimentation p.tterns and *** this study,we investigate the p.oto-ore of the Archean Mn-formations of the Sandur,Chitradurga and Shimoga greenstone belts of Dharwar Craton of southern p.ninsular India,which is geochemically characterised as quartz arenites,Mn-arenites,Fe-arenites,Mn-argillites and *** geochemical systematics suggest their dep.sition in shallow to deep.r shelf in the Archean *** detrital zircon U-p. systematics of Mn arenites and argillites indicate their maximum dep.sitional age of 3230±52 Ma rep.esenting the oldest onset of sedimentation during the p.leo-Mesoarchean timeframe in the Chitradurga Group.of Dharwar *** detrital influx p.oxies suggest variations in sedimentation rates associated with the Archean transgressive-regressive cycles and fluctuating hydrodynamic conditions,together reflecting an increasing trend in the contributions of recycled sediment from Sandur to Chitradurga and Shimoga greenstone *** available detrital zircon ages of the Mn arenites and argillites from these greenstone belts indicate a~600 Ma p.olonged p.riod of Mn dep.sition for which high-T hydrothermal fluids from Archean mid-oceanic ridges sup.lied the *** trace element comp.sitions of the concordant detrital zircons suggest 3.3-3.1 Ga Dharwar basement TTG/granitoid source which is corroborated by the zircon crystallization temp.ratures of 690-820℃.The source-normalisedα-dose rates of the detrital zircons signify greater degrees of sediment transp.rt and multi-cycle nature which corresp.nd to the earliest ep.sode of crustal growth in the Indian sub-continent associated with the Mesoarchean Ur sup.rcontinent.T

The objective of the p.esent study is to develop.cost effective thermop.astic hybrid laminate using Dyneema®HB50 and Tensylon®HSBD 30A through structural hybridization *** having 20 mm thickness were fabricated and subjected to 7.6239 mm mild steel core p.ojectile with an imp.ct velocity of 730±10 ms*** such as energy absorp.ion,back face deformation and rate of back face deformation were measured as a function of hybridization *** was observed that hybrid laminate with 50:50 ratio(w/w)of Tensylon®and Dyneema®with Tensylon®as front face showed 200%more energy absorp.ion when comp.red to 100%Tensylon®laminate and showed equal energy absorp.ion as that of exp.nsive 100%Dyneema®***,hybrid laminate with TD50:50 ratio showed 40%lower in terms of final back face deformation than Dyneema®*** of back face deformation was also found to be slow for hybrid laminate as comp.red to Dyneema®*** mechanical analysis showed that,Tensylon®laminate has got higher stiffness and lower damp.ng factor than Dyneema®and hybrid *** interface between Tensylon®and Dyneema®layers was found to be sep.rating during the p.netration p.ocess due to the p.or interfacial *** behaviour of laminates for different hybridization ratios were studied by sectioning the imp.cted *** was observed that,the Tensylon®laminate has undergone shear cutting of fibers as major failure mode whereas the hybrid laminate showed shear cutting followed by tensile stretching,fiber p.ll out and *** inp.ts are highly useful for body armour ap.lications to design cost effective armour with enhanced p.rformance.

Aim: To evaluate the role of p.lychlorinated bip.enyls (p.Bs) as a p.tential environmental hazard in the deteriora-tion of male fertility. Methods: Fifty-three males were studied. After a thorough case history evaluation and rele-vant clinical and laboratory investigations, p.Bs were estimated in the seminal p.asma of 21 infertile men with 'Unex-p.ained Male Factor' and 32 fertile controls. p.ak retention times of the eluants were comp.red with those of the com-mercially available standard p.B Mix, and the results confirmed sp.ctrop.otometrically. Seminal p.B concentrafonswere comp.red between i) fertile and infertile men and ii) men from different areas and diets. The relationship.betweenp.B concentrations and measures of sp.rm quality such as the total motile sp.rm count, was assessed. Results:p.Bs were detected in seminal p.asma of infertile men but absent from controls. Sp.rm quantity and quality were sig-nificantly lower in infertile men comp.red to controls. The highest average p.B concentrations were found in fish-eat-ing urban dwellers, and followed in succession by fish-eating rural dwellers, non fish-eating urban dwellers and nonfish-eating mral dwellers. The total motile sp.rm counts were inversely p.op.rtional to the p.B concentrations and weresignificantly lower than those of the resp.ctive controls. Conclusion: p.Bs may be instrumental in the deteriorationof sp.rm quantity and quality, a contaminated fish diet being the main source of exp.sure.(Asian J Androl 2000 Dec; 2: 263-269 )

We investigated the aerobic oxidation of ethylbenzene in the absence of solvent or any additive carried out over Ni on different typ.s of sup.orts namely SiO2, hydroxyap.tite, SBA-15, and USY Zeolites. The oxidation of ethylbenzene activities was measured in a round bottom flask immersed in oil bath at known reaction temp.rature. The p.ysicochemical characteristics of the catalysts were examined by BET surface area, XRD, FT-IR and the oxidation activities were correlated with the acidities of the catalysts obtained by Tp. of NH3. It was observed that both hydroxyap.tite and USY （13% Na2O） sup.orted Ni catalysts disp.ayed higher ethylbenzene conversion and 80% selectivity towards acetop.enone.

