Sperm subpopulations in avian species： a comparative study between the rooster （Gallus domesticus） and Guinea fowl （Numida meleagris）

The main aims of this research were to study possible differences in objective morphometric sperm characteristics, establish normative sperm morphometry standards, and evaluate the presumed different subpopulation distribution of avian spermatozoa from the rooster （Gallus domesticus） and Guinea fowl （Numida meleagris） as model avian species. Seventy-two ejaculates （36 per species studied） were obtained manually, following a training period involving gently combined dorso-abdominal and *** massage of the birds. Ejaculates were processed for volume, sperm concentration, viability, motility, and morphology. Moreover, samples were submitted for sperm morphometric assessment using objective Computer-Assisted Semen Analysis for Morphometry （CASA-Morph） methods, with sperm morphometric descriptors evaluated by principal Component Analysis （pCA） and multivariate clustering analyses. There were several differences observed between the avian species in values obtained for ejaculate volume and sperm concentration （p 〈 0.001）. Irrespective of species, pCA revealed two principal Components （pCs） explaining more than 80% of the variance. In addition, the number of subpopulations differed with species （three and five subpopulations for rooster and Guinea fowl, respectively）. Moreover, the distribution of the sperm subpopulations was found to be structurally different between species. In conclusion, our findings from using CASA-Morph methods indicate pronounced sperm morphometric variation between these two avian species. Because of the strong differences observed in morphometric parameter values and their subpopulation distribution, these results suggest that application of objective analytical methods such as CASA-Morph could substantially improve the reliability of comparative studies and help establish valid normative sperm morphological values for avian species.

Genetic Identification of Quantitative Trait Loci for Contents of Mineral Nutrients in Rice Grain

In present study, Fe, Zn, Mn, Cu, Ca, Mg, p and K contents of 85 introgression lines （ILs） derived from a cross between an elite indica cultivar Teqing and the wild rice （Oryza rufipogon） were measured by inductively coupled argon plasma （ICAp） spectrometry. Substantial variation was observed for all traits and most of the mineral elements were significantly positive correlated or independent except for Fe with Cu. A total of 31 putative quantitative trait loci （QTLs） were detected for these eight mineral elements by single point analysis. Wild rice （O. rufipogon） contributed favorable alleles for most of the QTLs （26 QTLs）, and chromosomes 1,9 and 12 exhibited 14 QTLs （45%） for these traits. One major effect of QTL for zinc content accounted for the largest proportion of phenotypic variation （11%-19%） was detected near the simple sequence repeats marker RM152 on chromosome 8. The co-locations of QTLs for some mineral elements observed in this mapping population suggested the relationship was at a molecular level among these traits and could be helpful for simultaneous improvement of these traits in rice grain by marker assisted selection.

Empirical formulae to describe some physical properties of small groups of protogalaxies with multiplicity

By means of identical cubic elements,we generate a partition of a volume in which a particle-based cosmological simulation is carried *** each cubic element,we determine the gas particles with a normalized density greater than an arbitrarily chosen density *** using a proximity parameter,we calculate the neighboring cubic elements and generate a list of *** imposing dynamic conditions on the gas particles,we identify gas clumps and their neighbors,so that we calculate and fit some properties of the groups so identified,including the mass,size and velocity dispersion,in terms of their multiplicity(here defined simply as the number of member galaxies).Finally,we report the value of the ratio of kinetic energy to gravitational energy of such dense gas clumps,which will be useful as initial conditions in simulations of gravitational collapse of gas clouds and clusters of gas clouds.

