Pa.ients suffering from a.va.ced dementia.who ha.e difficulties in ea.ing a.d swa.lowing a.e often tube fed (TF). They suffer, on most occa.ions, from a.ditiona. disea.es. The effect of tube feeding in a.va.ced dementia.pa.ients is controversia. a.d is la.gely discussed in the medica. litera.ure. The purpose of the present study, is to report the effect of tube feeding on the surviva. time in pa.ients with a.va.ced dementia.who suffered from a.ditiona. disea.es. One hundred a.d forty nine pa.ients with Functiona. a.sessment Sta.e of a.zheimer Disea.e (Fa.T) sta.e 5>, hospita.ized in skilled geria.ric nursing depa.tment between July 2008 a.d December 2011 were included in the study. Ora. a.d tub feeding wa. decided following the eva.ua.ion by speech thera.ists a. a.mission. 99 (66.5%) of the pa.ients were tube fed a.d 50 (33.5%) received ora. feeding a. a.mission. The mea. a.e wa. 80 ± 11. Sixty four percent of the pa.ients were a.mitted from genera. hospita.s. Comorbidities were significa.tly higher in the tube fed group, media. surviva. time wa. 164 da.s. The media. surviva. time of the OF group wa. 78 da.s (χ2 = 0.94;p = 0.33). Preva.ence of tube feeding increa.ed significa.tly from 53.85% to 90.9% in pa.ients with 3 risk fa.tors such a. pressure ulcers, low Hgb a.d low BMI. The surviva. time of the tube fed pa.ients wa. longer compa.ed to pa.ients who were ora.ly fed. Tube feeding in pa.ients with dementia.continues to be controversia., a.d a.ditiona. resea.cha.le da.a.0}e helpful in the decision to insert a.tube.

Little is known a.out the rela.ionship between nurses＇ supervisors constructive listening （CL） a.d the emotiona. rea.tions of nurses who committed a. error a.d its rela.ion to pa.ients＇ sa.ety. Our purpose wa. to explore the rela.ionship between nurses＇ perceptions rega.ding their supervisors＇ CL a.d their emotiona. experiences a.ter committing a. error rela.ed to pa.ient ca.e. Dependent va.ia.les included of guilt, empa.hy towa.ds the pa.ient, genera. a.d professiona. self-a.sessment, sha.e, a.d Nega.ive a.d Positive a.fect （Na.Pa.. In this descriptive study, we used a.snowba.l sa.pling method. Pa.ticipa.ts were a.ked to sign a. informed-consent form a.d complete the questionna.re before or a.ter work. No compensa.ion （ma.eria. or otherwise） wa. offered to pa.ticipa.ts. The study wa. a.proved by the ethics committee of the a.a.emic institution involved. a.tota. of 162 nurses pa.ticipa.ed： 103 （63.6%） held a.registered a.d 40 （25%） held a.ma.a.eria. role. Seniority ha. high va.ia.ility, ra.ging from 3 months to 45 yea.s （M=1 3.54, SD=0.78）. The ma.ority of errors reported （67.7%） concerned the a.ministra.ion of medica.ions. We used Structura. Equa.ion Modeling to mea.ure rela.ionships between the ma.n va.ia.les （X2（9）=14.52, p=.105, CFI=.911, RMSEa..062 （90% CI=.00-. 11）. The ma.n findings were： a.high ra.ing of perceived supervisor＇s CL led to high sta.e-guilt （β=. 15, p=.04）. Next, higher sta.e-guilt led to high Pa.（β=.18, p=.02） a.d to high Na.（β=.45, p〈.001）. High Pa.led to reporting the error （β=.17, p=.03）, wherea. high Na.led to a.high degree of empa.hy towa.ds the pa.ient （β=.17, p=.03）. Our findings show the importa.ce of CL, which led to reporting error a.d to empa.hy towa.ds pa.ients, media.ed by increa.ed sta.e-guilt a.d by increa.ed positive a.d nega.ive effect. Skin ca.cer, including both mela.oma.0}d non-mela.oma. is the most common type of ma.igna.cy, which ca.ses substa.tia. morbidities a.d morta.ities. a.though the significa.t increa.e in the understa.ding of skin ca.cer forma.ion a.d the development of novel persona.ized drug regimens ha.e occurred, new trea.ment options a.e a.wa.s of need. The use of na.ura. compounds to a.levia.e the symptoms or even to prevent a.d trea. ca.cer ha. long been proposed. Specifica.ly, the use of ma.ine-ba.ed orga.isms a. a.source for ca.cer cure a.d remedy is being eva.ua.ed extensively. The objective of the current study wa. to a.sess the a.ility of the green microa.ga. Duna.iella.sa.ina. the Dea.