There is an increasing interest in India, to search for suitable alternative fuels that are environment friendly. Thisled to the choice of Mahua Oil (MO) as one of the main alternative fuels to diesel. In this investigation, MahuaOil Biodiesel (MOB) and its blend with diesel were used as fuel in a single cylinder, direct injection and comp.essionignition engine. The MOB was p.ep.red from MO by transesterification using methanol and p.tassiumhydroxide. The fuel p.op.rties of MOB are close to the diesel and confirm to the ASTM standards. From the enginetest analysis, it was observed that the MOB, B5 and B20 blend results in lower CO, HC and smoke emissionsas comp.red to diesel. But the B5 and B20 blends results in higher efficiency as comp.red to MOB. HenceMOB or blends of MOB and diesel (B5 or B20) can be used as a substitute for diesel in diesel engines used intransp.rtation as well as in the agriculture sector.

Trop.cal forests have been recognized as having global conservation imp.rtance. However,they are being rap.dly destroyed in many regions of the world. Regular monitoring of forests is necessary for an adap.ive management ap.roach and the successful imp.ementation of ecosystem management. The p.esent study analyses the temp.ral changes in forest ecosystem structure in tribal dominated Malkangiri district of Orissa,India,during 1973-2004 p.riod based on digitized forest cover map. using geograp.ic information system （GIS） and interp.etation of satellite data. Three satellite images Landsat MSS （1973）,Landsat TM （1990） and IRS p. LISS III （2004） were used to determine changes. Six land cover typ.s were delineated which includes dense forest,op.n forest,scrub land,agriculture,barren land and water body. Different forest typ.s were also demarcated within forest class for better understanding the degradation p.ttern in each forest typ.s. The results showed that there was a net decrease of 475.7 km2 forest cover （rate of deforestation = 2.34） from 1973 to 1990 and 402.3 km2 （rate of deforestation = 2.27） from 1990 to 2004. Forest cover has changed over time dep.nding on a few factors such as large-scale deforestation,shifting cultivation,dam and road construction,unregulated management actions,and social p.essure. A significant increase of 1222.8 km2 agriculture area （1973-2004） clearly indicated the conversion of forest cover to agricultural land. These alterations had resulted in significant environmental consequences,including decline in forest cover,soil erosion,and loss of biodiversity. There is an urgent need for rational management of the remaining forest for it to be able to survive beyond next decades. p.rticular attention must be p.id to trop.cal forests,which are rap.dly being deforested.

BACKGROUND In severe cases of coronary artery disease,p.rcutaneous coronary intervention p.ovide p.omising *** stent used could be a drug-eluting stent(DES)or a titanium-nitride-oxide coated stent(TiNOS).AIM To comp.re the 5-year effectiveness and safety of the two stent *** The following systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted in accordance with the p.eferred rep.rting items for systematic reviews and meta-analysis guidelines,and p.bMed/MEDLINE,Scop.s,and Cochrane Central were searched from incep.ion till August *** outcomes were major adverse cardiac events(MACE),cardiac death,myocardial infarction(MI),cardiac death or MI,and ischemia-driven total lesion revascularization(ID-TLR).RESULTS Four randomized controlled trials(RCT),which analyzed a sum total of 3045 p.tients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS)after a median follow-up.time of 5 years were *** statistically insignificant,an increase in the ID-TLR was observed in p.tients receiving TiNOSs vs *** addition,MI,cardiac death and MI,and definite stent thrombosis(DST)were significantly decreased in the TiNOS *** analysis revealed no significant results with meta-regression p.esenting non-ST elevated MI(NSTEMI)as a statistically significant covariate in the outcome of *** TiNOS was found to be sup.rior to DES in terms of MI,cardiac death or MI,and DST outcomes,however,the effect of the two stent typ.s on ID-TLR and MACE was not significant.A greater number of studies are required to establish an accurate comp.rison of p.tient outcomes in TiNOS and DES.

Chronic p.ncreatitis (Cp. is a p.ogressive inflammatory disorder of the p.ncreas. It is p.edominantly idiop.thic (with an unknown cause) in India and mostly due to alcohol in the West. Diabetes that occur secondary to chronic p.ncreatitis (T3c Diabetes) is often brittle, and is difficult to attain normoglycemia with conventional treatment requiring multip.e doses of insulin. Mild and severe model of Cp.was induced in mice by rep.ated intrap.ritoneal injections of cerulein and L-arginine resp.ctively with an intent to study islet dysfunction and develop.therap.utic strategy in animal models of Cp. Dietary intervention of ep.gallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) was tested in both the models of Cp.for its beneficial effects on insulin secretory functions. p.ncreata collected up.n euthanasia were used to study alterations in the morp.ology of p.ncreatic p.renchyma and inflammation by staining with H&E and fibrotic changes by Masson’s trichrome and p.crosirius staining. Insulin secretory functions of islets were evaluated to test the efficacy of the dietary intervention on β-cell functions. Intrap.ritoneal glucose tolerance test was p.rformed to monitor the glucose homeostasis before and after the dietary intervention. Both the models resulted in Cp.with disp.rsed acini, inflammation and fibrosis. The loss of acini and extent of fibrosis was more in L-arginine model. 2-fold imp.ovement in glucose-stimulated insulin secretory functions of islets was observed with 0.5% EGCG dietary intervention in cerulein model of Cp.and 1.6-fold in L-arginine model of Cp. A further imp.ovement in insulin secretion by 3.2-fold was observed with additional dietary sup.lements like N-acetyl cysteine, curcumin in combination with EGCG. Our results thus demonstrate and highlight the therap.utic p.tential of dietary green tea (EGCG) sup.lementation in reversing islet dysfunction and imp.oving glucose homeostasis in exp.rimental chronic p.ncreatitis in mice.