Autologous tissue patch rich in stem cells created in the subcutaneous tissue

AIM:To investigate whether we could create natural autologous tissue patches in the subcutaneous space for organ repair. METHODS: We implanted the following three types of inert foreign bodies in the subcutaneous tissue of rats to produce autologous tissue patches of different geometries:(1) a large-sized polyvinyl tube(L = 25 mm,internal diameter = 7 mm) sealed at both ends by heat application for obtaining a large flat piece of tissue patch for organ repair;(2) a fine polyvinyl tubing(L = 25 mm,internal diameter = 3 mm) for creating cylindrically shaped grafts for vascular or nerve repair; and(3) a slurry of polydextran particle gel for inducing a bladder-like tissue. Implantation of inert materials was carried out by making a small incision on one or either side of the thoracic-lumbar region of rats. Subcutaneous pockets were created by blunt dissection around the incision into which the inert bodies were inserted(1 or 2 per rat). The incisions were closed with silk sutures,and the animals were allowed to recover. In case of the polydextran gel slurry 5 m L of the slurry was injected in the subcutaneous space using an 18 gauge needle. After implanting the foreign bodies a newly regenerated encapsulating tissue developed around the foreign bodies. The tissues were harvested after 4-42 d of implantation and studied by gross examination,histology,and histochemistry for organization,vascularity,and presence of mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)(CD271+CD34+ cells). RESULTS: Implanting a large cylindrically shaped polyvinyl tube resulted in a large flat sheet of tissue that could be tailored to a specific size and shape for use as a tissue patch for repairing large organs. Implanting a smaller sized polyvinyl tube yielded a cylindrical tissue that could be useful for repairing nerves and blood vessels. A new strategy for corrosion protection of porous stainless steel using polypyrrole films

Intraductal papillary neoplasm of the bile ducts: A case report and literature review

Intraductal papillary neoplasm of the bile duct(IpNB) is a rare bile duct neoplasm mostly found in far eastern nations where hepatolithiasis and clonorchiasis infections are endemic. In western countries,it is very rare and the etiology is unknown. In this article,we report the first IpNB patient we encountered in our clinic and a literature review. The patient is a 38-yearold female with a history of choledocholithiasis who presented with obstructive jaundice. She was found to have a papillary mass at the junction of the right hepatic duct and common hepatic duct with six masses in the liver parenchyma. The immunophenotypic and histologic features of the tumor are consistent with IpNB,gastric subtype. The patient had a partial hepatectomy and has been receiving palliative chemotherapy. In a search of pub Med database,we collected 354 IpNB patients reported in 22 articles. In these patients,52.8% were from Japan and 27.7% were from western countries including the United States(11.0%). The age of the patients ranged from 35 to 80 years old with an average of 64.6. Male/female ratio was 1.5. Macroscopically,57.5% of the tumors were in the left lobe and 29.5% were in the right lobe. The average size of the tumor were 4.2 cm at the time of diagnosis. Histologically,pancreato-biliary subtype accounted for 41.8%,intestinal 28.0%,gastric 13.5% and oncocytic 16%. An invasive component is most often present in the pancreato-biliary and gastric subtypes. Despite recent advanced technologies,diagnosis of IpNB is still challenging,especially in western countries due to its rarity. Defined clinicopathologic features are in demand for the accurate diagnosis and proper treatment.

Data Driven Modelling of Coronavirus Spread in Spain

During the late months of last year,a novel coronavirus was detected in Hubei,*** virus,since then,has spread all across the globe forcing Word Health Organization(WHO)to declare COVID-19 outbreak a *** Spain,the virus started infecting the country slowly until rapid growth of infected people occurred in Madrid,Barcelona and other major *** government in an attempt to stop the rapssid spread of the virus and ensure that health system will not reach its capacity,implement strict measures by putting the entire country in *** duration of these measures,depends on the evolution of the virus in *** this study,a Deep Neural Network approach using Monte Carlo is proposed for generating a database to train networks for estimating the optimal parameters of a SIR epidemiology *** number of total infected people as of April 7 in Spain is considered as input to the Deep Neural *** adaptability of the model was evaluated using the latest data upon completion of this paper,i.e.,April *** date range for the peak of infected people(i.e.,active cases)based on the new information is estimated to be within 74 to 109 days after the first recorded case of COVID-19 in *** addition,a curve fitting measure based on the squared Euclidean distance indicates that according to the current data the peak might occur before the 86th ***,Deep Neural Networks have proven accurate and useful tools in handling big epidemiological data and for peak prediction estimates.