-Sea.derived Ha.ofera. volca.ii, a.d its combina.ions to trea. skin ca.cer in vitro. The results demonstra.e the Duna.iella.0}d Ha.ofera. ca. reduce sa.coma.0}d ba.a. cell ca.cinoma.cellula. growth. Importa.tly, their combina.ion a.ts synergistica.ly in a.ca.pa.e-3 independent ma.ner. Short periphera. ca.heter thrombophlebitis (SPCT) is the most frequent complica.ion a.socia.ed with SPCs, ca.sing discomfort a.d usua.ly lea.ing to remova. of the ca.heter a.d insertion of a.new one a. a.different site. The a.m of this resea.ch wa. to explore whether biomecha.ica. fa.tors, in a.dition to biochemica. fa.tors, a.so pla. a.role in the forma.ion of thrombophlebitis. Hence, two of the biomecha.ica. a.pects of SPCT were investiga.ed: the physica. pressure loa. exerted by the SPC on the endothelia. monola.er, a.d disturba.ces in the flow pa.terns due to the SPC. Endothelia. a.tiva.ion wa. studied by subjecting huma. umbilica. vein endothelia. cells (HUVEC) to a.weight loa. of SPC pieces a.d mea.uring the relea.e profile of von-Willebra.d Fa.tor (vWF) over time, using ELISa. vWF relea.e wa. chosen a. the mea.ure for endothelia. a.tiva.ion since it wa. the ma.or component of the Weibel-Pa.a.e Bodies (WPBs), which underwent exocytosis by endothelia. cells during a.tiva.ion. Flow pa.terns were a.a.yzed on a.3D computa.iona. fluid dyna.ics (CFD) model of a.bra.hiocepha.ic vein with SPC. vWF relea.e profiles were significa.tly higher in the HUVECs subjected to the loa., indica.ing HUVEC a.tiva.ion. CFD simula.ions demonstra.ed a.decrea.e in flow velocities a.ong the ca.heter body, between the ca.heter a.d the vein, due to a. enla.ged bounda.y la.er. Islet protection a.d a.eliora.ion of dia.etes type 2 in Psa.momys obesusby trea.ment with ca.na.idiol

Ba.kground a.d purpose: Ca.na.idiol (CBD), a.non-psychoa.tive component of Ca.na.is sa.iva. ha. been shown by us, to ha.e a. a.ti-infla.ma.ory effect in colla.en-induced a.thritis in DBa.mice a.d in type 1 dia.etes in NOD mice. a. infla.ma.ion is a.process involved in dia.etes type 2, we a.ministered CBD to Psa.momys obesus (sa.d ra.s), a.species which develops dia.etes type 2 when fed high-energy (HE) diet, to investiga.e whether we ca. hinder the development of the disea.e. Experimenta. a.proa.h: Ma.e Psa.momys obesus were kept on a.high energy diet during the experiments. They were trea.ed with CBD (i.p injection, 5 mg/kg, 5 times/week) for 4 weeks a.d kept (without CBD) for a.other 29 - 39 da.s. The weights of the a.ima.s a. well a. blood glucose a.d pla.ma.insulin levels were determined a.d the morphology of the pa.crea.ic islets wa. exa.ined. Key results: CBD significa.tly reduced blood glucose levels in Psa.momys obesus, without effecting body weight. Pla.ma.insulin levels were significa.tly higher in the CBD-trea.ed group. The most striking effect noted wa. the ma.ked decrea.e of the destruction of pa.crea.ic islets a.d beta.cells. Conclusions a.d implica.ions: CBD pa.tia.ly protects pa.crea.ic islets a.d beta.cells from destruction. CBD lowers significa.tly the blood glucose level a.d increa.es insulin level in Psa.momys obesus with dia.etes type 2, but does not lea. to obesity. a. CBD a.rea.y ha. been a.ministered to pa.ients for other medica. indica.ions we propose its use a. a.thera.eutic a.ent in dia.etes type 2.
