Optimum genetic delivery for modulating target genes to diseased tissue is a major obstacle for profitable gene *** nanoparticles(LNPs),considered a prospective vehicle for nucleic acid delivery,have demonstrated efficacy in human use during the COVID-19 *** study introduces a novel biomaterial-based platform,M1-polarized macrophage-derived cellular nanovesicle-coated LNPs(M1-C-LNPs),specifically engineered for a combined gene-immunotherapy approach against solid *** dual-function system of M1-C-LNPs encapsulates Bcl2-targeting siRNA within LNPs and immune-modulating cytokines within M1 macrophage-derived cellular nanovesicles(M1-NVs),effectively facilitating apoptosis in cancer cells without impacting T and NK cells,which activate the intratumoral immune response to promote granule-mediating killing for solid tumor *** retention within tumor was observed upon intratumoral administration of M1-C-LNPs,owing to the presence of adhesion molecules on M1-NVs,thereby contributing to superior tumor growth *** findings represent a promising strategy for the development of targeted and effective nanoparticle-based cancer genetic-immunotherapy,with significant implications for advancing biomaterial use in cancer therapeutics.

Increasing plant density and improving N fertilizer rate along with the use of high density-tolerant genotypes would lead to maximizing maize(Zea mays L.) grain productivity per unit land area. The objective of this investigation was to match the functions of optimum plant density and adequate nitrogen fertilizer application to produce the highest possible yields per unit area with the greatest maize genotype efficiency. Six maize inbred lines differing in tolerance to low N and high density(D) [three tolerant(T); L-17, L-18, L-53,and three sensitive(S); L-29, L-54, L-55] were chosen for diallel crosses. Parents and crosses were evaluated in the 2012 and 2013 seasons under three plant densities: low(47,600),medium(71,400), and high(95,200) plants ha-1and three N fertilization rates: low(no N addition), medium(285 kg N ha-1) and high(570 kg N ha-1). The T × T crosses were superior to the S × S and T × S crosses under the low N–high D environment in most studied traits across seasons. The relationships between the nine environments and grain yield per hectare(GYPH) showed near-linear regression functions for inbreds L54, L29, and L55 and hybrids L18 × L53 and L18 × L55 with the highest GYPH at a density of47,600 plants ha-1and N rate of 570 kg N ha-1and a curvilinear relationship for inbreds L17, L18, and L53 and the rest of the hybrids with the highest GYPH at a density of95,200 plants ha-1combined with an N rate of 570 kg N ha-1. Cross L17 × L54 gave the highest grain yield in this study under both high N–high-D(19.9 t ha-1) and medium N–high-D environments(17.6 t ha-1).

Rainfall variability coupled with poor land and water management is contributing to food insecurity in many sub-Saharan African countries such as *** address such challenges,various efforts have been implemented in *** objective of this study was to evaluate the long-term impacts of different soil and water conservation and water harvesting interventions on groundwater and drought resilience of the Gule watershed,northern *** study involved:(i)documentation of the ap-proaches followed and the technologies implemented in Gule since the 1990s,(ii)monitoring the hy-drological effects of the interventions for ten years,and(iii)evaluation of the effects of the interventions on groundwater(level and quality),spring discharge and suspended sediment concentration(SSC)in *** showed that interventions were implemented at different stages and *** a result of the interventions,the watershed was transformed into a landscape resilient to rainfall variability:(a)dry shallow groundwater wells have become productive and the level of water in wells has raised,(b)the groundwater quality has improved,(c)SSC in high floods has reduced by up to 65%,(d)discharge of existing springs has increased by up to 73%and new springs have started to *** to improved water availability,irrigated land has increased from less than 3.5 ha before 2002 to 166 ha in *** have remained water-secure during an extreme drought in 2015/*** of watershed management practices has transformed the landscape to be resilient to rainfall variability in a semi-arid environment:a lesson for adaptation to climate variability and change in similar environments.

Hydrangea bretschneideri Dipp is a highly popular ornamental plant for garden *** engineering technology has been successfully used in many plant species,but it is limited in *** we established an efficient regeneration system by using stem segments as explants for the first *** our study,the plant growth regulators(PGRs)were evaluated at the different regeneration processes,including axillary shoots regeneration and root *** found that the optimal concentration for axillary buds’induction was 2.0 mgL^(-1)6-BA and 0.5 mgL^(-1)1 IAA,its highest induction rate was 70%.Moreover,the highest axillary shoots proliferation coefficient was 10.7 on the Murashige and Skoog(MS)medium with 2.0 mgL^(-1)6-benzyladenine(BA),0.2 mgL^(-1)indole-3-butyric acid(IBA),and 1.0 mgL^(-1)gibberellin A3(ga3).The highest frequency of root induction was 80.0±0.06%by culturing the elongated shoots in 1/2 MS medium containing 0.1 mgL^(-1)*** summary,our study will provide an effective technology for large-scale propagation and important pathway for promoting the popularization and application of Hydrangea bretschneideri Dipp.

Assessment of Cystatin C-Based GFR Estimating Equations as a Novel Reliable Biomarker for Renal Pathology Diagnosis in Patients with Mild to Severe Tubular Affection

Background and Objective: Serum creatinine, a commonly used biomarker in determining glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage, is highly variable biologically and does not rise until > 50% of renal function (RF) impairment occurs. Also, its production is not constant & is affected by many factors as muscle mass, age, inflammation. On the other hand, Cystatin C shows more stable production making it more suitable for assessment of kidney function. Also, It has been shown that the progression of CKD to renal failure, even in glomerular diseases, correlated better with the degree of tubular damage and interstitial fibrosis. So, our aim was to investigate the relation between kidney function assessed by different cystatin (Cys-C)-based estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) in comparison to the gold standard Iohexol (Ioh) based measured (m)GFR in relation to the pathological degree of tubular damage in renal biopsy. To our knowledge, this is the first study that evaluates the relation of (Cys-C)-based eGFR to tubulointerstitial fibrosis in renal biopsy. Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 20 CKD cases who attended the Nephrology Department at Ain Shams University, where a renal biopsy was obtained, and individuals were allocated into two groups: group A (ga) with mild tubular affection (TA) and group B (GB) with moderate to severe TA. All participants were referred for measure-ment of GFR using Iohexol (Ioh) together with serum Cys-C level and eGFR was calculated using different Cys-C-based GFR estimating equations, which were further compared using Multivariate Linear Regression and Bland-Altman analyses. Results: Our results revealed a substantial statistical difference among the two studied groups regarding Hb, s creatinine, urea. GB had significantly lower levels for both eGFR and mGFR (82, 93, 115, or 115) ml/min/1.73m2, Vs. ga (200, 123, 162 or 124) ml/min/1.73m2, according to GFR_iohexol,
